what other two pieces of gear are the perfect match??

This makes me thinky the circuit rhythm and the Ableton move in this same sort of setup. circuit for all the drums machine features and the move as the synth. Thx @Taetro for the inspiration!

I've been looking at a NTS3 Kaoss Pad to pair with the Ableton Move for quick and fun jam sessions. The two things the
Move is missing most for me are punch-in effects and Chord mode. I think the Kaoss Pad would make it even more fun to jam.

I hope Polyend Synth and Ableton Move are a dream team (for Dub Techno). I just ordered the synth. Does anybody know, if the midi host of the Move is powerful enough to power up the Synth?

      digitakt 2 and digitone 2
128 step sequencers in tandem.nice 24 bit fx. 2 side chain comps.
control all tracks at the same time with exclusion of specific tracks,
probability has 3 levels, 0-100% on one, 1-2 or 4-4 or whatever like the p6 and a knob to make it react to fill button or not.
the electron horizontal tracker workflow really was elevated with the 2nd gen boxes.
      nice video my friend

I have both of these devices but haven't tried them out together yet - thanks for the inspiration/tips! Also, 💯 agree with your thoughts at the end. Great video.

This is such a great idea. The ableton move has always looked interesting to me, the biggest thing holding me back is the 4 track thing. I love the idea of it being able to sequence external gear but since it uses up a whole track I feel like that limits it a bit. (have experience with this workflow since i did this a lot on the circuit tracks) This is a great way to move the drum sequencing off and free up one of those tracks. Definitely makes me think more about purchasing. If ableton updated move so it could externally sequence 4 additional tracks it would be an insta-buy for me.

The probability option on the P-6 are one of my favorite aspects. If Roland put those option in to the SP-404 MK2 it’d be brilliant!

GREAT video. Love these combos, especially when I have the gear already....LOL

Actually, this sounds like a very affordable and portable setup. The P6 frees a bit the limited tracks from the Move, but you get the Move's synths and nice sketchpad capabilities from it.

1000% agree on the move (and the sentiment ofc). I think it absolutely delivers on the product vision and it got me creating real fast. thank you for that message and that combo highlight... already opened one of them 'research' tabs ;)

Nice! Love my P-6 and glad to see it getting some action! Personally i will be tying the P6 with some of my pocket operators, though i have found great results just sampling from VSTs on my computer 😅
About that last part; ive learned to take all these negative reactions to gear announcements/releases with a guant chunk of salt. People will complain online while not even owning or having tried something themselves and I wouldnt have gotten half of my setup if i just listened to them. The big shame though, is all that time complaining could be spent creating.

I have a ko2 but really want a p6. The ability to use it as an effects processor for external gear is just such a huge thing. I have so many pieces of gear I could use it with. Guitar, micro freak, bass, opz, woovebox, s1, on and on. I need to get one

You're right about the hot takes being more rewarded. I also think there's like a preemptive "FOMO" combat. People WANT to try new things, but they can't afford it, so they convince themselves and others that what they have now is better.
Very common in the video game wars, too. If every Playstation owner could afford and did own an X-Box, they would do MUCH less shit talking.

Agreed. And thanks for the thoughtful analysis, @Taetro. I have observed how the knee-jerk, negative reactions tend to come from the a certain class of people. It might stem from being economically underprivileged, but it may also just be a personality type. In any case, a pattern seems to be that they echo one another without reflecting on whether a product meets one of their personal needs. Case in point: there are people who have been moaning senselessly for years about trivial Apple product design flaws (e.g., placement of the Magic Mouse charging port), which are utterly inconsequential to many actual users of said products. We must ignore the noise of these individuals and continue producing constructive works.

I like the move but it didn’t communicate with my other midi devices. I tried 3 arrangements and even the wifi connection. Wasn’t working with my set up.
I’ll probably buy it again this year around Black Friday. A sketch pad that I can hook up to one midi device at a time will work for me. As intended

p6 and syntakt and digitakt workflows are similar. the probability stuff is the main way i make drums on hardware too. p6 looks great.

I wonder if it would also work with a 1010music Tangerine or Razzmatazz

  • @jean_voyage

I think at this point in the history of the development of disposable music electronics, negative reactions are to a large extent intuitive reactions people, in the face of having been shafted with pointless purchases quite a few times, have towards companies’ weak attempts at distortion creatives realities. They happen as an extreme mirroring of the hype train rhetorics that is everywhere with every new product release. With the Move you can clearly see that many early negative reactions where in direct reference to the promo video and its ridiculous scenarios. I think it shows that more people than even two or three years ago don’t buy it anymore (pun intended).

    • @Taetro
      @Taetro  6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

Idk who is classifying the music tech as disposable, but I think this is probably coming from a place of FOMO for a lot of people. Instead of going deep with a device they bought two years ago, it’s easier (and fun!) to get a new shiny thing. So if the tech is viewed as “disposable” it’s because the people buying it are treating it that way. I have old gear that is very much still functional and great.
Important thing to note is that the Move promo features real producers doing their thing, it’s not surprising that a broad majority of hobbyists can’t relate to the imagery there, but I also don’t think a dark basement makes a very aspirational ad. So the question is, why are folks not inspired by this imagery anymore? Why have they grown to resent it?
We used to be in a very aspirational time for music tech where people saw these tools as an opportunity to make something great, but now I feel a lot of folks feel resentment triggered by the FOMO of wanting the latest and greatest. It becomes less about the art you can make with the tech but about a balance sheet of features.
No one is forcing anybody to buy anything and if it’s true that you can get more engagement on a Reddit post being snarky than a clip of your music, I can see why a lot of people go for the snark 🤷

still need to take your theory and ableton courses 😅

I really wish my Roland TR6S would sync with Move. I have briefly tried my Behringer RD6 and it works fine tho , but tbh I only bought the RD6 for the same reason I bought the TD3 because they are PURPLE!!!!!

Do you see the Roland P-6 and the Polyend Synth as a viable pair (maybe to take the Polyend Synth beyond the "ambient" space it mostly seems to fill)?

I like critical videos cause companies often sell the hype by influencers and do not deliver at the end. There was few times when I bought the instrument and, when I play on it I was like "how on earth this influencer have not told that this do not work". There is nothing like "hate" for music gear... those are products, we buy them for money and have every right to be critical, especially that hardware music gear is not exactly cheap hobby. I won't cry over a company that some people do not like, they do not bother about me for sure.
