Watching this back I realised that I forgot to say that if this happens in your beds, just add the organic washing-up liquid to the watering can and water the beds just before a good rain shower is due. I also alway watch my weather forecast to see when it's going to rain, and make sure I water just before, so that the surface of my semi-raised beds are wet. This is because they are the same compost as is in these containers, and they too can become hydrophobic very quickly. That top layer can become so dry so quickly that the water runs off in heavy rain, or quickly dries off without penetrating down in lighter showers. This causes young plants to struggle as their roots are not deep enough to reach the soil below that is holding more moisture. 🌧

      A very useful tip.
When I read the first bit I did have a laugh as I immediately thought, "wouldn't that make it uncomfortable to go to sleep". Silly, I know, but it did 🤪

Thank you, Sandra. This same compost is in my semi-raised beds, and its a nightmare to keep hydrated due to having a huge amount of wood pulp in it, and not being composted correctly by the company in the first place. The battle is real!

Hi Suzanne, Firstly, Happy Easter 🙂 Excellent video. That is amazing, with just a tiny amount of organic soap. (Would this work with castile soap?) I have never seen or heard of this before now. You are a wealth of useful information.
That is a good amount of very large containers ready to be planted up.
These fabric containers are great for air pruning, but they do dry out quickly.
Looking forward to the follow up video. Have fun, Mark
