    I drove down from Fort Collins and talked to Luke and saw the Moonlander in person a few weeks back. I’m paying off a few things, but once those debts are settled, I’ll be putting down a deposit on a Moonlander for my Frontier!

    Great Video Guys!! Did you see any campers built for the Tacoma that you liked as much or better than the Super Pacific? Did you enjoy Overland Expo Mtn West better than Flagstaff?

      Hey Steve. We really liked the Oru Designs hard wall panel camper. It looked great on the Tacoma. Each one had some great design elements. We enjoyed our experience at Mtn. West, it was nice to see some local vendors that we didn’t get at Flagstaff. Plus getting to explore Colorado was epic! Working on that video..stay tuned.

    They all look great, but can they really keep dust out? From what I have heard, the truck bed itself is not really dust proof - lots of small holes or the seal to the tailgate makes dust come through, or maybe it's because it is flexing a lot.

    • @OpenRoad4Two
      @OpenRoad4Two  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They actually do a good job, but you are correct there are lots of small holes where the dust does make it’s way in. We have a video where we show how we helped prevent dust intrusion… th-cam.com/video/CdhrXhNlADo/w-d-xo.html

      When looking at their engineering and manufacturing, compared to other wedge style canopy campers, we do believe they can justify the added cost of the Super Pacific. However, we believe these are all good choices, comes down to personal preferences and budget.

      @@OpenRoad4Two The only complaint I have with the SP on my Gladiator is closing it with the supplied mattress. The side rails actually bow front to rear trying to compress the mattress enough to latch it. Disturbing. I have yet to try to draw out the air with the electric pump beyond what comes out naturally.

    All of these are so overpriced. You can get a pull-behind camper with a queen size bed, kitchen area, bathroom, and storage for $30K. To pay half that price for what amounts to an aluminum topper with a tent on top is ridiculous. None of these should cost more than $5K. The entire overland industry has become a giant grift.

    • @OpenRoad4Two
      @OpenRoad4Two  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree. Inflation has hit every industry, especially over landing. Trailers are a great option for some, but not all. We prefer being more nimble on tight trails.

    • @Toglander
      @Toglander ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OpenRoad4Two - This isn’t about inflation, it’s purely about greed. They aren’t charging these prices because anything less would cause them to lose money. They are charging these prices simply because they are greedy and know that the popularity of the industry will convince people to overspend. The fact is, they could charge 1/2 the price and still turn a healthy profit. The only way this will change is if people stop paying these out-of-control prices.

      @@Toglander What do you think the raw goods cost is for any one of these campers? How many man hours to manufacture and assemble in the US? How much should we pay the staff? What about R&D? Equipment costs?
      Can you share with us, the uninformed, how many other hand built US based industries are currently hitting >50% profit margins? (especially considering that 10% would be considered average, 20% would be considered very good)

    • @justsmy5677
      @justsmy5677 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Toglander - how many pull-behind campers with a kitchen, bathroom and queen size bed, can go off road places a Gladiator or Tacoma can go? Have you ever turned a truck pulling a camper around on a trail so you could use the winch, etc? How much engineering and tech goes into keeping a wedge camper light enough so your trucks weight and center of gravity are acceptable to off road?
