    Excellent video, Pete! I'd even call it, "Exceptionable!" Thanks for digging so deep into the pedal - you always find awesome ways to use gear. Love the gradually increasing wet mix at the end of the song!

    This is a super old video, but can I just say thank you for actually demonstrating how presets work. I’ve scoured videos and you seem to be the only person actually showing how to activate presets. I had ZERO idea about there being a separate preset mode with the red LED. Even more excited for this to arrive now. Gorgeous sounds by the way - again, the best I’ve heard from any demo.

    Just had my True Spring arrive - and couldn't agree more Pete, it really has the boing without being cheesy, realistic! it has the "drip".
    That tank setting is something special, and you can get very pretty, ethereal sounds with the mix dimed.

    Certainly a quality effect in pedal form. The ability to interface via a pc/ipad is a plus. I'm curious as to how you think this stacks up against the Strymon Flint as to the quality and type of reverb and tremolo.

    This sounds reeeeeeeally good. I've NEVER heard an actual spring tank sound this good, and so I normally hated spring verbs. I was never a surf guy, and they always sounded noisey to me in a bad way. This thing sounds so smooth, but has a texture because of the springyness. I dig it! Great demo, Pete! I would love to compare this to my Flint! I've only today started experimenting with its spring mode.

      i demoed and subsequently bought a True Spring and my Flint is going on eBay as soon as it arrives. The Flint has served me well and I may miss the washy 80s verb settings (although my HX Stomp kinda covers that), but the True Spring is in another league for the spring sounds.

  • @tommc49
    @tommc49 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Both the reverb and the trem are very good but the ergonomics don't work for me. Having to hit that button on top to get the trem on mid-song for part of the song is not feasible. I suppose you could have two presets, one with trem, one without, but then you have hit the toggle switch mid-song. Also using the same knobs to adjust both effects seems limiting to me. Sounds great, but I'll be sticking with my Flint for the more accessible controls. Wonderful playing as always.

    • @jtn191
      @jtn191 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could just turn trem depth all the way down and crank it up as needed. I wish they had printed the trem modes in a different color on the switch/controls

    • @rkharper
      @rkharper 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There is an additional switch from Source Audio, where you can have either tremolo on off, or trem tap tempo. You also can choose to have 2 of the 4 buttons only for tremolo. Ask me, why I know that. (I own it, with the additional switch)

    • @tommc49
      @tommc49 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rkharper I watched the Source Audio vid on all the hidden features of this pedal. It is very impressive and I'm sure there are people who will use the full functionality. Me, I'm old and simple; I like my knobs and switches properly labelled and accessible without press and hold, an external switch and using an app. I'll stick with the Flint.

    • @TheBenb1999
      @TheBenb1999 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same here. The EHX Oceans 11 does the same thing. Having one knob do multiple things is very confusing in practice.

    • @rkharper
      @rkharper 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tommc49 no problem for me. I'm not an advocate for Source Audio. In fact, i had it on my bass board, where for years an Boss FRV-1 was in place. It is okay, but not overwhelming, so I got me a Surfybear DIY Kit, nothing beats the real thing.

  • @jtn191

  • @navinadv
    @navinadv 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    How does this compare with the Ventris? The Ventris has a few more options and can do dual reverbs. Thing is everything you touch seems to produce good sounds. I was torn between the HX effects and the Headrush Gigboard and now wondering if I should dump the multi-effects route and get separate modulation, reverb and delay pedals.

    @guitarolm 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    also, as a color-blind person, i really wish pedal manufacturers would stop using green/red in the same bulb to differentiate multiple modes of operation (preset vs manual for this pedal). blue + red or something would be much easier for us to see!

      Well look at it this way. The nice thing about it is that you can just plug it in and get a great sound by turning the simple controls. But if you want to get deep, you can hook it up to your computer and the options are there. Nothing saying you ever need to do that.
