I had the privilege and honor of being the slapstick guy for the Ohio Symphony Orchestra.
I was picked at random and brought on stage. The conductor asked me if I had any musical knowledge.
I told him he was in luck because I am a percussionist.
In front of nearly 1000 people I successfully hit every slapstick note for this piece. 🙏🏻

A couple of Christmases ago we did this, and I was playing the 6 foot long slap stick. The conductor said he wanted it louder. I played it progressively louder until he remarked right before the performance that he wanted it as loud as I possibly could make it... and it’s now a 5 foot long slap stick, because the last foot basically imploded on the last note 🤣. We were supposed to play it again this year, and I was supposed to play the jingle bells because I can no longer be trusted with the slap stick!
