This performance reinforces what I've always said about women's sport. "If you want to learn how a game is played, watch the women". Have refereed many many games at the collegiate men's level, my most memorable was a women's U18 final. Impeccable set pieces, creative open play.

Game nowadays have too many rules. Rugby is a contact sport. Its about rugby not rules. The only rules is knockon, forward pass or offside. Like i said, its a contact sport. Players get hurt. The player doesnt go out there to do it on purpose. You go for the tackle never intent to hurt your opposition. Accident happen in any sport. Thats my opinion.
a winger should be able to tackle or slow down any player (these are PROFESSIONAL athletes... people like me will not stop anyone)

I am a guy and I must admit these women's skill and energy on both sides is electric, immaterial of teams the womens rugby is just as exciting as that of the men but, it is a pity they don't get the same support as that of the men, too many empty seat, well played ladies.

After the Olympics, I'd love to see the USA sevens girls playing fifteens. The strong speedy Naya Tapper and the powerful offload queen Ilona Maher would give this team some power and punch. Alev Kelter and Sammy Sullivan are a deadly attacking threat too.

Otherwise, a game of two halves by the women in black. The first half was shocking; poor discipline, shocking handling, kicking was aimless. Fortunately, Steady-the-Ship Demant came on and the replacement forwards just bullied the Eagles' eight.
USA should focus on Sevens (both male and female should focus on SEVENS where they can actually upset top tier SEVEN teams as playing 15 is not easy as most want to do NBA/NFL and the rejects do Rugby Union)

I don't agree that all head-on-head contact that isn't intentional should be an immediate red card. I understand player welfare but watching the tackle unfold, you realise there is no malice in the contact itself and it is just unfortunate that the collision occurred. You can see at the 3'40 mark that the Kiwi half-back went in for a tackle on a taller opponent and was hit on the side by the opposition as she was making the tacking leading to a head-on-head collision. That should be yellow if anything because not only was it unintentional but you rob the game that's just started off a fair contest!
And the tackler was the half back..the shortest person in the team..😂😂😂😂

These red cards are annoying. They change the game so much. Just look at the last world cup final. Even that yellow against the Yank at 11:20 was too much. In almost any game you find enough to yellow or red half the players. Eventually this game will turn into touch rugby.

The Black Ferns started 8 new players for this game and Maia Roos became the youngest captain of the Fern’s, overall a tough test match and a satisfactory result, the Fern’s are going to have to play a few games a player short, to work on their stamina and fitness before the next World Cup

I doubt that management thought the USA would prove much of a challenge and it would be good for experience. Without the red card, it would have been.
And I've no idea what special skills Steinmetz has to be in the Black Ferns. In World Cup final, the very short time she went in for Ruhler, her decision to place kick the ball was pissed poor. And her missed tackles and feeble attempts at running the ball in an isolated position was also a decision that jeopardizes the whole team. This USA fortunately. Silly decision making like this against England or France would be met with heavy punishments!!!

Not good to get nine penalties in the 1st half having to play with two players down sloppy play in general around the field really needed to wake their ideas up in the 2nd half far from their best game. expected more from them, you don't expect passes to the winger going to no one over the sideline. a lot of mistakes by New Zealand. USA looked better because they made less mistakes, poor finishing overall poor game by them. 39-17 well done USA.
Expecting players to be perfect in a not perfect world, impossible.if everyone was perfect we would not need laws. Laws are too restrictive and do not allow common sense. Punish the team, supporters, fans at the grounds as it affects the quality of the game. Tackling lower is also dangerous to the tackler. Yellows are bad enough and to m7ch invovement from the officials. Slow motion amplifies it, does not help.

@@Rotavegas1 Doesn't matter what the USA were doing. I thought the ferns did well, but 9 penalties in the first half shows that something needs fixing. And they did make a lot of high tackles.
The ref is a joke..inconsistent and missed calls benefiting one side.

The game has become really soft that wasn't a high tackle it was just a head clash. What I call a high tackle is when a player wraps their arms around the other players head. Like in Rugby league a head clash is just a head clash and no penalty

women should get paid 0.1% of the highest pay for men in the same sport category. For example, if a rugby player gets paid $13 Million, then his female counterpart should only be paid 13,000 dollars (USD).
