A 1°c rise in global temperature is an absolutely enormous amount of extra energy. That energy has to go somewhere because energy isn't used up, it just gets converted to another form so it goes into stronger storms and hurricanes, more rain, heavier snowfalls, rising sea levels and more heat and fires.
Listen Damien, do you know that since the end of the last ice age the temperature have risen some 10 degrees C?... you know that America have been in a socalled hurricane drought and the number of storm reaching landfall is below average?... that global warming shouldn't lead to more snowfall at all, and that the sea is in fact not rising... Al Gore predicted not long ago that the North Pole would be ice free in 2014..."the entire ice cap would be gone in five years"... how do you think your high priests predictions are going?
Heatwave not just in Europe, but everywhere. Australia is currently experiencing a castraphotic heatwave that is starting bush fires and a lot of people have been evacuated. And the drought is not making it any better
On 30 June, Death Valley, California hit 129.2 °F (54.0 °C) which is the hottest temperature ever recorded on Earth during the month of June. It was five degrees shy of the world record highest temperature measured in Death Valley, which was 134 °F (57 °C), recorded in July 1913.
how about explaining how self reinforcing feedback loops work, and giving information on methane, albedo and water vapour feedbacks and maybe nodding in the direction of a global emergency
The weather in Scandinavia has been insane recently. We haven’t had rain in months now. We’ve basically only had warm, sunny weather since early may. It’s so dry here now, that forest fires are considered a catastrophic threat.
A tax on c02 yes cause money sure fixes our problems. I live in Switzerland one of if not the richest country in the world and I can tell you that I always thought that we'd be immune to climate change cause we could just buy our way out of everything. The thing is that our glaciers will be gone in 10 years we have almost snowless winters and now a massive drought. Our wealth doesn't do shit against climate change.
This recent heat wave is another example that makes it clear that we don’t have to wait 10-50 years to see how climate change will affect us. People across the globe are being impacted today.
July 1757 heatwave, Europe, hottest summer in 500 years prior to 2003. 1896 Eastern North America heat wave killed 1,500 people in August 1896. 1901 eastern United States heat wave killed 9,500 in the eastern United States. 1906 - During the 1906 United Kingdom heat wave which began in August and lasted into September broke numerous records. On the 2nd temperatures reached 36 °C (96 °F) which still holds the September record however some places beat their local record during September 1911 and September 2016. 1911 - The 1911 United Kingdom heat wave was one of the most severe periods of heat to hit the country with temperatures around 36 °C (97 °F). The heat began in early July and didn't let up until mid September where even in September temperatures were still up to 33 °C (92 °F). It took 79 years for temperature higher to be recorded in the United Kingdom during 1990 United Kingdom heat wave. So on and on. Shall I carry on or not necessary?
Exactly, cities and black roads increase the albedo. More foliage as well as painting the roads white would help. There are a few cities that have painted their roads white.
They should paint them WHITE (the asfalt roads!) to make the heat reflect back into the air! All roofs of houses should be painted white as well. I don't understand why they do not start doing this on a massive scale!
Pea Stone are you daft? Have you considered emissions making all that paint would emit? Have you considered that the road would need repainting because tires are black. Have you considered all the extra emissions that would result to operate machinery to paint the road? We have idiots like you making bs policy changes with no idea about what they are on about.
remove the asphalt, remove houses, remove all things were left behind by man since the beginning of "civilisation ",remove humans from earth and then the paradise will be back.
Why is it getting hotter on earth..eh us stupid humans we dont deserve this once beautiful planet...once were all gone and extinct the planet and wildlife will be safe...
The entire industrial population is engaged in destructive activity. not just the !%.. It does not matter if you jailed the 1% and ran industrial society by coöperative or whatever. The planet still gets destroyed. It does not matter if you have only 10 people on Earth running industrial society. Planet gets destroyed the same.
Is it the the cars of the elite that pollute or is it all cars? Is it the planes of the elite which pollute or are the millions of cheap flights polluting as well? Does the elite force them to go to Costa del Sol and get drunk? Does the elite force them to poison their gardens and play Pokémon? No they don't. The entire industrial population is engaged in destructive activity. not just the elite.
I think its time to call Nasa to have them install a giant 4 x tennis court size , heat resistant silver fabric pref with ultra violet filter that orbits Earth to reflect some of the Suns rays away from Earth.
The hot weather last summer was caused by the JET STREAM being south-north over Western Europe instead of the usual west-east. Since that means the JET STREAM wind came from north Africa, that also explains the unusual drought.
*Silent ventilators* is a solid investment for the summer ! Let's hope we can turn this trend around, otherwise we will be broke from AC cooling expenses.
We are in the last home stretch now guys another 10 years and the world will become inhospitable, well done humans you have officially destroyed the planet
I really liked what she said starting at 3:11 and 3:32. In my city of Houston, Texas, USA we have large parking lots with no trees, and some greenery would certainly help with the "heat island" effect. Greenery would also help wildlife and, in the case of my city, mitigate flooding.
Our temperature in the Philippines is even hotter these days though we are supposed to be in rainy season. It’s almost like summer in the months March to August
The last part of this discussion is the most important. Reducing taxes on activities we want to encourage (e.g., employing people, etc.) while increasing taxes on the things we want to discourage (e.g., polluting the atmosphere, etc.) is the way that we make the economy work better and the way we account for the full costs of things.
You should read sometime. These things as well as many other beautiful things has been EXPLAINED and USED for humanity. That is why you can take out ur phone ,hop on the internet and say something that is biblically dumb.
In its travel through interstellar space, the Heliosphere travels in the direction of the Solar Apex in the Hercules Constellation. 3:15 I think they forgot how insulation works, it also keeps the cold air in the building and lowers the amount of cold air and energy you need to use to keep the building at a reasonable. It works both ways.
This year we in Montenegro (Balkan) have had one of the "coldest" summer. Usually temperatures are 37-39 in July, but in July 2018 - 33 Celsius was maximum with a lot of unusual clouds and rain. In August temperatures are usually above 40, but this August 36 is the highest so far.

A lot of disturbing comments here about some sort of conspiracy. I remember INSANELY cold winters with ice everywhere and guaranteed snow that wouldn't melt for weeks and that would happen every year.
If it's really hot, close the blinds before it gets to 80 or while the house is still cool (like in the morning) it will keep in the cool. Open the windows when the sun goes down and the air is cool. It will let in cold air, keep it in, and keep out hot air.
Why would a tax be mentioned in USA $? The USA has no intention of cutting back on carbon emissions and are pushing for more gas coal and oil throughout, and have pulled out the Paris deal. People will still need insulated houses to keep air conditioning in, having temperature controlled buildings is important to have good insulation. If sea levels rise it will not only impact what crops we grow, it will devastate mass amounts of people and infrastructure. The heatwave was not explained at all! but maybe an excuse to add a tax.
I was in Europe in 1983 and there was a heat wave for a few weeks and major freak out, people were hanging out naked in the parks in Germany (people you didn't really want to see naked) and the press was all about how the world was going end. It wasn't even really all that hot, 33C to 35C and the dew points never got higher than 17C so it wasn't humid. I just had to laugh at the Europeans who all seemed to think they were going to melt like butter.
Here’s the thing. Back about 400-500 years ago there was exceptional heat in March in the uk and Europe. Very extreme weather in autumn too and a storm with such strong winds that it sounded like booming thunder. If more extreme conditions happened centuries ago then how could we possibly link that to global warming and not just part of the earth’s natural cycle? Our proper records only date back to around 1910 which is just a smudge of how long this planet has been around for! NOT GLOBAL WARMING. Even in 1910 there was a widespread drought and exceptional heatwave across Europe with temperatures hitting a maximum of 35.7 degrees Celsius in the uk and lasting for days on end
...by half a degree. Move on, nothing to see here. The lefties concentrate on issues (like global warming and cooling) that are almost totally out of human control. Meanwhile, they making excuses for the shocking decline of civilisation, things that they could change, but no... they just moan.
I live in Arizona, we have had two consecutive days with temperatures at 118-120 Fahrenheit or even higher in some places. oxyman10 Arizona is a hot place tho. Here in blighty we usually get two days sun, two day rain, two days grey and cold and repeat. Our roads are melting and old folk are keeling over cuz we're not used to it! There's lots of cherry blossom trees near me and they all dropped their cherries while they were still green cuz the trees were wilting
A little bit of midday sun (10 to 20mins) without sunscreen helps prevent heart disease and other diseases. UK had a cold winter and we're going into a solar minimum which increase chance of volcanic eruptions which will cool the earth further as will the quiet sun.
Maybe heatwaves have happened years before.. But we are increasingly facing extreme conditions and of course, greenhouses gases are most likely the culprit, beside the cutting down of trees, mining, shrinking of rainforests.
Our great mother is tired of guests who does what they want. Messy, careless and insisting on moving the furniture around. She could have decided to clean house and given us the boot.
We want to adapt but where is the bit about reducing our impact on climate change? Meat consumption, green energy, localised production of goods and services.
I don't have a car. I travel by train-- our progress is so slow concerning global warming-- I want to vote Green every election because without the planet we live on what is the point of any of the other issues, you know...
What's behind the hot weather? I'll tell you. It's the countless shoes, clothes, we buy. It's the countless tours we take all around the globe. It's the countless new electronic gadgets we buy. So basically the weather has turned to shit because of our lifestyle choices.
Notice how she speaks about the 1950's. Does it cross your mind to wonder why she chose the 1950's? I'll tell you why. Prior to the 1950's there were a number of years where there were high temperatures and climate change evangelists don't want you to know about that. In fact the IPCC charts that are printed start in the 1960's because they don't want you to know that 1940's were actually quite hot and then cooled off in the 1950's. So quite understandably a rise in temperature since the 1950's looks dramatic if you don't realise that prior to that time temperatures were also high.
Solving climate change is going to be tough. Get rid of cars and trucks, ban medicine and vaccines, stop burning fossil fuels, stop all manufacturing, eliminate farming, halt production of concrete, etc. If the human species does all these things today, not in a weeks time, we might , just might, keep average warming to rcp 6. The forecast is not looking good.
Patrick Barry another brainwashed individual! We cannot stop it. Climate change has been a part of the Earth’s natural cycle since life began. These last 100 year records are only covering 0.00002202% of the earth’s life to be exact! Definitely no way we can draw conclusions from that!
For so many years African countries have been reeling under drought and temperature rise, nobody cares. Now that the developed countries are feeling the heat, it's a grave issue rit. Keep on waiting until u feel it, rather than checking issues right at the beginning.
AWResistance Adapt and survive to build bigger mass graves and make sure you fit in to when you yourself die? There is no way us pathetic humans can simply _adapt_ to this. We must fight it. The animal kingdom including us evolved to fit the earth, now that it is changing rapidly *nobody* can keep up. Not even the epitome of evolution, the most intelligent beings in the known universe... Nobody. Unless you're really rich, yeah that helps.
Its Alien manipulation of our climate. We dont eat raw chicken so how can we expect ET to eat raw humans. They are cooking us to a nice medium well done. Its only right. Order up!
you brits think that 25c is a heatwave come to aus where the temp is 40+ for weeks on end in summer, or maybe here's a tough invest in a air-con rather then winge
Possibly the most sensible comment on here yet
Thank you

Nailed it in language anyone can understand.
@Nunovia Gottdamnedbizzness In a simplified way, That's exactly how energy works.
Jimmy Saville burning in hell has created more heat than expected.
I hate the summer! Why do people like to cook themselves alive?
That’s how I see it, unless I’m swimming or it’s the max 25/26
Oh iam so with you my friend! I absolutely despise summer and the heat! Roll on a cold autumn and winter
The last statement has some logic to it.
how about explaining how self reinforcing feedback loops work, and giving information on methane, albedo and water vapour feedbacks and maybe nodding in the direction of a global emergency

That man lying out practically naked is not too smart. In hot temperatures you need to cover up your skin.
Naomi Beery good investigation
Joel Ashworth cancer
Joel Ashworth so you wouldn't want to get roasted by the sun.
maybe he's having a good time. leave the boy alone
It's more about time exposed than surface area.
Two Words: Global Warming ! 🙄
One word: brainwashed.

Good thing you gave us your point of view on the matter. Oh wait...you didn't lol :)

Jay Kay Agreed! But I love heatwaves😀
Wouldn't say he is entirely to blame but he certainly is not helping combat global warming

Nah. Next summer will no doubt be much cooler and raining almost everyday.
JAMES WHITELEY I really hope your right I can’t stand this heat I would much rather it be snowing a blizzard than this
Have a cold shower and put some chilled cans in a bag.
JAMES WHITELEY cheers mate will give it a shot 👍😂
No temperatures this year are abnormal to the world so no it's just normal

Yea im in Houston too yea too much concrete

In INDIA normally 40*c, but now 45*c.
In finland usual summer is 15*c. This summer was about 30*c up im the north
Y’all avoiding the painful truth; tide goes in, tide goes out. You CANT explain that, neither can global warming!
You should read sometime. These things as well as many other beautiful things has been EXPLAINED and USED for humanity. That is why you can take out ur phone ,hop on the internet and say something that is biblically dumb.
You still asking question!! The globalism are to blame.. The chemtrail are the one making the heatwave..

This hot dry weather will be the norm around the globe if geo engineering doesnt stop. Media need to look into this more.
That graph was hilarious. That massive spike representative of 0.77 of a degree. GG
The world is going to an end.

Finally the first decent English Summer in 42 years. Something must seriously be wrong!
Try to check also Korea
Heat wave there is more severe than used to be in Japan
One hot summer and people are taking it as a trend. It was even hotter in the UK over 40 years ago (36.7C at Heathrow in 1976).
Not as new for Asians though. Summers always been killing there. But it's true that every year the intensity increases. Winters are becoming too short that it feels like it's summer all year and in that only few days of "no summer" which used to be cold winters.
I guess people would start stockpiling Sunscreen creams!!! 😅
The volatility in the volatility of the weather is increasing because of the industrial and human effect on the composition of the atmosphere.
Not true.
Very clever, I like the idea it sounds sustainable
taxes are not the one big solution
UK, my suggestion that every household should really have 2in1air-conditioning
Because that will help reduce carbon emissions
Also do u really think everyone can afford an air conditioner? I damn well can't
Patcha Kara it doesn't make a long-term solution yeah you can relieve for a day but we should and must find the long-term solution
You're not that bright
I was in Europe in 1983 and there was a heat wave for a few weeks and major freak out, people were hanging out naked in the parks in Germany (people you didn't really want to see naked) and the press was all about how the world was going end. It wasn't even really all that hot, 33C to 35C and the dew points never got higher than 17C so it wasn't humid. I just had to laugh at the Europeans who all seemed to think they were going to melt like butter.
Ironically we in Saudi Arabia having unusual cool summer this year yeah 😂😅
It's 90 two weeks in a row here in Seattle with no rain
Let's get the crops and livestock to adapt too. Its nice to have cool buildings, but I'd rather have food.
Yay they showed a footage of my city when they mentioned Japan.
... probably the only happy thing in this video.

It seems like each year it gets hotter and hotter.. and winter get colder and colder. I feel sorry for future generations
Ireland has been crazy hot...... The green Emerald Isle turned yellow... This has no doubt something to do with global warming.
1976 & 2018 two great summers in 42 years.
97, 98 and 06 were hotter than this year
did you even see what he was trying to say? the AVERAGE temperature is much higher than '76.

Does this mean the winters in uk are going to be colder or warmer?
A little bit of midday sun (10 to 20mins) without sunscreen helps prevent heart disease and other diseases. UK had a cold winter and we're going into a solar minimum which increase chance of volcanic eruptions which will cool the earth further as will the quiet sun.

There is no heat in the Balkans this year, no summer at all. Something strange is happening here too
I hate hearing this. I have Multiple Sclerosis and can't live in this heat.
funny how everybody is experiencing a heat wave and in eastern Europe it has been raining everyday for 2 months...what s going on
Heatwave in Britain?... you had one of the longest and wettest winters and springs ever, in fact it probably wrong to call it spring.
We also had a really cold winter.
No wonder I've been sweating like crazy

Does it cross your mind to wonder why she chose the 1950's?
I'll tell you why. Prior to the 1950's there were a number of years where there were high temperatures and climate change evangelists don't want you to know about that.
In fact the IPCC charts that are printed start in the 1960's because they don't want you to know that 1940's were actually quite hot and then cooled off in the 1950's. So quite understandably a rise in temperature since the 1950's looks dramatic if you don't realise that prior to that time temperatures were also high.
So now we have to adapt but not make action to reverse the trend of high temperature.
you cant explain global warming when it is God's punishment to what you have done wrong
''more places to stand in parks to get out the heat'' .. YES they are called trees, stand under one!
now who said climate change is fake?
It's hot, get over it already.
Adapt and survive.
AWResistance *improvise, adapt overcome*
AWResistance
Adapt and survive to build bigger mass graves and make sure you fit in to when you yourself die? There is no way us pathetic humans can simply _adapt_ to this. We must fight it. The animal kingdom including us evolved to fit the earth, now that it is changing rapidly *nobody* can keep up. Not even the epitome of evolution, the most intelligent beings in the known universe... Nobody.
Unless you're really rich, yeah that helps.
Christopher Jacobsen,
lol, talk about an over-reaction. I was speaking merely about England's mini-heatwave, which isn't even that bad.
Because poles shifting
It’s not hot. It’s normal.
"Average temperature" of course is a misnomer by any stretch of the imagination
Food supply collapse as per traditional farming systems ...and biodiversity extinct on a gigantic scale ...
Its Alien manipulation of our climate. We dont eat raw chicken so how can we expect ET to eat raw humans. They are cooking us to a nice medium well done. Its only right. Order up!
i was in the sun for 10 minutes... never got sunburnt this bad
2018 heatwave explained... Summer. Your welcome.
Who is WE?
The heatwave has already triggered one of my epileptic seizures that have a 5% chance of death... The future heatwaves are gonna kill me... -_-
you brits think that 25c is a heatwave come to aus where the temp is 40+ for weeks on end in summer, or maybe here's a tough invest in a air-con rather then winge
