This is a video of the British high jump record, not the world record. The world record was set in 1949 by Chilean Cpt. Alberto Larraguibel on a horse called Huaso -- they jumped 2.47 meters (8 ft 1 in). 🏇
@Another Headache The Australians had these high jump competitions at many official shows early last century. Great care was taken to have official measurements and records. Some of Australia's High Jump horses were sold to the UK and at least one I know of performed presentation jumping at Wembley in the mid 1930s and jumped the then English record of 7'7". It was performed by a "clumper" type of horse, once known in Australia. Most likely a Suffolk Punch cross gelding named Gold Meade. He was trained in NSW by the King Bros, who trained other 8 foot horses at the time. In 1948 he was ridden by Jack Martin from Kyogle NSW to his win over the 8'6" height in Cairns QLD. To quote the article: "...He scattered about 5 or the 9 bars, but as the top one was among those left standing he was officially, and correctly, credited with the world record.". "...Cairns took its high jump seriously. The Resident Government Surveyor and his staff carried out the official measuring.".

Not to take anything away from this performance, which is spectacular. Not least with the ease in which it is executed. However, less than 100 years ago records show horses were jumping even higher than this. The Australians had these high jump competitions at many official shows early last century. Great care was taken to have official measurements and records. Some of Australia's High Jump horses were sold overseas and at least one I know of named "Look Out" performed at Wembley in the mid 1930s and jumped the then English record of 7'7". There were no independent witnesses that day and photographic evidence doesn’t show the take off side so could have been higher than the landing. Seems funny it’s not been bettered or matched since.
What a HORSE!!! 🌟🌟🌟AMAZING!🌟🌟🌟 (And yes, you can have loooong conversation about the skill of the rider/abuse of the horse. But all that is a background chatter when compared to the fact of how super SPECIAL and BEAUTIFUL this horse is!!!)
That’s not true in this case at all. This horse had zero stress coming off this fence. None. We don’t ask just any horse to do this. They have to have the athletic power, want, strength and confirmation. You act like we don’t mind seeing our high 6 figure horses suffer or something. Watch this horse again. Zero hyper flexion on landing. Astonishing horse

Don’t feel bad for the horse! The horse actually started jumping on its own and kinda asked the owner to train jumping, the horse was wearing protective bandages around his legs and since jumping that high wasn’t a regular activity it wasn’t damaging! If you’re interested in the horse there’s a documentary about it called Harry & Snowman
Whoever says that this hurts the horse are wrong I can see where u r coming from but this horse is a jumping horse and is build for this kind of jumps the rider had no intention of hurting his horse and this was a popular showjumping competition so if it would hurt the horse it wouldn’t have been pit in there in the first place
DAY6 ASTRO BTS My Day AROHA A.R.M.Y it might not of hurt the horse when it jumped the jump. But that horse is going to have serious damage from the amount of strain put on its legs.
Jasmine Findlay no actually no offense the horse never had problems because the horse was wearing the leg boots which protect its boots and he didn’t do this everyday
To those who think this is animal cruelty...observe wild horses on the open range for awhile and you will find they are naturally capable of these extraordinary feats and do so more often than most would imagine.
That’s absolutely a sadistic and unfounded and negative comment. This horse was a God. Absolutely loved this and if you watch again he had zero hyper flexion coming off the fence. None. He was conformationally correct and strong and had the want to do it. It’s so few horses ever asked to this. And so let me ask you this- you think it’s for money? You realize he probably won 15k usd and the horse is worth 7-900,000k? Why would anyone ruin a horse worth a million dollars to make what’s probably 10k after you pay your travel expenses etc. Not everything is abuse. Like I wear spurs and you probably would think I am abusing my horse? No I am proving to anyone watching that I can ride in any type Of spur and it never touches my horse because my equitation is so strong. Same reason finished cowboy horses almost go in a knife spoon bit. You think it’s cause the person is abusing the horse. No that’s wrong. Just showing up in such a bit proves you never ever touch your horses mouth. We take world class care of world class horses. We don’t abuse horses. They are our best friends, business partners and heroes.
Absolutely incredible! I have never seen anything like this before! And may not see anything like this after! Way to go, horse and rider!!! Wow really!!!!!!

These High Jump competitions ceased in Australia in 1949 due to pressure from the RSPCA. From the 30's, they had strict rules of no whips or spurs.
As far as I am aware, the record for those competitions stands at 8'6" (is that 2.69 meters, the 1971 Hooves and Horns article I read has it as such?).
It was performed by a "clumper" type of horse, once known in Australia. Most likely a Suffolk Punch cross gelding named Gold Meade. He was trained in NSW by the King Bros, who trained other 8 foot horses at the time. In 1948 he was ridden by Jack Martin of Kyogle NSW to his win over the 8'6" height in Cairns QLD.
To quote the article: "...He scattered about 5 or the 9 bars, but as the top one was among those left standing he was officially, and correctly, credited with the world record.". "...Cairns took its high jump seriously. The Resident Government Surveyor and his staff carried out the official measuring.".
amazing
What a beautiful pair, to achieve this it takes a partnership of love and trust, congratulations to you both.
this is great until you discover that this horse never jumped again because doing this ruined his legs. What humans do to animals just for fame makes me sick.
As soon as I saw this video I almost cried because of how unnatural and horrible it is to do that to a horse.
RideForLife
Oh my god.
Harry the one riding him wouldn’t hurt him he RETIRED because Harry knew he was old and couldn’t do this anymore plus snowman would have never been able to jump this in the first place to begin with if it hurt his legs (not trying to be mean)
Juan Gamiño This isn't Harry or Snowman.
How amazing I could never see any else doing this! What a wonderful horse
He's looking like he loves it too! Fantastic!
ormonde1111 i see fear not love
Leah Startalon where. I see neither.
Omg this horse. Wow. What an outstanding jumper. Hero!
The record for the equestrian high jump stands at 8ft 1in (2.47m) and was achieved by Captain Alberto Larraguibel Morales riding Huaso ex-Faithful in Chile in 1949. Not this person and their horse.
There were no independent witnesses that day and photographic evidence doesn’t show the take off side so could have been higher than the landing. Seems funny it’s not been bettered or matched since.
WOW I HAVE NEVER SEEB ANY HORSE JUMP THIS HIGHT BEFORE B BRILL ABSLUTY BRILL
That is one sexy walk it does at the end
Oh you done it again youtube. I start with a how to guide and end up watching horses jump stuff. Lol
OMG I THOUGHT THE TITLE SAID 32 METRES AND I ALMSOT LOST ITTTTT
THAT WAS AMAZING, someday i hope i can do that!
🏇🏇🏇🏇😍
Holy friggin crap.
What a HORSE!!!
🌟🌟🌟AMAZING!🌟🌟🌟
(And yes, you can have loooong conversation about the skill of the rider/abuse of the horse. But all that is a background chatter when compared to the fact of how super SPECIAL and BEAUTIFUL this horse is!!!)
Terrible for the horses leg joints nothing to be proud of putting a beautiful animal through this?
That’s not true in this case at all. This horse had zero stress coming off this fence. None. We don’t ask just any horse to do this. They have to have the athletic power, want, strength and confirmation.
You act like we don’t mind seeing our high 6 figure horses suffer or something.
Watch this horse again. Zero hyper flexion on landing. Astonishing horse
But I bet you eat meat....
You’d eat him if you were hungry nuff
Still. That weight on those front legs? He is powerful but it still wears out joints.
@@katie195 saddle horses During the goodnight days only lasted 7 years from hard riding. If I were you I’d go for the back strap first not the front legs.
*Somehow it’s AMAZING to see how high the horse can jump but I still feel sooo freaking bad for the horse it lands pretty bad I think...just think about....but still amazing and cool!*
This is not a world record!
The ACTUAL highest jump was from Alberto Larraguibel Morales and it was 2.47 meters not 2.32
Whoever says that this hurts the horse are wrong I can see where u r coming from but this horse is a jumping horse and is build for this kind of jumps the rider had no intention of hurting his horse and this was a popular showjumping competition so if it would hurt the horse it wouldn’t have been pit in there in the first place
That means this horse can jump over Yao Ming
To those who think this is animal cruelty...observe wild horses on the open range for awhile and you will find they are naturally capable of these extraordinary feats and do so more often than most would imagine.
That can’t be good on the horse’s legs!
Well lucky for him, he doesn’t jump like this at home.
his offspring must cost a fortune! not just his amazing jumping abilities but also his beautiful coat
Horses aren’t made to jump this high, ruins their legs...but hey...making money, so who cares as long as your rich and famous
He's fine, he didn't just jump, he learned how to fly 😟
No I am proving to anyone watching that I can ride in any type
Of spur and it never touches my horse because my equitation is so strong.
Some horses ARE made to jump similar heights
Kon złoto świetnie wykorzystany jego potencjał szanuje się😍
i’m gonna do that some day 😂🤣
Absolutely incredible! I have never seen anything like this before! And may not see anything like this after! Way to go, horse and rider!!! Wow really!!!!!!
wow!
The real record guiness was on 1949 by Alberto Larraguibel and his horse called Huaso, in Chile, It was 2.47 mts tall
That horse was amazing, and oh so beautiful!
