I have nothing against Miss Haiti but I think the judges seriously toyed with the idea of having a first black Miss Universe in 1975 in the person of Miss Haiti but they later realized in the finals that Miss Haiti was just not the right person for the first black Miss Universe winner. I have always believed that Miss Universe is a beauty contest and the winner should first have a reasonably pleasant- looking face above all. However, two years later, in 1977, judges chose the first black Miss Universe in the person of Miss Trinidad-Tobago and I could only agree with that choice. Miss Haiti 2016 was also a possible good choice as a black Miss Universe but she was overshadowed by the charm of the eventual winner Miss France.
