Ikolo mmuo means 'Gong of the Spirit'....like the physical gong, ikolo mmuo calls the Igbo spirit and pulls the Igbo heart back home ! Odinala is the homebase of the Igbo mind. Ikolo mmuo is the beacon shining the guiding light to the Igbo consciousness with teachings of deep truths and broad knowledge. Time and time again, Ikolo mmuo provokes the igbo mind to think, to act, to change and to conquer ! Ikolo mmuo provides a 'mind map' for the journey back home. Ikolo mmuo is an rythnm of igboness. Its a drum that beats to make us dance to the proud music of our past and a melody to help us dream and build a greater future ! Ikolo mmuo is a gift from our ancestors of a man so young with a heart so sharp and a mind so deep. He is a treasure ! His light is truth... His power is love ! Ikolo, nwa Nnewi, Daalu...Deeme...Deeje ! Ndewo !!!

I sometimes wonder if our ancestors were less ambitious explorers because of our environment. If you're born almost anywhere in West Africa, you've most likely hit the environmental jackpot. Warm weather, year round sunlight, no harsh winters, fertile and mineral rich soil, minimal occurrence of natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes, etc. Why would anyone want to leave all that? A friend once joked that after he'd experienced one winter in Manchester, he understood why the British had to leave their shores and conquer the world. Just a thought 🤔

Perhaps there may be a sense in that. Necessity they say is the mother of invention. However, we should not lose sight of the fact that what is ones strength can serve as their undoing.
Leaving our father's, what's our own excuse for not still being researchers, explorers and organised adventurers?
