Sometimes people with disabilities aren't able to control the actions they perform, the adults are able to understand this fact. Therefore mimicking someone who you can see has a disability may lead the adults to think that it is an involuntary reaction and mimicking would be disrespectful and rude. Whereas the children aren't able to understand these concepts fully, and are continuing with the game.
Lovely to a point. Children (at that age) imitate; but adults sympathise. The difference is age, and experience, and understanding. Beautiful nevertheless, for all our flaws, at all our ages.
So the point is, those kids think of/treat her as a normal person, whereas the adults were a little uncomfortable? The kids treated her exactly like those previous normal persons, everyone's equal in the kids' eyes.
I think the point is, in the kids' eyes, person with a disability is just another person making a silly face(which i think was actually doing in purpose). So they continued to do eat was instructed to them.. while the adults feel like they are making fun of the person and they feel like they have yo treat the girl witha disabilty differently from everyone else.

This only shows the innocence of the children; It's not a matter of righteousness in any way. The only thing you can see is that they are different from adults (For better or for worse, it's not always black and white). If the last person had been Hitler raising his hand, the result would probably be very similar; A bunch of kids imitating without concerns and a bunch of adults being more cautious about the situation and its implications..
Rachel Kim have you ever talked to mentally disabled people? The worst thing you can do to them is to treat them differently. Children reacting like that because they are innocent. They do not have the prejudiced mind adults have.
i wonder how much adult's self-consciousness (from being recorded) was involved here? i spontaneously imitated the chicky smile with my finger in my nose, but i have no idea how i would react in such context: "educative game with your kid, obviously for behaviour comparison (the wall) and potential broadcasting". in our politically correct world focusing on appearance whether you like it or not, i am not sure even the best intentioned adult would make it...
Thats reality, yet all this self conscious adults celebrate the video, as if they discovered the pure lovely innocence of a child vs the square dead inside horrible discrimination of adults. Every one in the comments would have reacted equally, and if they acted so freely, so purely innocent in a real life situation, (copying some foolish playfull gesture of a down kid for example) they would have been horribly judged by others, filmed and viralized with a facebook group raging against him or reported to authorities.
In private I'd play along with the child, among other people I'd probably not out of fear that someone will see and interpret it as mocking and offensive cause of their disability even though my intention isn't that.
finally, a social experiment that's not flawed, bias, or probably fake kinda, the message isn't that clear, and isn't said anywhere but i'm 99% sure that it's that in the eyes of a child, there is no difference between them and a disabled child
talking about stating the obvious!! Of course kids at that age don't know any better or have enough maturity to recognize a person with disabilities. I liked the part where the dad was checking in on his kid to see if she was making faces. The first mom looked scary as hell when she made that face...LOL!!!
I work as a teacher and I know that prejudice comes from the adult. Fortunately, we are changing and improving for it to end. My name is Jamira. I am from Brazil
I think it's great how the video points out a problem in society that may be true. But anyone who has studied basic sciences in high school knows that only one variable should change at a time in an experiment. The (funny) faces made compared with the very last (sticking finger up your nose) face made is notably different. The video could just as well come to the conclusion that sticking fingers up your nose is socially unacceptable as you age... I'm not against what the video wishes to point out, but there's an obvious error in the planning of the experiment: it's not a controlled one
I think it is very confusing, despite it is clear that you want to make us believe it is another funny natural face, what we should do is to see our differences as normal, just like different ways of communication.
I think the children didn't see a difference... no prejudice... and imitated, just like they had for the previous people. Whereas, the adults were uncomfortable imitating what the disabled girl was doing, most likely because she was disabled. Most likely due to empathy for her. But never-the-less.... the adults did see the disabled person as different, and the children didn't. Interesting.
Beautiful video, yes. But I don't see what is wrong with not imitating a disabled person. In all honesty, I would find it disrespectful if I was handicapped and children would imitate my face. The faces of the adults were puzzled, you could clearly see some wanted to, but didn't out of respect. Not hating at all, just my point of view.
Why did the adults stop? I am so confused with this video. I wouldn't put my finger in my nose whether on camera on not but I would definitely put my finger by my nostril to imitate the little girl. Did people really stop? Why? Why would someone stop because the child is disabled? I'm really confused...
The whole point was, that the disabled girl was also making a funny face. Why was it suddenly wrong to imitate her like they did with all the other people? It's because you suddenly think you are "making fun of them" that is the problem. The children didn't see the difference between the people, and we shouldn't see the difference as well.
I work with disabled people, with kids from 5 to 16 years old to be correct, and believe me: in this way you don't make fun of them, you have fun WITH them! They can feel your emotions and they are so grateful to have someone that makes them laugh!

THANK YOU!!! It made me cry because people see my children differently!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

YES THIS. they just haven't learned and gained experiences along w the knowledge yet.

crying...so beautiful
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. We are all beings living on this planet, we are all able and disable in one way or another.

Excelente!
This video is so awesome, I wish we could always see with the eyes of a child
so much beautiful... awesome.... grateful...
there is no right words!

that s a main point of this video. politically correct world is so fckd up...
In private I'd play along with the child, among other people I'd probably not out of fear that someone will see and interpret it as mocking and offensive cause of their disability even though my intention isn't that.
iriyabran Don't worry about what others think. All you hurt is those of us with disabilities, by failing to treat us like anyone else.

Genial.
A little child has a heart of pure beauty ^‿^ ♡
meraviglioso...
so innocent the mine of a child - simply lovely ...
thank you for this video, the world is still beautiful
Impressionnant! Belle leçon
God bless you! Very Good!
Grazie! Mi è piaciuto molto: semplice e immediato
Merci Noemi.NAMASTE. ♡
That was simple aweome... Kids are so pure
omg gran experimento social.
Chapeau!
Wow. That was eye-opening. Good job!
Partagé ! et bravo !

I am a guy and I cried like a bitch to this.
Muy bueno. Gracias por la traducción en inglés.
hey guys, don't make me cry, i am 40 yrs old
Aazing ty for creating this

Hace pensar mucho.
Muito Bonito! =)

ALUCINANTE
No pity, no shame, no difference!
On devrait tous rester gosse.
COOL!! :D
Para ellos no hay diferencia...
Buenisimo :)
It means, that those children naturally expsoed to diversity, act naturally.
I think it is very confusing, despite it is clear that you want to make us believe it is another funny natural face, what we should do is to see our differences as normal, just like different ways of communication.

SONG NAME?
Anyone will mimic the child with disability if nobody is watching.
So does anyone know how do we teach our kids
when our and thoughts have been already "polluted" !?
change ourselves first !?
Beautiful video, yes.

Mmmmmmm. Bendita mirada...
It will be that way, because children have no education and they are ignorant.
Parents have obligation to educate them.
I dont understand..what's the meaning of this video?helppp
F A B U L O S O
Why did the adults stop? I am so confused with this video. I wouldn't put my finger in my nose whether on camera on not but I would definitely put my finger by my nostril to imitate the little girl.
God damn it , children , they see no difference
what is the music?
even their children down are cute xd
I don't understand
This video is only missing a polar bear as control
shit, that was.. sad :'(
so basically we're allowed to make fun of disabled people, as long as we're acting like a little kid? Correct?
The whole point was, that the disabled girl was also making a funny face. Why was it suddenly wrong to imitate her like they did with all the other people? It's because you suddenly think you are "making fun of them" that is the problem. The children didn't see the difference between the people, and we shouldn't see the difference as well.
As you don't get it: the point is that children dont see a difference , between you and normal people...
dude i was making a joke... take a chill pill
i know what was the point of this video
chillax
Just helped a fella with his dictation. Nothing mor.

this doesn't happen in real life..children recognize a child with disabilities and usually laugh at it!!
