I saw Dimash on April 9th and 16th in Düsseldorf and Prague. The concert version of 2019 might not be his best performance but when you sing for 3 hours mistakes are probably inevitable and human. Seeing Dimash live is totally surreal. It was by far the best 6 hours of my life. It wasn't my last concert with Dimash, I hope to see/hear him again soon. Thank you Dimash!!!!!!! Greetings from Germany
You are right. That was inspiring. I am not a singer but a painter. And I think this kind of dedication to a craft can inspire many different artists, whether they are singers, musicians, painters, writers etc.
Respected Voice Teacher Lady Linor im soOo glad you EXPLAINED and SHOWED Dimash is only HUMAN and not an ALIEN like most people who react to him the 1st time. THIS progression proves he too came from HUMBLE beginnings YES he had the talents but he was never satisfied SETTING the bar as you said and FINDING a pefect song which he would almost use as a MEASUREMENT continously adding more effects, runs, bells and whistles as he improved his Musical education. HUGE RESPECT to his dilgence and hardwork he had a STRONG MENTAL capacity and the aid of his parents to always cheer him on to do better and you can tell it came from WITHIN no amount of push can lead a person to such greatness this is PURE FOCUS and a desire to BETTER HIMSELF every step of the way. We can easily right off/dissrespect someone by just saying "his an alien" "showing off" "born this way" " castration" but we never bother to give the man the respect by reading a Biography or do extra little research and learn he is just a human being like the rest of us. RESPECT !!! As your fan i love you very deeply your grace very greatful for shedding light on this delicate but necessary contraversial issue which to this very day has caused so much confusion and disscomfort. FINALY we can all rest assured IT ALL STARTS with a mindset. You are only as great as your belief in yourself. CHEERS! btw you look as incredible as always red is my favourite colour so i dont need to tell you how much i enjoyed every minute of this XD
So happy to see you again, Linor. To this day Dimash maintains vocal coaching as well as doctors to ensure health. He is also his own worst critique, demanding more from his ability.
His mother recently said that he practices around 3-4h/d close to concerts. Other times might, and probably are less. He spends a lot of time in the studio. She also said he sings while playing sports and lying on his bed etc to get used to singing in different positions.
the 2019, performance, I am reasonably certain, was a tribute performance for his close friend, Denis Ten, who was murdered. It was in London and Dimash looked like he hadn't eaten in a month. He was missing his cues. He appeared completely devastated.
Hi Linor, what you said was not his best performance (which it wasn't) was very emotional as he'd not only sung it as a tribute to famous people who had died before their time, but also to his close friend whom he'd lost long before that show. (The friend's parents were sitting in the audience at them time).
Linor, not only are you the consummate professional singer, but unselfishly offer praise when it is earned by a gifted Dimash whose work ethic transcends the current spectrum. To listeners like myself your review reinforces my perspective that "am I the only one that sees and hears this masterful phenom" or was I just delusional? I always look forward to your reviews simply because your facial expressions are transparent and you carefully find the words to paint the whole picture. You are a joy to listen to. So many need you out there in the audience. Best wishes!
Really good analysis and break down of his performances. The 2019 performance (where you noted it wasn’t his best), you can see the memorial screen behind. Dimash is human! (We often question his humanity when he has the voice of an angel!). He was caught by emotions related to the losses reflected behind him. For both of my parents’ funerals, I chose to provide eulogies rather than play cello. For me, it is easier to control my emotions while speaking than while performing musically. When I play, my emotions are rawer and more sensitive. Musicians are sometimes like that… a performance can be impacted by emotions (I suspect it is worse for vocalists than instrumentalists where vocalists have to worry about lyrics clouding their expression!). Overall, I agree that Dimash just keeps improving! We are so blessed to live in a time where we can witness his ongoing development as a musician.
Thank you Linor. This is a wonderful analysis of his progression. It is amazing how Dimash keeps working to make his sound better and better. I can't imagine where he will end up with this song! Really enjoyable video and thank you for your expertise and observations. :)
Yes,-17 was kind of turningpoint, he finally got message of that song to sing it in his way ,emotionally and also had his singing abilities in good way. And yes he is still getting better.

Yes, Ms. Linor, very interesting look back and toward the future with Dimash. He was sensational even in his early years, yet here you show his dedication to practice and how he (and anyone) can improve. Where will we go with this Wonder of The World, I am enjoying "his" ride...Thank You!
I think possibly (other fans please correct me if I am wrong) that performance that was 'off' was one were he was sick. High fever, sore throat. He went on stage so as not to disappoint his fans. There have been a couple of times this has happened (the London concert was one of them).
You should check his version in Prague concert... The newest one... His voice is juicy. I got the best possible grade in my PhD partially inspired by the progression of SOS. I worked and worked to get even better.
I had no idea he'd been singing this song for 10 years. It has been steadily improving/changing. Great analysis, and it does give cause for encouraging anyone that they can improve.
Really how interesting. Are you in the United States or elswhere? I can see where this would work, I've heard people say that they listen to Dimash to help fall asleep. When I listen to him he relaxes me, though some of his songs make me cry. However I am always stunned and impressed by his talent.
thank you, linor! you are also an inspiration by encouraging people to strive to improve themselves. i remember an old saying that goes: "good, better, best! never let it rest -- till good is better, and better is best!"
Lenore, I enjoyed this so much. I’ve seen all of these performances but you pointing things out was very interesting. If you haven’t heard the full performance of the last version, I think it’s the best he has done. The version from his digital concert is amazing. I don’t think Dimash has any limits. I wasn’t expecting Dimash to get any better then he put out Stranger(New Wave). His bass was lower than we ever heard him sing…getting better. Hearing Ave Maria(New Wave)was hearing his beautiful soprano for the whole song. I was blown away. I don’t think Dimash will ever be satisfied. Dears tend to exaggerate everything about Dimash. He’s gotten taller, his range keeps getting bigger, the number of languages he sing in grows and his practice time just grew from three hours to six(I’ve never actually heard the six hours). And Igor is a multi billionaire. Why people think that has to be mentioned every time they refer to him is beyond me. I’m sure it’s not true and who cares what his wealth is. He a very well know Russian composer. That should be enough. Sorry, I got carried away. Thank you for this video. I look forward to your reactions and comments on more Dimash performances. Bev
Very good video. An example of hard work and continuous evolution. He makes me wanna practice too, but sometimes he makes me wanna give up altogether. 😅 PS. He practices around 3 hours per day, not 6.
Excellent analysis and a great idea to explore Dimash development through the years! I attended the first night of his 2 concerts in Moscow 2019, the one your 2019 clip was from. He aborted Diva Dance that same concert so probably some vocal issue. Still delivered the best version of Sinful Passion so far that night. AND these "errors" prove he sang it live (the conductor of the orchestra said in an interview - it was his first time collaborating with Dimash - that he was so impressed D sang live for the complete concert - and some still don't believe it).
Thanks for sharing the analysis video! Even as a teenager, he's already cool, but Dimarsh, who develops more and more, is quite different. The show seems to go on. Linor 👉 And today outfit and pigtails are pretty 😍 As soon as I saw it, a red t-shirt caught my eye.👀 kk
Such an interesting review of Dimash’s SOS performances over the year; thank you! You can see why he describes this song as his “calling card” .... One thing I’d like to observe, is that is that I think the 2019 performance was during a 2-1/2 hour plus concert, whilst the others were one-offs, mostly in competition - I imagine that must make a difference energy-wise? (For example, in his 2017 ‘Singer’ performances, he was asked to sing one song each week - so he could put his absolute all into one performance - which he did!)
This analysis of the development of one singer in time is an incredible format, interesting, educative and entertaining at the same time. with Dimash you certainly picked the right one to cover. Are there more to come?
Enjoyed this 😊...bless his heart..the first one he looked so unsure and nervous..natural ability was obviously already there..from the 2017 version he suddenly started taking up a bit more space on stage...watching these performances its amazing how 'large' he became on stage and as his confidence grew so did his presence and voice.
As usual Linor, spot on analysis!! Imo, I still think his 2020 digital concert performance of SOS is his best! His lows are just insane along with of course his highs.
Again, thank you for your willingness to be honest and frank. It's why I come back. NO ONE is perfect, and I like this style of video, showing the advancing.
Браво! Отличный анализ эволюции голоса Димаша и его техники исполнения песни S.O.S. Какие красивые оттенки его голоса видны на разных этапах исполнения этой песни и в разное время! Браво! Спасибо!
Thank you Linor - much appreciated - especially seeing Dimash at age 18 and what he sounded like back in 2012 - then at 20 yrs of age in 2014, and so on - improvement is so apparent to what we have today which is so unbelievable.....
not sure it will take so long, this kind of inspriation has already brought some people out that demonstrate closer abilities to Dimash. It's ok, that's a part of the process. He is still and always will be the pioneer of what he does.
Thanks for this interesting review. It was fun. I was specially surprised by his progress from 2012 to 2014. In a way I’m happy that he doesn’t sing SOS that good always. That makes him human. In my opinion is his best performance in the digital show from 2021. Especially the last part.
2015 was at Slaviansk Bazaar Grand Prix and he had in fact been drugged just before he went on stage. Another contestant put something in his water. Despite this the performance was fantastic.
He went from charming to commanding, as top tier performers do. What amazes me is the evolution in nuance, not in technique, but in the passion and emotion he seems to continue to explore as he performs this piece over the years. We've all had the experience of watching a performer sing an earlier "hit" that they now appear to be bored with. This is not that, at all.
Thank you, it was really nice to watch Dimash progress both in developing his vocal range and also as an artist. A year or two ago I saw a video in which Dimash spoke about his practice routine. He said that he normally practices 3 to 5 hours a day unless he is preparing for a performance, then it goes up to 12 to 14 hours per day.
I have seen those interviews and he doesn’t practice his singing more then three hours, but he practice dancing, choreography and other sports to keep fit
It's so interesting to see, and above all hear, how Dimash assembled the various elements of his voice, crafting and honing each of them, until they came together as the vocal edifice we recognise today. Like a master mason, perhaps, hammering and chiseling at stones rough from the quarry and, with the passage of time, gradually exposing the delicate organic forms concealed within them. Dimash's determination and discipline are remarkable enough, but what amazes me even more is that as a teenager, he must have imagined a sound that he had never heard, decided that was his sound, and then set about enabling what he heard in his head to come out of his mouth. It's not like there was a plethora of 7 octave male singers from previous generations for him to emulate. The boldness and ambition of such a singular vision would be way beyond most adolescent boys; very few would embrace the idea of singing in 'female' registers just as they were getting to grips with their emergent masculinity, or have the self-assurance to expose the uncertainties of their learning process to regular public scrutiny, or become obsessed with an obscure song in a foreign language with lyrics that meditate on existential pain and mortality. Whatever Dimash's 17 year old peers were doing, he must have spent a lot of time by himself, in the practice room! Where he was headed, only he can have known. Where were the songs he could use as maps - even SOS was not written with the range he would expand it to. Even for pro-musicians, the very idea of writing such vertiginous vocal lines would have seemed ridiculously improbable, and certainly too experimental for the general public. Of course, Dimash has been fortunate to have parent and teachers who have recognised his talent and supported him to develop it; but none of them could have asked or expected him to end up where he has. Dimash can only have been created by Dimash: he is the apprentice to his own sorcerer, and the doctor to his own mind, body and soul. After less than 30 years on this planet he has achieved something that is very rare: an unique and unprecedented example of human potential, fully realised. It's not that he's run a bit faster than the previous guy, or nudged forward some obscure cutting edge. Out of his own mouth, he's sung in a way that no-one before him had even thought to try, let alone achieve so successfully. It's noticeable too, in the music that best suits the sensitivity of his spirit, that he is an 'old soul', mature beyond his years. This did not happen yesterday, nor even the day before yesterday. Has he been here forever, I wonder, patiently waiting for the rest of humanity to catch up? If he has some ancient wisdom to impart through the vibrations of his voice, then the timing is fortuitous: the world is certainly in need of a still, calm voice right now. Ah! but that's too much expectation; contrary to widespread speculation, he is only human, just like the rest of us, except ... well, he's exceptional. We should learn to appreciate better bythe miracles we already have in this world, not waste ourselves in wishing for more. Dimash can certainly help us with that.
Dimash says he practices 3 hours a day, when he can. He also has a vocal coach, he say the Pavarotti had one until he was 70. Mariah Carey unfortunately has not taken care of her voice and she’s losing it. Dimash tries to take care of his voice but he cannot be still. If you seen videos of Dimash waiting around at airports or waiting for interviews, he’s always either humming, singing to himself, or using his legs to play drums. This is a young man whose mind is absorb in music! 😊
Dimash has said in an interview (Qazaq TV channel) that he practices 3 hours daily, with a vocal coach, and it coach is not available, he will practice on his own. Dimash also said in same interview, that he continues to improve... paraphrasing: Dimash in 10 years from now, will not be the same as now.
Dimash's earlier performances sound to me more like the phrasing and pace of Gregory Lemarchal who was his inspiration for this song. Over time, Dimash made it his own I feel.
You are correct, 3 hours of practice a day and he regularily breaks out in song throughout the day, sometimes it's only a few bars or so at a time. His mind, heart and soul are always occupied with music, in one form or another. Really good to see Linor's reaction and analysis over 10 years of Dimash's progress and dedication and self improvement.
I've read over the last 5 years that on top of 3 hrs per day practice, he walks around at home singing more than he talks, and tries to get to a pool for 1 hour per day to swim underwater and develop and maintain his diaphragm. Then there is sessions with vocal coaches in Kazahstan and China. Practice sessions with the likes of Igor and others for new songs and videos. Then there is his studies for higher qualifications which never seems to stop. Dimash is more than faithful to his destiny, as his full progreesion in life is in that direction that he understood to be in place from as soon as his memory developed, probably in the womb. I would guess that his time involved in music per week is more than anyone elses.
As always Linor a great analysis, I am not sure if other fans have reached out to you but the sub-standard 2019 performance was Dimash singing in tribute to those famous faces that the world had lost and on Jul 19, 2018 - Denis Ten, an Olympic bronze medalist in men's figure skating in 2014, died on Thursday at age 25 after being stabbed in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Denis and Dimash were personal friends and the performance that you are reflecting is from a distance and you find other recorded versions you will see that Dimash in the same performance and a couple more performances is crying when Denis's photograph is presented on the screen.
On stage at the London concert, he was watching a screen showing Denis ice skating (to Dimash's version of SOS). They had met over discussion to put Ten's routine to that song. Mutual respect for a fellow artist. Dimash is a kind, emotional man...watching the skating footage, I think it just hit him, the sadness of such a senseless murder of this young man. But if you have a hunch, by all means, throw it into the rumor mill...
I think in the 2019 version his best friend Dennis Ten (Was a famous ice skater.) was killed not so long ago. They agreed to sing SOS together but it never happened. Dimash had some problems with performing the song SOS for some time. Here a special version of SOS and you can see both of them sing: th-cam.com/video/Qhd-Wk_bjUY/w-d-xo.html PS: His SOS from Uzbekistan 2019 was good.
It would be great if you would analyze the "Stranger" performance by listening to the original New Wave performance first and then the Super Brothers one right after! They are both so good and so different.
Thank you!! Dimash is an inspiration in many ways. Certainly in constantly raising his standards; his dedication to practicing; his humility; his humanity. More Dimash please?
Hello LInor Dear! Just so you know, in 2015 ( at the Slavic Bazaar competition) Dimash's water glass had been drugged by his competition. You might notice he looks sleepy and his vocals are a bit slurred. His team had been trying to wake him up for many hours and they finally roused him minutes before he was supposed to be on stage to perform this version of SOS. And he STILL WON the competition!! :) :) :)
I don't know if you watched him sing Unforgettable day or not but if not check it out coz he hits D8 in a whistle tone! I've never seen any man or a woman do what he did on that particular live performance. Out of this world!
This was extremely inspiring and informative, thank you for sharing! I feel exactly the same, I want to immediately go and practice with a new fervour. I was until now familiar with Dimash's singing capabilities only from around 2020 and onward, and it's so easy to think that he just "is" like this superhuman being. There's of course no doubt that he was born with some qualities that gave him the opportunity to develop his capabilities to this level, but without years of dedicated and high quality training he would not be where he is today. Such a good point that humans have during history always set new bars that at that point in time seemed beyond human capability. Paganini comes to mind immediately. Today, his compositions are still considered very difficult, but there are plenty of violinists who can play them in a very beautiful way. Something else that stands out to me (as a beginner singer) is how he has managed to improve his performance of the same piece of music so impressively. I always find it very difficult to sing the songs I sang for several years ago without falling back to the same, lower level of technique. It's very tough for me to fight against the muscle memory and habit of how I first learned to sing those pieces. But I guess that it is probably something that gets easier the more used you get to it, and the more comfortable you get with your new, improved technique.
2017 was at Bastau half way through a 3 hour long concert on a really massive stage that required a lot of walking and running to cover it all. 2019 in Kremlin Palace his voice was giving him some issues (according to his teacher). Second night was fine
Great idea to compare Dimash's performance to the same song. Yes his deep notes have developed. That is why you must react to "STRANGER ". You will be more impressed.

Thank you - good to know what is catching your eye ;) and totally agree, he was always awesome, and the fact that he keeps climbing is more awesome
2019 he was crying, his best friend died, and itvwas dificulty to him this because He was skates and dance this music
Спасибо большое за потрясающе профессиональный обзор.Димаш Совершенство. С уважением Украина.
I appreciate the work you had done. It must come from admiration, not for business.
I loved most his 2021 version of the Digital Show.
As usual Linor, spot on analysis!! Imo, I still think his 2020 digital concert performance of SOS is his best! His lows are just insane along with of course his highs.
Very good analyse! Crystal clear what you are showing us👍❤
Again, thank you for your willingness to be honest and frank. It's why I come back. NO ONE is perfect, and I like this style of video, showing the advancing.
Thank you Linor - much appreciated - especially seeing Dimash at age 18 and what he sounded like back in 2012 - then at 20 yrs of age in 2014, and so on - improvement is so apparent to what we have today which is so unbelievable.....
Welp, we now have to wait about 100 yrs ish to hear someone do better...insane performance
not sure it will take so long, this kind of inspriation has already brought some people out that demonstrate closer abilities to Dimash.
Surprised you haven't reviewed "Stranger" where Dimash reaches bass.
Hello, that's very accurately and accurately noticed by you 💯👍 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀 Dimash
He practices 3 hours a day with vocal coaches and swims every day a lot under water to increase his breathing control
2015 was at Slaviansk Bazaar Grand Prix and he had in fact been drugged just before he went on stage. Another contestant put something in his water. Despite this the performance was fantastic.
They slipped sleeping pills into my water". Dimash interview ~2015 th-cam.com/video/J_raLwvUn9E/w-d-xo.html
I JUST love you!!!❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️🎼
Linor...I'm a longtime subscriber and follower of you, and this is IMHO this is your best analysis/reaction ever. Thanks so much.
Great. Thanks Linor.
Отличный онализ, госпожа Линор! Большое спасибо!
Pure perfection.
I have always heard that Dimash practices 3 hrs a day, but he sings constantly, just all the time :)
He is always amazing!!!!
En una entrevista Dimash dijo que actualmente practicaba 3 horas
I think Denis and Dimash were a couple.
@@murtheblur what makes you think that?
@@SoneaT hunch
On stage at the London concert, he was watching a screen showing Denis ice skating (to Dimash's version of SOS). They had met over discussion to put Ten's routine to that song. Mutual respect for a fellow artist. Dimash is a kind, emotional man...watching the skating footage, I think it just hit him, the sadness of such a senseless murder of this young man.
But if you have a hunch, by all means, throw it into the rumor mill...
Dimash's secret is discovered)))
Good analysis. Please make more reactions 😃

I think in the 2019 version his best friend Dennis Ten (Was a famous ice skater.) was killed not so long ago. They agreed to sing SOS together but it never happened. Dimash had some problems with performing the song SOS for some time. Here a special version of SOS and you can see both of them sing: th-cam.com/video/Qhd-Wk_bjUY/w-d-xo.html
PS: His SOS from Uzbekistan 2019 was good.
Димашь приятный человек и в жизни.
It would be great if you would analyze the "Stranger" performance by listening to the original New Wave performance first and then the Super Brothers one right after! They are both so good and so different.
Panic! Ah the disco - bohemian rhapsody.. reaction.. thank you very much.
Fortunately, this report does not appear to be true. It's probably just a lie to increase the circulation of the yellow press.
Tall tale if I ever heard one.
Amazing how much he has improved
Loved this, absolutely wonderful.

Great idea to compare Dimash's performance to the same song. Yes his deep notes have developed. That is why you must react to "STRANGER ". You will be more impressed.
