What a totally enjoyable adventure into the Hills! I was fascinated throughout! I hope your work will cause a huge RESURGENCE of the use of folk medicine for healing, there is such a great NEED for this knowledge, you are the 'Flame Keeper' and the teacher through your work. My whole life I have DREAMED of working with a true folk healer from the Hills. Today you made my dream come TRUE! I'm so grateful!
I grew up in Carter and Ripley County, Missouri...I'm an old man..it's surprising the things I've absorbed from the older people around me. We had a folk healer near us, and she was instrumental in helping me get over a bad lung infection I had.
Its still practiced here in Central Alabama..Was passed down from my Grandmother she was givin the gift from her Father who got it from his Grandmother ..
I've been thinkking about picking up Westons book for a minute. Im not into magic, but love ozark traditions and history. I will def be buying his book. Very interesting
*"Signs, Curses, and Witchery", the title of a video here on TH-cam* with interviews of several Appalachians, that I would suggest for those interested. The point subjects mentioned here are addressed and demonstrate a synchronicity with this presentation. The "Universal Law of Attraction" in its thorough understanding, helps one understand the How's. If you have a Q on the "Law of Attraction", just ask via reply. It is a subject I've studied thoroughly, continue to study, and practice.
I think I may have seen this book at a store in Hot Springs on my 1 year anniversary October 27th. Last month, I was thinking about buying it but Kinda scared me, if it is the one with left hand magic (Lefty BTW hate left hand is always associated with evil, my uncle who ended up murdered was forced to learn right handed) but... I also felt this book might be important to recognize the ones out to get you. For example, my kids said my ex husband bragged about collecting cemetery dirt for his mom's garden... Sure... Right?? My daughter and I both quite tempted to get this book. You hear a lot about Appalachian folklore but not much on Ozarks.
Please fix videos audio. You having an interesting presentation that needs to shortened a bit.I think you are in error saying Vance Randolph is now irrelevant. I look forward to reading your book. Thanks.
Can you look up Joseph Smith and his family and his use of folk magic and his symbols on the temples and use of astrology also how that might tie into the great awakening in the 1700 to 1800 and charismatic christians.dontueyball have something to do with folk influence?
I don't know anybody in my surroundings that practices for killing I feel a calling to to it I feel that maybe my ancestors did it but they didn't pass it on to me I'm just learning bits and pieces out of it I mostly treat myself because the doctor doesn't know what's wrong with me half the time and they don't take time to listen I've been self-medicating for a long time
Pennsylvania Dutch are actually German, the word for German was mispronounced and then misinterpreted. Just want to point out and clarify: the Appalachian Peoples in Tennessee and Kentucky have a large % of Irish, and then there's Scotts-Irish, which are a seperate group, and they have some different DNA. Many were in Northern Ireland and then Scotland, and they were affected by the British (Anglo Saxen aka Germanics) that were moving in to Northern Ireland as encouraged by the King of England, in an effort to get the land they were on in Britain, to put pressure on the Irish, and force Protestantism into Ireland. The Irish People suffered serious oppression and abuse from the Monarchy of Britain for 9ver 400 years. This 8snt a subject I desire to focus on, but the fact of History need not be faded, as it has a value for History remaining accurate, History 8s easily faded, even removed by the Rulers and those in Power t9 serve their agenda to protect their position and to grow their Paradigm Story to continue to hold Power over the Mass Public. While I'm on the subject, I will give an example: The Dark Ages, labeled that due to "Missing Information", and through DNA/Genetics Studies we now know that the British DNA demonstrates a nearly 99% absence in original English Male/Paternal DNA, the Female/Maternal continued and was affected by (Angles, Saxon, Jutes, Normans, and the Vikings: all Germanics). The appx 1.38% remaining original Male DNA demonstrates the *"Male Adults, Children, and Babies" was removed, whether by extermination, removed to another place, or sold into slavery.* Here's where the story stalls and just gets lightly dusted over by Academics with no obvious efforts to determine what happened. The early Peoples of what's now Britain/England, Wales, and Ireland shared similar orgins, that evolved 9ver time depending on their location, as 9ne would expect. The Irish and Welsh share their original DNA lineage (post flood era) being that of Basque, many Rh(-) as expected. There is something in History that has not been revealed around this subject and I plan t9 pursue Research on the Subject. It needs to be answered. I suspect it was removed to protect the Monarchy's image and a likely very undesirable act upon the original English. This would further answer why the era appears Dark, low 9n Info in Records. ... and the Germanic and English are anal record keepers, thus further reason to suspect there was an intentional removal, burning of books/records. Just an informative share that demonstrates the important value of maintaining and correcting History as facts avail themselves.
This reminds me so much of the tribe that was wiped out that was know as white Indians. They were not like the Indians and not like the Europeans. Check them out very little info on them around!!
Yes those blond blue eyed Indians were thought to have been the lost Roanoke settlers. They inter married with native American. They have integrated olds English into their language.
@@lizjohnson6763 It is not an uncommon thing; most people on earth believe. it is just a damn shame that they would rather indoctrinate their children than educate them. Sharia law is just an example of Christian law if we allow ourselves to be ruled by religion.
That's SO true. The old saying of "it's all in your head" has a negative connotation. Your brain IS in charge of the system. It's not negative... It's the truth. Faith healing works.

You do make a very valid and good point.
How’s that related to Ozark history? The only significant things about Mormon’s in southwest Missouri is it was made legal to exterminate them
@@s198203 I never said anything about Mormons I was talking about Joseph Smith and folk magic and his family line how it is tied to the Ozark people

You need to give more information than that.

The Bible says not to practice magic nor witch craft those are not good magic comes from god
God created the land, and the magic in the land. So a person using the magic God put in the land FOR them to use would be good.
