I’ve been using Edison for my samples, almost exclusively for years. That being said, I am today years old learning how to do what you just displayed. Salutes!
Best instructor for sure my guy. I don’t pay for master classes but I would definitely pay for yours not gonna lie. The simplicity and straight to the freaking point is beautiful
Thanks phamily I appreciate this. I do have plans on making in depth courses just not sure how to go about it and not sure if there is much interest yet. 🤔
@@JayPhatty Probably probably not but let me tell you when I made the leap to start selling cakes out my house I had the same question and while I don’t make what I want I still have a website and I still sling cards whenever I can. @HeyThatsMe3 I appreciate the kind words. That's very interesting, I hear you fs, a lot of today's lyrics are just not it. Thanks phor the encouragement, I definitely want to get it out. Just have to make time and make sure it's adequate. I also do 1 on 1 sessions in FL Studio via Discord, so I can share my screen. So if that's something you would be interested in, we could talk more via email. My email is jayphattyoriginal@gmail.com or you can hit me up on Instagram. I'm jayphattyoriginal over there.
@@JayPhatty I heard you on the planning definitely. Oh yeah after the new year I’m on it! Right now I’m working every day and got kids 😂 plus cakes you know lol. Thanks man will talk soon FS! Keep it up my guy!
I only work with samples in Edison and Fruity Slicer, I hate dealing with samples directly in the playlist. Idk how people do it. I find my chops in Edison and then chop / manipulate them in the sampler channel and / or Fruity Slicer. I don’t even touch the playlist until I have most of my elements for the beat and I’m ready to arrange 😂
Hey, by the way. When you compose, do you put everything in one channel rack or do you split the channel rack per instrument type? Or do you use a separate channel rack for every single instrument in the session?
It depends. A lot of times tho I'm keeping my main drums in one channel and splitting the melodic elements to individual channels. But if you have everything split, then its easier to make evolution changes, like taking bits of the drums in and out as well as the melodic elements to help evolve the beat so its not stagnant.
Do you know how to save a chopped part of a sample as a WAV in a specific key? I chopped this part of a sound I recorded and I realized it sounded better when I pressed the G4, which made it slower and lower, but apparently it is always saved in the root C4 as the normal speed and frequency of the recorded sound. Idk if I was too confusing I might rephrase that if noone gets what I'm trying to say
This sample I used is phrom The Vault Sounds! Check the pinned comment on this video or go to my channel and click the link there and tap "The Vault Sounds". You can browse their site and check out their sounds. If you like what you hear, you can use the promo code "JAYPHATTY" to get 20% off! They got some Hella cheap packs rn! Lmk if you got any questions pham!
does it apply to the notes in whatever pattern you are in? in other words should we make a new pattern for this before to arrange and play back the chops?
it doesn't record it into a pattern, you would have to record it into the playlist as an audio clip, by arming the track edison is on. You could use SliceX which has a lot of the edison pheatures in it and more, you would pull that up in the channel rack, and that would allow you do mess with it in the pattern.
there is a cursor button in edison, when you have something highlighted in edison, you can click the cursor button and drag your selection into the playlist of FL.
@@JayPhatty yeah I get it. Slice and slicex are just way better imho that’s why I’m asking. I’m cool with different workflows tho 👍🏻 i usually chop up drums from vinyl in Edison tho, and then I route each drum to its own channel

Same here. I always just chop my samples in Edison and then drag them out. Never knew I can use it like this.

Shut. The. Front. Door!!!!! Thank you, Jay!
How do you record this into playlist?
Best tutorial. quick and simple. Thank you!!!
I love this portion of FL’s workflow.
this is actually so helpful thank you so much
Man that’s a great way of doing it, i think i would prefer this way to fruity slicer etc
Does this work the same way for logic/garageband?

You are gem bro
goated tutorial
Dope!!!👏🏾
Thanks pham!
Thank you. I’m I hoping for a drag and drop autochop feature in Edison and FPC, on the next FL update.
Auto chop is in fruity slicer
@@lazyie thank you.

How do you record it if the sample is pulled up in the master??

😮😮😮😮😮
But How can you record out of Edison into midi or Audio file?
there is a cursor button in edison, when you have something highlighted in edison, you can click the cursor button and drag your selection into the playlist of FL.
Why would I do that when I can just use slicex which does the same exact thing
personal preference pham, some people prefer edison
Bro I love you I LOVE YOU
P.s. Bro, how am I supposed to put a loop of these fake pieces in one loop?
Woah that's tight
way better than fruity slicer
😮 🙏🏾
I mean sure. But why would you do this instead of slice / slicex / serato
personal preference! and some people don't have serato! searato is def my go to, but theres many different ways to sample that work well
@@JayPhatty yeah I get it. Slice and slicex are just way better imho that’s why I’m asking. I’m cool with different workflows tho 👍🏻 i usually chop up drums from vinyl in Edison tho, and then I route each drum to its own channel
Holy Shit
i dont think there's actually a way to record this easily directly out of edison though
