They both did an excellent job! Love House Music. Too bad there aren't many pure House Music clubs anymore where you see folks "housing." I'm in my late 40s and remember when House Music was the thing.
I guess it depends on your region, where I live they still exist and the crowd is over 30s so the vibe resembles back in the day. In fact the same djs from 20 y ago still djing at these events.
They should name a wood floor cleaning product after Shan S...he always cleaning a floor up....that's my dude......Shan S Wood Pledge. 👍🏾 Miss them Wild Pitch days...
TRACKLIST/TUNES: 1. Sauvez Willy (Mth Remix) Margo Mango 2. 17945: Caiga La Bomba (Nestor delano & Jay Klos Remix) MAD-SIN & Downlow'd 3. Tried To Tell You (Karizma Told Ya Remix) Pete Moss 4. That first track is FIRE!!! DAMN!! Both dancers were VERY good but Mamson....in my honest opinion....is just ridiculously smooth and effortless with his movements. Mamson's range of motion is also incredible!! Perhaps because of his height...but for such a tall person, he can move very quickly! Best House dancer on the planet, IMHO!!.....Respect!
Can’t stop commenting on this one. Such the ultimate ‘changing of the guard’ in my opinion. Those who know, know. Those who don’t. Don’t stop keeping on.
wow, du grand art des deux côtés, mais alors Mamson, il était inarrêtable, à un autre niveau, pure vibe, sans doute l'une de ses meilleures performances !! Big Up au DJ pour les tueries, ça joue beaucoup.
Keep it honest folks. Shan S. Shan S. is a Jeti, and for well deserved reasons. Shan S. plays with calculus, you understand what I'm sayin. Shan S. owns intricate and complex control, steps, rhythms, and ears; His steps are of great complexity. You'll have taken the spirit out of my dance, for real. Wake Up!
Lou P 7thvenom yall really need to chill I understand Shan S is amazing and yall obviously are bitter because people dont "understand" his dance and he didnt win as a result but this WHOLE event is for fun and for the LOVE of music and dance.. the only thing that ruins it or spoils it is your hostility .. PEACE .. dont come at me with ohh do you know your house history.. I do as much as I can and have loved the music since I was a kid .. so just respect the message and house as a whole
It just seems to me that the European and Asian ( except for Hiro who is way dope) house dancers move like they learned the steps in dance class rather than feeling the music. It's a little too technical, especially when you can name the steps that they're doing. I guess I'm from the 80's and 90's era where the beat took you and controlled the flow.
Mamson has definitely gotten better. I've never seen a video of him looking as good as he did on that second round. As for him battling Shan S. Shan S isn't exactly a young dude in his prime. I get the feeling the french dancers really want to prove themselves against the older US guys, but it's never going to prove anything when you consider the age gap between the two. The US legends don't have the power they used to for the big moves, it's just the way things go. Ejoe, Shan S and Caleaf at their prime (and still today) make you smile and feel like you want to dance with them, Mamson, Kapela and Yugson are sometimes interesting to watch. Just my opinion. they have skill and talent for sure.
TheCubanGiant You just wrote the exact things I've thinking while watching these battles for years. I feel like the US legends shouldn't enter these battles and just do showcases, because as you said ,they've been dancing for 25 and have gotten older. Shan S is still the man, but when you look at older videos, he's a lot faster and slimmer than he is now. Like you said, they can still put on a good show and let these dancers know who put this whole house dance scene on the map!!!!!
lol thinking about it .. I know Mamson remembers the last song from earlier this year at House dance forever .. Congrats to both .. big ups to Mamson , Serial Stepperz & Wanted
Mamson was definitely dope and fiery, but Shan S held his own and was more musical to me, the 4th round with the latin joint is spot on. I don't feel like shan s moves like an old man at all, he's always had that flow. Definitely one with the music, but Mamson's hunger gave him an edge. Well done :)
Shan S doesn't move like an old man, but he has definitely lost a step or two because of his age and he's gotten heavier over the years. I just saw him over the weekend at an outdoor house event.
Dont only reason my boy shan didnt win..cus he didnt do any big floor moves..if he does some hand spin to elbow spin..da crowd would have went bananas trust me on dat
+Joe Alicea - This is my first time seeing shan, if he would have used some power movements hand spin to elbow joints. You are probable right he would have fair better. A big dude can't move as quick or fluid as Mamson. Yo ol boy is quick as lightening.
Eudy Taylor something to consider also, is that Shan S was a judge for this competition. The guy started going to house music parties in 86! You do the math. The guy must be 50+ years old. He's not trying to win competitions. He's trying to preach.
When you watch the vid you can tell the difference between someone who has nothing to prove and someone proving they can hang. Shan was chill the whole time. Look up 90's videos of Shan and you will see the difference. Mamson would have gotten smoked. Now Mamson is good and he has gotten a lot better over time but Shan didn't even use his full arsenal as he danced according to what he felt. That battle he just decided to chill.

Has anyone else ever noticed that Mamson is pretty much always off beat? Like each time I watch, I can never really tell what he is listening to. I get that his style is "loose" but rhythm is a whole other thing. As a dancer myself (and former musician), I'm wondering how has nobody ever pointed it out... PS: Shan S is a fuckin technician...you can tell he plays music/instruments.
Reginald Generoso nobody did pointed out because their notion of musicality is limited to the beat count 1 2 3 4 and catching accents. They don't know about the dancing with all instrument and the coherence between the transition from different sounds of the music transcribed through body movements. Which shan S does correctly. You can listen to the song through watching him dancing. Mamson is more technical than musical, that's why while watching him, sometimes he throw steps combos clean and well executed. But not always aligned with the songs components. On the other side Shan S, is cap able of throwing combo aligned with the time signature, instruments and vibe. Only musician can know the difference. Those Hip hop cat just know about the 1 (beat) inherited from the JB funk groove. House is more complex complex as you have to dance with the beat count and the open hi hat in between. But it's astronomy science for many.
Shan S has the kind of style that's not really made for battling, it's made for getting in a circle and giving people a lesson on smooth footwork and spins!!
They both did an excellent job! Love House Music. Too bad there aren't many pure House Music clubs anymore where you see folks "housing." I'm in my late 40s and remember when House Music was the thing.
Agreed... I'm 55 and can still groove to house music. I have been listening to it since I 16yrs old.
I guess it depends on your region, where I live they still exist and the crowd is over 30s so the vibe resembles back in the day. In fact the same djs from 20 y ago still djing at these events.
