I often jam with Drumby, spending hours trying to perfect some groovy licks. This time, we decided to have fun with Green Hill Zone. I figured I might record our session, to have some foundations to create a cool arrangement.
So there you go, the drums and bass were recorded live, all the other stuff, I added later. I really like this concept because it's so much more lively and rawer than my usual programmed drums mixes. Hope you'll enjoy this as much as we did making it.

Man this was chill as fuck.
I was expecting some soft music and then it to go at max volume but this was actually very soothing,it's just something I could listen to for a few hours to calm down and relax
Je suis en saison sur l'île de Porquerolles dans le sud. Je suis au bord de la plage avec un pack de bières, un joiny et juste le bruit des vagues et des mouettes. Et cette musique. C'est juste parfait.
Definitely enjoyed having Drumby in this one.

Ce genre d'exercice est rarement réussi... mais vous avez su rendre hommage à la composition originale. Arrangé et interprété avec le meilleur goût. Bravo !

I totally understand moments that happen like at 1:09. That beautiful moment when you're totally in sync with the musician you're jamming with! This arrangement is such a fresh take on this song. I really hope you're writing music for video games irl Songe because you sure have the chops to do it!

I'm sorry man but who influences you? Like who do you listen to to inspire you to play the way you do? I'm dying to know. You don't get chops like yours primarily from video game music

Actually, I asked him to play softly. We're recording in my living room, and not getting the cops called in is kind of crucial for our little sessions. Aside from that, I love soft drum playing. I think that unless you're playing rock or metal, you should play the drums at a volume that doesn't require you to wear ear protection. That's just my opinion, though.

Songe Yeah, I know, I heavily agree, but his body language shows that it's just a bit below what is his most natural way of playing and it's very apparent and relatable to me, as I am a drummer myself :D
I do also play bass and though it matches the groove here, I haven't seen you not play mainly with your thumb, which worries me a bit. It's similiar, but not acoustic, you know :\
Ifrit_Smash Lol, try black metal with freeflowing cymbals (just thrown onto the stand without any adjustments, caps or anything else to hold them). After 3 hours I was afraid for my ears. Even the ride has so much painful sustain that way...
hahaha lol ya i try to keep the caps on relatively tightly as to preserve my ear drums but to still get that true "Rock" feeling

I just found this on Tumblr and it's absolutely amazing, I love how you look at each other and trust each other. Hope some day found a music partner like that e.e and jam videogame songs.

Wow. Your uploads have been very exciting lately. Dragon Roost Island was amazing and now this. Does it have absolutely nothing to do with the fact I told you I'd like to see you do Green Hill Zone again? I think Liquid Tension Experiment did something similar (It's called "Chris and Kevin's Excellent Adventure") but they had a jam with nothing particular in mind and just edited effects afterwards. I think you managed to create a really good foundation for the arrangement which is pretty amazing. It's almost as if you're improvising alongside the other instruments.

Boxcow45 Ear. I do my own arrangements, so it's not like you could find tabs or scores of what I'm playing. ;)
