Her physicians advised her to cancel, to not talk, and to just rest. So Hyang did not want to disappoint the audience. Furthermore, she truly believed her singing career was over, and wanted to sing was last time. After her performance, she was readmitted to the hospital. In 2023, if it's at all possible, So Hyang sounds better than ever. Her range is still ridiculous, and her breath control remains insane.

Daz, I am not an 'organized religion' type person either, but this woman takes me to church every time I hear her! Ha! Mr. Graham saw Sohyang's performance and was absolutely thrilled by her rearrangement of the music and performance, so he had the Irish embassy in Seoul get in contact with Sohyang to let her know that he felt her version was the best ever. Here is how to pronounce Sohyang properly. So is just as it would be in English. The h and y are where it takes a slight bend in the road. There are numerous clips to pick from. There is one version that shows her in the studio and others on stage live. If you put "Sohyang Amazing Grace" in TH-cam the studio version should be the top video. Or if you want a live stage version "So Hyang (소향) - Amazing Grace (어메이징 그레이스) | Global Church Blessing 2020 (지구촌교회 블레싱 2020)" She also recently did the song as a duet with Petra. Petra is someone she has recently been singing with. I would suggest one of the solo versions first.

Yes, "mesmerizing" is the term for this performance. My initial viewing of Sohyang's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" ensnared me more than 6 years ago and I have remained happily trapped in Sohyang's music ever since. While I am no church goer either, her voice, and her life, serve as the testimony why people have faith. Sohyang has deep Christian roots and gospel is really what she has in her heart regardless the genre of songs she performs. i'm totally with you on not really being a churchgoer yet i absolutely adore gospel music, especially the powerful, big voiced & ideally, upbeat songs...a lot of people will mention "upon this rock" (again, i'm sure), it's definitely a great performance, just horrid audio quality in all versions i've seen thus far :(
so the other lesser known "church song" i love that sohyang sings is "his eye is on the sparrow". all versions are good but i'll edit this with a link to my favorite version (the only one i've seen with instrumental accompaniment, the others you'll find are all a cappella, that i'm aware of).
