Reaaaally wish I'd seen this video when I saw episode 12. Looks like I'm going to be taking my new engine apart again haha Guess I need to buy some ring gap gauges!
I added some links to your videos to the fa50 Facebook group. FA50 has similar upgrade path for many components plus everybody is always interested in the big brother to their FA50
I like it. Rocket Science + Brain Surgery = Rocket Surgery. (Half the time working on my scoot and being driven nuts it seemed like "Rocket Surgery" too!)
Hey I just found one of these and I am having a problem putting my petcock back on I forgot witch fuel line goes where!!! Can you tell me? I never messed with a air vacuum one.. and ring gap I didn’t know thanks for info
Uh... I can't remember off-hand, but having a basic understanding of how the fuel system works will help. "ON" (Normal) draws fuel from the highest fuel port on the petcock... when the fuel runs down too low, switch the petcock to "RES" (reserve) to draw the remaining fuel from the tank.
oh wow glad i said something. no problem man, im glad that you caught it in time...i think i could hear the ring binding on the ports, sounded like a bell...ouch as for the dieseling, your compression was also increased due to the lack of blowby from the closed gap..that could be a factor but im not sure... edit= did you upjet your carb?
Yeah... once I solved the slide issue, it ran perfectly fine after. I don’t have any signs of a vacuum leak anywhere. And I was pretty thorough about sealing everything.
good to hear. Generally you want the ring gap to fall between 0.180mm and probably 0.380mm would be my guess for that 45mm piston. I've bought several used cylinders on eBay only to find that the ring gap was way out of spec - like 0.45mm all the way up to 1.2mm. Excessive ring gap will lead to piston chatter although sometimes you can fix that by adding the expansion ring that some kits come with. I'll check farther down into the cylinder jug and take different measurements as per your comment. Anyhow, now I'm looking for solutions to use these out of spec cylinders short of re-boring them. And to try to be thorough for the sake of others new to this stuff - The lower ring gap needs be 0.002” bigger then the top ring (of course, how do you measure that).
i actually missed the comment about the slide being the issue. so i assumed that the problem persisted....Always finish the video before commenting,lol........
How do you install the throttle cable to the oil pump and make that spring snap back I took it off and for got how to put back on.. I really don’t want to use it at all.. what do I use to plug it?? Help!
But I usually start by threading the screw in all the way (lightly), then turning it 2.5 turns out as a starting point, then adjusting it in or out depending on what it needs.
The suzuki service manual says 1 and 3/4 turns out. For the throttle screw start with it all the way in and back it out once it's running, the manual says 1500rpm but that's not exactly easy to figure out without a tach!

Can you mount your camera on a headband so your hands are free?

@@nastynatesscooters9896 It's been a while since I owned mine, so I can't be of very much help, I'm sorry!
It’s all good I get irritated at it then eventually figure it lol
Do you remember how fast yours went? I got mine running. I goes about 30 but I feel like it should be faster.. it’s a awesome bike tho
Hello, what are your carb adjusments? How many turns did you give the srews for the gas and air?
I don't recall, honestly.
But I usually start by threading the screw in all the way (lightly), then turning it 2.5 turns out as a starting point, then adjusting it in or out depending on what it needs.
@@bbishoppcm ok thank you the engine rattles for a few seconds and then stops. Do you now what it needs more or less?

Hey ! Where did you got your carb kit?
The Suzuki dealer - same place I ordered everything else
