'Limited Edition' usually means a sales pitch for an old, dated bike. A marketing ploy for the gullible.

Must be a design fault, that makes the speedometer go blurry under hard acceleration.

It may be that we are seeing the bike in a smaller screen but I think it’s gorgeous. I’ve always loved the Triumph brand. My second was a Cub 250 in 63. Almost a dirt bike but perfect for a 16 year old living in Guam where the limit was 45mph. I’ve always thought of Triumph as a prestige brand

They could have done so much better with the colour options on the modern triumphs. It seems they want to either matt paint things or use union jack decals. What happened to all the pretty gloss paints of yesterday?

Great work as always, saving us the bother of going out and riding these bikes or removing them from shortlists without testing ;-).

  • @jamesberry1177

I find it interesting that they only made this as a limited edition, it was easy for them to sell a limited run to existing Triumph owners but I guess they didn’t feel confident that they could take on the smaller engined sports bikes (V2, R6, etc) in the market full time / bigger volumes ? I used to own a street triple and changed as I wanted a faired bike, I wasn’t going to spend £15 k on the Daytona so they lost me as a customer to Ducati

Triumph are having a laugh ,for 15 grand it should be perfect & have a proper substantial seat & rear end & neater cables & such .The more carbon fibre tat I see on a motorcycle the less I want to look at it ,the material must be cheap as chips by now .Also never seen the point of an overpowered race type looking bike for public roads that have max speed limit 70 mph shared also by homicidal cage & wagon drivers . These motorcycles are expensive toys for those bikers who imagine they are some Moto GP ace or enjoy track days ,or Mr Flyer who has a passion for this genre .They are not for me ,I would require oxygen these days to ride at reckless speeds approaching 70 mph that these bikes can doubly exceed .Good honest review 👍

To be fair you bought your Ducati largely on it's looks. You admit you don't ride Ducati much because of the heat, harsh suspension and general poor ergonomics if I remember correctly
Logically I would NOT expect you to pick the Triumph or most any other brand or model over the spot you have for the Ducati given you stated positives, negatives expressed and previous preferences.
I could see maybe 2 or 3 people out of 10 selecting the Triumph because of it's positives. I guess it comes down to the weight the individual gives to what they prefer as much as it does to strictly objective criteria.
I have noticed my selections often don't necessarily follow a strict objective criteria.

£15000, never for that bike. Way too much. The word Special alone makes it more expensive.

Just looks dated Andy, also that front end is ugly. The yoke special edition number is a nice touch, my Ducati 749 R also has the same. Sadly, Ducati dropped the numbering

I've never known there been so many ugly bikes, most of the modern ones look like the plastic toys you used to get in cereal boxes. The Triumph doesn't look too bad. Lots of bikes have transformer looking front ends which look terrible . The retro bikes are a saving grace I suppose like the Kawasaki z900 and Honda Cbx 1100 etc but the 70's z900 was smarter than the new one and the old 70's cb 750 was actually faster on the top end than the current Cox 1100!

I'm not buying a triumph until this is a standard bike in the stable, and they adjust the ergonomics to match a Ducati Supersport 950S (a perfect road bike).

Apart from Triumph's modern retros, which are all IMO really good looking bkes. The triples all look as though the headlights are stuck on the front as an afterthought. They're too far in front and just look weird. The Daytona fairing is too pointy and so is the new 660 sports tourer. They seem to run out of imagination at the point where people most look at the bikes (after the tank). I don't think any of the light arrangements on the Street or Speed Triples are particularly bad, they just don't seem part of the bikes becaues they stick out too far. Very strange to me. I'd never buy any of the fast ones due to the appearance. Everything else on them appears top spec and lovely.
