I've been to the Ara Pacis and find it to be one of the most reverential structures & locations in Rome; it is absolutely precious (& priceless) to European culture. Good little video for ARL and I greatly admire all that AIRC does.
A big miss is mentioning the meandering solar symbol (a.k.a, sun wheel, sun cross, tetra-gammadion, swastika, etc.) in a large band that goes all around the Ara Pacis; although, I'm not surprised it was skipped, thanks to WWⅡ. The sun wheel is found _everywhere_ in Ancient Greece, Rome, & elsewhere throughout the world; it is a prehistoric symbol and this meandering shape, in particular, is readily identifiable with (Indo-)European peoples since prehistory, adopted by our Greeks & Romans and used commonly throughout Europe, including Nordic/Northern people, up to the early 20th century CE (late 28th AUC). The ignorant fear bred into the average person (due to the narrative of WWⅡ) when they see a sun-wheel symbol, really must end and that is long overdue; if AIRC can do their small part in breaking the cycle of fear & ignorance, that would be a great start.
Even in videogames based in Antiquity, when you run into temples with expected bands of sun wheels, you see the commonly altered version-it's just sad. It is high time for all of us to grow up and to take the sun-wheel symbol back from the WWⅡ narrative.

Beautifully reconstructed! "Cum Ex Hispania Galliaque Rebus In Iis Provincis Prospere Gestis, Romam Redi, T. Nerone P. Quintillio Consulibus, ARAM PACIS AUGUSTAE Senatus Pro Reditu Meo Consecravit In Campum Martium, In Qua Magistratus, Et DSacerdotes, Et Virgines Vestales Anniversarum Sacrificium Facere Jussit."

I think it's a place of judgement by Augustus. A place where he could be protected from assassins. Cool in summer. And not so cold in winter. And people waiting in line for their day in court.

It's not Peace nor Venus... It's Tellus, the goddess of Abundance!

@@AncientRomeLive Indeed It's "TELLUS" or 'TELL US' All about JULIA, the authentic live model for TELLUS! She was the Daughter of AUGUSTUS with Her Sons GAIUS and LUCIUS-begoten by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa. But She was also portraying TELLUS's Alter Ego: the Personification ROMA (who'se Alter Ego was Venus or Aphrodite, being the ancestress of Julius Caesar's Family Line...and then back to TELLUS, again, but as as "ABUNDANCE" through the "deified" Concept's own 2 sons: PEACE and PLENTY. What a shrewd Statesman-Politician AUGUSTUS truly was, and it all really worked out FOR A TIME, til successive Tragedies struck to subtly and latently cause this political-propagandic functioning success to unexpectedly wither-away by ensuing tragic circumstances , during Caesar Octavian's Life, and then more so after His Death in A.D. 14, with the accession of Tiberius, and then to the very last Julio-Claudian HEIR NERO.....Then supreme CRISIS wrought in another Dynasty of Emperors....But the Basic Formula created by AUGUSTUS still Worked, howbeit in recalibrated form by other imperial Lines of Succession....until the very end: 476.
