      Yes. I grew up in Iowa. And would like granddaughters to follow CC journey. I also as a kid was a huge Muhammad Ali fan so has nothing to do with ethnic background. I would be excited to see a kid off the REZ shine some day too.

      Cami- loo yes she will. I'm proud of Serena Williams " The Queen Of Tennis" encouraged her to stand strong against the negative pettiness in the WNBA. God will strengthen Caitlin Clark to overcome and the Olympics will finally select her to be the new and next Olympics 2024 basketball champion. I want Caitlin Clark to meet Michael Jordan she would probably go crazy meeting the " King Of Basketball" himself. The man who changed the NBA since, 1984. Michael Jordan put style into the game of basketball. Caitlin Clark will bring love, unity, and triumph in the WNBA. I think this is what Caitlin C will bring. I see it in her because her family made her tough. God instilled that toughness within her. Caitlin Clark one day will be " The Princess Of The WNBA". Opening doors for future women generations. Paige Bueckers another college basketball legend is the next #1 draft pick for the WNBA in 2025. I'm ready and waiting for Paige B. You're so cute, sweet and talented. Bring your A game to the WNBA. The stars and fans are waiting. Shoot I wish I was there to watch you play. I'm a basketball fan and player in the neighborhood already.

    I'm a CPA, so I like to focus on the business side of things. Caitlin is THE BIGGEST boost to the WNBA's financial future in the leagues history. This is one of those times where everyone should look beyond the court of play. We're talking long-term, and all of the players (including the hateful ones) ready to cash in on it also. To me it will be interesting if the Fever oust Sides because she sucks at coaching Caitlin, and will be more interesting if the WNBA gets it right and rides this wave for the future success of the league.

      I agree with the financial issues. The WNBA has never made a profit and the NBA gives millions to the WNBA. I also am not going to downplay any of the players that established the leaguer. What I don’t understand is why it is perfectly fine to be a Steph Curry fan and not a LeBron fan (as examples of NBA players), but the attitude that Caitlin Clark brings more young girls to basketball is wrong-it is neither wrong or right-it is just true. All of the WNBA should be celebrating that any fresh talent is going to be a curiosity because of how good they were in college. In the end, Caitlin Clark still has to play very good ball to be a star in the league. Celebrate what each player brings to the table.

    • @mmcpa
      @mmcpa 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @DebraL321 100% agree. I would like Angel Reese more if she had lowered the volume. Rough play is fine, but Caitlin has a target on her back, on and off the court. I've known of the WNBA and know many of the greats who have played in the league. But I followed Caitlin to the WNBA to be a more active observer. It's being played wrong on so many levels. It's insane to me. The players, her coach, the league, the media - they're all playing hot potato, and that potato is banged up due to many drops. Caitlin is a gold mine and a raw rookie. If, at the end of 3 years, she is grossly underperforming, then the narrative can change. She has the tools to be a big-time star.

    @hansel2001 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Serena Williams is more than a mentor for Caitlin Clark; the GOAT should be the role model for how to succeed in women’s sports.
    In professional women’s sports, there’s the right way of doing it (WTA tennis & the 4 majors) and then there’s the wrong way of doing it (LPGA, WMBA, USWNT soccer).
    In the LPGA, they bungled Michelle Wie’s career (she also had a lot to do with her failures) and then the LPGA then allowed a whole decade of non-english speaking, spotlight-hiding foreign Asian players who had zero marketing/branding potential for sponsors and viewers rule the roost. the LPGA basically committed harakiri for 3 decades.
    The USWNT could have ridden Mia Hamm and Alex Morgan to marketing heights and instead the USWNT team decided to have the face of their organization become the likes of Megan Rapinoe and Hope Solo instead. Branding kryptonite.
    Now to women’s basketball, the WNBA and the Olympic team. The WNBA could have made a more favorable schedule for the Indiana Fever before the draft (knowing 99% that CC would be selected by Indiana). The first 10 games for Indiana have been a gauntlet of back-to-backs and the 2 toughest defenses from last year in multiple games. Eesh. The WNBA is looking a gift horse of a lifetime (more than a generational player) directly in the mouth. Then the Olympic team decided to keep CC off the roster. First of all, 90% of Americans didn’t even know women’s basketball was an Olympic sport. Next, no one is watching US Olympic basketball without CC; i barely watch the NBA regular season and definitely don’t watch the WNBA. No one has mentioned it, but a US Caitlin Clark jersey could be the single most highest grossing piece of apparel in American Olympic history, no? Whose jersey or shoes are currently #1?!? That’s right, no one knows the answer. For these and half a dozen more reasons, women’s basketball is killing itself by not promoting CC more. Literally NO ONE watches WNBA except sports bettors, a small sub-pop i won’t mention, CC fans, and curious casual fans of CC highlights on ESPN and youtube. No one.
    The Venus and Serena decades could have been a pock mark on women’s tennis and could have spelled the end of women’s tennis altogether. Sharapova wasn’t winning and Kournikova was not endearing enough to the masses. Instead, the the WTA or whatever tennis body ruled in the 90s/00s (with some help from the Tiger Woods halo) embraced Serena as much as it possibly could. And now the rest is history. Venus is super marketable and Serena is the GOAT.
    CC is smart; she will listen to the wisdom of Serena’s guidance. But the WNBA? Will they follow the incompetence of the LPGA and USWNT or will they follow the genius of the WTA? Based on all indications thus far, the WNBA leadership will bungle this into oblivion. The leadership will squander the women’s Michael Jordan and we’ll have to wait for the leadership to retire or die so the next round of leadership can do something w/ the women’s Lebron in 2030.

      Sounds about right. CC was asked about playing against NBA players as well and she said she'll be lucky to get off 1 shot. She's played against boys before so she knows how that would go. When asked about shooting 3s with Steph, she said he'd smoke her for sure. But she'd still wanna do it so that she can hopefully get his autograph afterward and fangirl hahaha.

    Serena understands what it means to be a role-model and professional athlete at the same time. Player performance on the court is equally important to their behavior _off_ the court. Fans love great players, but they love _classy_ great players even more because fans want to be like them: aka "role models", that's why CC just signed $28M deal with Nike - the biggest endorsement deal in WNBA history. Petty, smug, arrogant, obscene players will never see their picture on a box of Wheaties.

    Caitlin got more professional team mates in college. These pros cannot, Boston, run a screen properly. A poor screen is worse than no screen. Caitlin was used to professional screens in college. Her professional team has not been taught how to do a proper screen and the season will soon be half over.

    • @torigabriel6025
      @torigabriel6025 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just watched CC's ROTM highlights on the Fever page again and noticed AB was able to set proper screens for CC on some of those shots. Then their screens seemed to get worse instead of improve. Adrienne Ross put up a wonderful video showing the screens from Iowa versus Indiana. Those were from their recent games, too. Seems like Temi and KLS were the only ones doing them correctly while others were oddly just going through the motions or appearance of a screen (not even waiting for contact before moving to their positions). Maybe time will tell whether these are intentional or not.

    • @henley7012
      @henley7012 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@torigabriel6025 Not surprised Temi and KLS were not involved in the apparent sabotage of CC. In May the other players either could not catch the pass or if they did couldn't dunk the ball..dozens of missed baskets by Fever forwards. Combine that with Sides apparent incompetence as a coach it's been a nightmare for CC. All this on top of an inhuman schedule to start the year. 11 games in 20 days. Aces only played 5 in that time and they were basically a set team from the start.
      It sure doesn't feel like much of a welcome for CC. If you weren't a conspiracy theorist to begin the year you may well be one now.

    Let's get some perspective, please.
    Serena was the best female tennis player of all time. She surpassed Graf, Navratilova, Hingis, Seles, Henin. The best. She did it with effort, work, dedication, strength, resilience, and talent.
    The prejudice she fought against was minimal, and part of it was due to how outspoken and unrestrained she was. Judges and some tennis analysts did not like outspoken athletes.
    Caitlin Clark is fighting against a massive wave of rac1sm from her competitors, some fans and most of the media. Having a pundit such as SAS saying (I watched the whole thing) she is where she is "because, let's face it, she's white" is evidence of how much rac1sm she's facing.
    Jackie Robinson's fight against rac1sm happened long before civil rights actions and movements. What he faced should never be faced by any human being, and his story serves as inspiration for anyone.
    Clark's troubles happen in 2023 and 2024, when prejudice against whites, Asians and Jews is viewed by the Left and the media as normal.
    What the Queen of Tennis had to go through is child's play in comparison to the sheer hatred Caitlin Clark is being submitted to.

Look regardless how great Caitlin is .....it doesn't change the fact that these women play an easy game....watch a NBA game then watch a WNBA....count how many times in man coverage the NBA leaves the lane open.....NONE.....look at the WNBA....just about every time....the WNBA is not the NBA....and if you want to see a bunch of women some cute some not....throw the ball around and yes watch Caitlin do her thing.....then it will work......I think most people who love Basketball rather see it at the top level....not just happening...

    Quite a few years ago I used to run mega-laps at the Central Missouri State University multipurpose building, literally running around both the CMSU Mules and Jennies basketball team practices. I recall that it was 1982 when the Mules won the NCAA small college nationals, and the Jennies came in something like third. The Mules player were all beyond tall and even the point guards could touch the top of the backboard, while the Jennies rarely could even touch the rim. BUT, the Jennies were FAR more entertaining because of their high energy and amazing ball handling. Just like ALL of the WNBA teams play now. And now they're being thrust in front of their well deserved national audience and WTF cares that the catalyst has been a skinny white bundle of skills and drive from no-name midwest. Watch the clips inundating this platform, of players and teams having nothing to do with half-court threes. Appreciate their skills. Yup, there's probably some racist energy at the heart of each aspect of what's going on, but in the long run the quality of the play will win the day, and for all the right reasons. Play your best games, ladies, and enjoy the ride. You are on a journey that, one way or another, we are all cheering

    As much as I support her. CC current stats are not that good and her defense is garbage and her athleticism is lacking. Jordan in his rookie year was dominating Magic and Bird to the point they handed him the baton and those dude were beating the ish out of rookie Jordan. There is nothing CC that's doing right now make anyone in the WNBA want to hand her anything. I bought the hype train, but watching the games, her execution simply can't back it up. Whether it's her or whether coaching, it ain't working (so many turnovers, so low of a shooting %, very few 3s, etc). You shouldn't expect grown ass woman to coddle her until she proves she can take the beating and still win games. The way media is spinning is trying to make excuses that it's not her game that matters, it's HER that matters. But I watched some her games and it STILL wasn't exciting. My eyeballs have moved on.
