Your work reminded me of one childhood memory. I was very fond of watching my grandmother make some hand-knitted stuff. It was amazing to see how something arises from nothing. Thank you! Your handmade skills are magnificent.
Thank you Jason. It's all time consuming, but none of it is really hard. There is a great book called "Leather & Rawhide Braiding" by Bruce Grant you should look at if you are interested.
Now I know why handcrafted leather goods are so expensive. The hours needed to produce such intricate blandishments are numerous. Each detail is a thing of great beauty.
That's a nice little pattern! It kind of reminds me a bit of re-stringing a baseball glove, except not as nice looking. I would have never thought to hammer down the string there at the end.
I've always wondered how that braid was done. In my youth,I could plait 12 strands, for belt's. Never seen Naked Ladies on a saddle before, I like it. Ha. 🇺🇸
Ha! Yeah, defiantly a different tooling pattern! "Research" for this one was kind of fun! I used to be better at braiding too. That's something you do forget fast if you don't use it much.
It varies with the width of the lace thong. You want it to cover, but not punch holes close enough to be weak. I have done it on a swell cover, but it's tough to do. There is a great book called "Leather & Rawhide Braiding Encyclopedia by Bruce Grant" It shows this and a lot more.
Nice!! Well if the trapping doesn’t work for you, I think you might do well at a salon braiden little girls hair. Ps I hope you will show us the finished saddle.

Thank you! Cindy's Mom did a lot of knitting. Watching her, I could never figure it out!
Used to be really into leather craft when I was a kid. I bet I've still got my stamps and knives somewhere. Great video.
Most of mine came from Tandy Leather tooling kits I got as a kid too. You should dig yours out and play with them again. You can make some neat stuff!
You are a specialist. Great work. I all ways wondered hoe this stuff was done. This is a really great video. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I like this braid. It's pretty simple, but looks good finished. Hammering it flat evens it out and makes it look better.
Dang, You are the Master! I always wondered about some of that stuff you do.
Thanks Hoss!
Beautiful job done
Thank you!

Wow , great job ! I'd luv to have a naked lady saddle but I don't even have a horse ! Lol
Save a horse, rid a cow...I guess that song doesn't apply here haha
What size hole & spacing do you use? Have you used this braid on a swell cover?

You had me at naked ladies 😂
Ha! Yeah, will get our attention pretty quick! This saddle should be done today, it has 7 naked ladies on it.
@@MuskratOutdoors LOL I can't wait to see it. What size seat is in it?
Ya know, I haven't measured it. The guy I'm making it for brought the tree over. I'll have to measure it.
@@MuskratOutdoors oh ok got you.
