  • macmost.com/e-... If you are thinking about getting an external microphone for your Mac, there are many things to consider. Most people need a bsic USB microphone and those vary in price but are easy to use. You can also connect an analog microphone. For some uses a headset is better.

    Do the USB adaptors affect quality? I got a highly rated although relatively cheap mic Tonor Mic and I was surprised how bad it sounded compared to my built in 2019 MacBook mic. Any suggestions? I thought maybe it was the adaptor the compromised it, but I wasn't sure if this is even a thing. Thank you

    I've been using a Yeti Blue USB mic for a few years now and have been quite happy with it. Besides using it for FaceTime and Zoom, I also do video tutorials with Screenflow and the sound quality is quite good. Not saying it's the best option, but for the money it's pretty decent and flexible.

      Probably a better question for an audio expert. But I would say first get your mic closer to your mouth. Look at the video of when they do radio -- the mic is right there.

    I was hoping something on a small mic that you could attach to a shirt would be covered. Those are good if you are moving around form time to and need to keep your voice always level but don't want to be seen in your video with a USB headphone/mic combination device.

    Thank you, Gary, for an informative video. I just want to clarify something. I have a Logitech analog mic. It has the common jack with no pins (the jack is the same size and type as the one that goes into my iPhone or MacBook earphone port. I tested it on both devices, to be sure). I want to use it with my 2014 Mac Mini. Some of the USB adapters I'm seeing have 2 holes. Should I avoid those and only look at the ones with one hole?

    I have attached my Comics microphone into my MacBook Air and it will show audio in but I can't get it to show up on the input by name, only as an external mike. I also can't get it to work directly with DaVinci Resolve 16. DaVince does not recognize it from the input list. It only shows 2 built-in microphones which when patched in also do not work. What am I doing wrong?

    What USB C microphones is there i can't find any

    • @macmost
      @macmost  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      USB is USB as far as the data is concerned. Most good microphones come with USB-B (a square-ish port) and a cable for USB-B to USB-A (old standard rectangular cable end). You just pick up a USB-B to USB-C cable instead if it doesn't now come with one ($7 at Amazon). Or, if the cable is hard-wired in to the microphone, it may have a USB-A end, but you can get an even cheaper USB-A to USB-C adapter to fit over the end of the cable.

    does using a usb adapter help with heating and fan noises ?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shouldn't make a difference either way. But having a microphone that is not part of the body of the computer, and closer to your mouth, should help with noise during the recording. If it is an omnidirectional mic, though, it will pick up room noises as well as your voice.

    Hi Gary, I'v learned a ton for your video's over the last year or even more! Thanks so much and keep it up! I will say your audio is clear and sound good, let me suggest that your room is 'boomy', and your very sensitive mic picks up the reverberations from your room. You're perfectly clear though Gary. Thanks again!
