I say screw it and just wear the bag! You liked the print enough to buy the bag, so just enjoy! Life is too short to not use the bags we like. 😅 Now that the prices of the book tote have come down I am looking for one to add to my collection and I will be rocking it this fall!
A dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow. You can’t predict where the (second-hand ) market will go or how long it will take to get there. Prices could go up next month or 5 years from now. Personally I’d rather have the money now. I also wouldn’t worry personally about the social implications of a carrying a Dior bag or following the quiet luxury trend. To quote The Good Place, “there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism”. I promise every one of these companies (whether contemporary or luxury or fast fashion) has a scandal. Maybe it is worker rights violations, maybe it is covering up the CEO’s treatment of women, or racial discrimination, etc. You need to think about the allegations surrounding Dior and decide where that falls against your personal priorities and beliefs, and accept that purchasing from any brand likely means compromising at least one of your values. I’m not saying this to make light of the Dior allegations or say we as consumers shouldn’t care. We should care and demand change. But wearing the bag you bought before the allegations came out isn’t condoning what they (might) have done. Some would argue that using the bag anyway and not purchasing a new one is the more ethical route because you are using less resources. 🤷🏼♀️
Just found your channel and absolutely love your mindful consumerism of luxury!!! Would you kindly sharing some of the clothes and bags you decided to let go of and why?
As heartbreaking as it is to realize I’ve made a purchase that doesn’t work for me, I prefer to recoup at least some of my money rather than feeling like I’ve wasted 100% on a purchase that’s sitting unused. For me, the time and frustration that’s involved in reselling bags has prompted me to be WAY more selective about what I’m willing to spend my money on in the first place. But to be fair, I think this is all part of the process of figuring out what works for us and what doesn’t , so overtime we can make better choices.
You still love your bag, although you love the new version better. If it wasn’t for the latest allegations regarding Dior, you could’ve sold your bag at a loss and used the money to buy the new one. Since new purchase from Dior is not what you are going to do, and you love the bag you have, wear it without concern for public opinion. You didn’t know the current allegations when you purchased your bag. I received a large Dior tote two years ago and haven’t worn it once because it’s heavy, open, and white with delicate embroidery. I didn’t sell it because I have never sold a bag and was very apprehensive. Now it probably would sell for pennies on the dollar 😂
If that allegations is what really stopping you from using please don’t. You bought the bag in good faith. Plus I am sure it is not just Dior that are doing those (if they really are) even clothing lines does that so what are we going to do to do? If you still love the bag use it you’re losing money anyway so might as well enjoy it.
I think the youtuber Maggy x Chuu liked the older mini book tote. She mentioned it in a video a few months ago... Maybe you can dm her and see if she would like it? She just bought a d-joy bag, so the scandal does not seem to affect her view of the brand. I never opted for the book tote. I like leather bags!
If you're hesitant to use it due to scandal, seems likely you won't use it much, if at all, even if you keep it, so maybe consider it from point of view the loss you take now might be actually smaller than if you decide to sell later, since maybe now not as many feel that negative yet anout scandal, & this material/light color seems a bit hard to maintain, l'm also biased since l chose to sell some of my bags/watches a few years ago when market prices were better, l just took my losses back then, so that's just my suggestion, saw your other new videos of some of your new bag/watch purchases, maybe think it might be worth it to sell asap, to get funds towards other new purchases?
You're right, that's always one of my key decision factors - is there something I like MORE than this, and if so, using this to "fund" that purchase is one way not to sink "new" money...
Why the huge concern about the Dior Book Tote? Why did you buy it in the first place if you don’t like it? If it is because you are so concerned about what “others” think of you! Then, WOW! How did you have the confidence to get your PhD? Wear what YOU like!!!!! Gosh, my heart aches for your younger generation, it just truly does. Like the earlier poster said, Life is too short!! You will find that out way too soon with all this unnecessary worry weighing on your heart and mind! 🙏
lol, I definitely get where you're coming from! I have so much stuff that I love, but that I never use! To me, this is simply a sign I have too much lol!😅

To be honest, I’d use it even just for grocery shopping 😂 as you said, damned if you do, damned if you don’t. It’s also be a nice closet art 😉
Use it for your students to turn in their homework assignments! And use it to talk about the business of getting and reselling designer handbag.
lol extra credit points to the person who sells it for the highest price!
Came for the book tote consideration video. Got served a tech ring content video. Clicking out. 🤦🏻♀️

I would let it go

You could've exchange it back then. Dior has a 30 days exchange policy.
I thought I was being smart by buying it preloved via Fashionphile, but you're right, I could've still returned it!
