Firefighters usually don't don that fast in station. They leave the jacket, helmet, BA set, etc in the firetruck and put those on on the way to the fire site, so all they have to do is hop in their leggings and boots

My dad is a firefighter and in the academy you have to be able to do this to even apply to become a firefighter my record time was 2 minutes suiting up and my dad does it in 47 seconds

Nope you get dressed how ever is fastest for you but still meets the standard of having your gear properly donned, but the order you do it is up to you.
My dads a chief on lafd cali and I go to the station spend the night and stuff and everybody there does it the same in 45 seconds unlike these dudes😭

@@Roycepapii these guys might be new. You can’t compare seasoned firemen against up and comers.
I went to an optional firefighter class my school was advertising, just for fun. We had to do this, but we started out just trying to get a general time and we slowly worked on getting faster from there, I got about 70/80ish seconds during the last one we did. We did a bunch of other stuff too. I was so sore the next day I could barely move. My already huge respect for firefighters did increase that day.
Edit: spelling corrections because my autocorrect sometimes doesn’t work.
I’m in a Fire class at the moment (as a junior in hs) and we’ve got our scramble drill down to a minute and 10 seconds, we started at 90 seconds and haven’t even been at it long. I am so excited to see all of us progress to this point :) I can’t wait

I have so much respect for fire fighters. I went to the fire academy and boy my body was giving way, climbing 5 flights of stairs with a heavy hose reel, dragging the 150 lbs dummy, Keizer etc. it’s tough training but it equips these fighters on the job saving lives.

me too! when i was in high school i wake up in 6:28, then i was in the class in 6:30 for there was just 50 meters form my classroom to my dormitory and that happened with not brushing my teeth and washing my face and there is not many clothes to wear (in summer)

They also deserve a higher salary. Why the most important jobs in the community are jipped$$ wise, but TH-camrs are out there making millions absolutely floors me.

Good job! The nice thing is the guys who get real good at this never seem to lose it. 20 years in and they might have lost a step in other areas, but not in donning gear.
This is the bunker gear (also known as turnout gear, fire kit and incident gear is the personal protective equipment (PPE) used by firefighters. The term is derived from the fact that the trousers and boots are traditionally kept by the firefighters bunk at the fire station to be readily available for use.

My first day as a volunteer was 8 straight hours in 100 degree weather doing turn out drills. Stopped only for lunch. The gear as it got water soaked more and more just made it even harder. I could do turn outs in around 45ish seconds. That was including taking off my work boots and pants. We didn’t start in our underwear.
Man im glad he didn't have to shave too. The hi daddy warmed my heart showing him how to be a good man. I wish our hardworking men didnt have to do this. Im so grateful for these guys. ❤

As a rural firefighter we did house fires, bush/forest fires, motor vehicle accidents, and chemical spill cleanup (main military highway passed through our town). We were on call 24/7. Sometimes we got a phonecall and had until the fire truck arrived to get dressed but usually they just showed up unannounced , you grabbed your gear and jumped into the truck while wearing your pjs. Getting dressed was done sitting in the truck seats. It included the uniform we wore under our fireproof gear as well. There is no room to sling a tank or get a coat in a good position and bumping your head was common especially with a full team of 5.
The big one we had to time was getting caught in the front of a forest fire (sudden wind change). We had 60 seconds to don our flamehood and make sure our gear was on, get in the truck, cover in blankets while putting on the sprinkler system, lights, siren and calling in an emergency water bombing on our location.
We really thank n appreciate each one of your services. You are those real heroes children talk about. Soldier thank you so much for helping people n environment. Be safe.

Mad respect to those men. It’s 2022, I wish they were provided with better technology when it comes to those suits and apparatuses at a fair cost of course.
Our gear and SCBAs are top of the line anymore for career departments that is. Standards are always changing and sometimes when they do, you have to upgrade to the newest packs to stay up with those standards.

Right as I got it all on they received a call and had to roll out . And there I was with all of his gear on . I was in a panic like never before !!! 😂 seeing this gave me ptsd

@@dangotdodi what does training have to do with a pay raise? We deserve the raise. I was Army. 12 years Combat Engineer active duty, now 4 years as a Combat Medic in the guard and still going for retirement. Got out and became a firefighter. We make around 40k to do this. Not giving us in the military absurd amounts of money is understandable. It’s easy to get in, everybody would do it, and we already get tons of benefits from it. But firefighting is hard as hell to get into, and even if we were paid let’s say 85k, not everyone would still do it. You need to be a paramedic. Before you can do that, you need to get EMR certified. That allows you to get EMT certified. Then that allows you to finally get Paramedic certified. All in all, you’re looking at 3 years of schooling and 15k-16k worth of debt. Hell, you won’t even be looked at unless you have a bachelors. So add another 4 years of schooling and 40k+ worth of debt just to get this job. I was lucky enough to reclass to Combat Medic and get EMR AND EMT certified through AIT. Used TA while in to get a degree, then my GI Bill to get Paramedic certified. We definitely deserve the raise!

These are heroes that don’t get the corporate sponsorships, no parades in their honor, no giant mansions or songs that people will sing for. They simply do it because there’s someone locked in a burning building, and someone’s gotta go up and get them.
