    Solar scopes are usually small aperture because there is so much light intensity, that there is no need to gather more light. For that reason you can use the smaller aperture often available on the lens cover. That way you can save on filter material.

    • @DobsonianPower
      @DobsonianPower ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You get better and sharper details with more aperture with a newtonian. The price difference is insignificant. A dedicated solar scope is another world, though.

      Dobsonian solar scopes use unmirrored glass to reduce the amount of light hitting the eyepiece.

    Very interesting.. my telescope has a smaller diameter (about 5 inches) I will be 3D printing my frame ring for my film. And will sandwich the film between 2 layers if plexiglass for a consistently flat "lense" (to keep waves out of the film.).

  • @Martinko_Pcik

    Cool. I have made a ghetto filter compared to your solution. Wrapped the filter onto OTA, temporarily held it in place with a rubber band, and hand 3D printed the rim with the hot glue gun. It naturally created a perfect fit rim of a removable filter. It works great, but it looks "homemade" ;) Even a sticker would not hide that fact 😂

    $1 .50 emergency blanket. On a 80mm Use 2 layers for visual viewing use 3 for photography.. on bigger scopes you may need one more layer. But you get a ton of filters out of one blanket. And rubber band it over your objective. A lot of times if you pull the due guard and press it over your filter it will hold and stretch it perfectly tight. Your welcome. 🇺🇸

    Is it safe to use an open tube sky watcher heritage virtuoso gti with a shroud mod and a zwo camera lus a solar filter for solar. Worried about light leaking in around the shroud and frying the camera sensor

    Hi Tiago,
    Do you think the items you ordered will fit a 250mm/10" dob?

    • @DobsonianPower
      @DobsonianPower ปีที่แล้ว

      They won't. You have to take the measure of the tube outer perimeter and buy a mold which can fit that measure. Also the sheet is not enough, has to be a bigger one.

    Do you know the right solar filter in size for my Dobson 10 inch? ( I can only find it for 8 inch and below)

    • @DobsonianPower
      @DobsonianPower 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can turn around that building a filter that doesn't cover the full telescope aperture, which will be more than 10" (10" is the mirror). Use your imagination with materials like cardboard and use the larger sheet you can find. As the Sun is too bright, you will not loose many details.

    Olá Tiago1
    Sigo o teu canal regularmente, e aprendo bastante contigo!
    Há uns meses atrás também fiz uns filtros solares, com papel baader e cartão, mas não utilizei a abertura total do meu dob de 8''.
    Pelo que li, não há necessidade de utilizar toda a abertura, uma vez que, mesmo com o filtro a luminosidade é elevada. Não sei se se coloca também a questão do aumento da temperatura dentro do telescópio.
    A forma como adaptaste o filtro ao telescópio é excelente. Vou refazer o meu filtro com as tuas dicas.
    Por aqui não consigo enviar as fotos do meu filtro.
    Também sou do Algarve.
    Obrigado e boas observações,
    cumprimentos

    ... and to finish this... This channel 'is'... About dobsonians therefore Tiago helps 'people' that cannot afford a telescope to get the easiest to use that at the same time cover most usage including planet. Therefore this video reflects that and many astro retailers Know that. In UK they are avoiding to sell GOTO upgrade fir dobsonians, guess why? ££££££ greed!
    I use sct at present, but also use refractor and dobsonian intially which I still have. My future will probably be a large goto dobs in a fixed place or with a motorised trailer ! EASIER... especially as you get older....

      There's a market for everybody. It's better to allow an entry point with less money and later, eventually convert them in a hobby addict like us rather than place them a financial wall that many people will just turn the back to and we all loose. Hopefully brands may see that.
