Wow, imagine a cartoon like this done by Bob Clampett in the days when he was at Warner Bros. doing theatricals. This moves almost as fast as one of those, and it reminds me very much of Clampett in his heyday great theatrical career. Well worth bringing the series back to video. Bring it out real soon!

I watched these cartoons as a little kid when they were new. It's amazing how many of the gags went over my head back then. At the age of 55 I now find them even funnier.

There's a lot of satire in those cartoons.

@@lindateuling7862 Rocky & Bullwinkle were similarly satirical.
Didn't know until my mother told me in 1962.
      Example: Bullwinkle was Pelvis Parsley.

Also, this cartoon would be considered racist today and banned by the SJWs

Yes, Billy doubled as "Matty"'s voice AND appeared in the "Dick Tracy" ad in this episode....

Easy to see now where the inspiration for the Ren and Stimpy episode Fire Dogs came from

Aww, Careless is so cute! I remember the animation of him at 4:05 - 4:10 being recycled into the "Dirty Pool" episode, but the soundtrack at 1:47 - 1:52 was heard with it.

Careless must be the cutest Mexican stereotype I've ever seen XD
Actually, as far as mexican stereotypes go, I've seen way worse

Unlike the similiar Spedy Gonzle, Careless gets a suitable, appropriate villian, DJ, rather than Daffy-even with Bugs, Daffy e didn;'t fit in as a bad guy, nor with Speedy GOn zales and even TINY TOONS and SPCE JAM used that take.; Of coursek, though, even then, Speedy was not paired with Daffy (Though Sylvester gets our symnphathy in CHILI WEATHER or MEXICAN CAT DANCE;whichever, but it's the BULLY FOR BUGS (1952) remake.).

Billy was appearing in commercials as well as guest starring in various TV shows at the time..."Dick Tracy" was on TV, in UPA's syndicated TV cartoons- but NOT under Mattel's sponsorship (they had the exclusive rights to market the Tracy toys, though).

"Peeper Frijole"? "Caramba! I'm mucho too young to see such violence..." and the first fireman? Ed Norton comes out of the sewers! (or Yogi gets a real job!) Must see: Spongebob Squarepants' Patrick progenitor: The cowboy stars' cowboy star: Cowboy Starr!

That kid in the Dick Tracy ad looks like he should be old enough to read. I thought this was before the American education system began to suck XD

Any remember a cartoon character named Billy Lagoona? Can't find it anywhere.

I think you may mean Belly Laguna, main villain of the "Funny Company''. Try doing a search of that cartoon.

    • @kevinwollenweber340
      @kevinwollenweber340 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, the character of belly Laguna came from a cartoon called “the funny company“. You can find almost the whole series here on TH-cam. I am amazed they have not put that out on DVD as yet, as part of it was very educational. The cartoon was done by the same people who created “Roger ramjet“. Very interesting series.

ANd Dick tracy had its own "Hisapnic stereotype", "Go Go Gomez". but as I say, no mean Daffy Duck ruin IT as with Speedy Gonzales mid 60s.
