The host gets it wrong.
Johnny’s problem isn’t that he’s ‘isolated and stuck on a farm’.
Farming is his living and what he knows about. Johnny’s problem is emotional illiteracy and not knowing how to love. At the end of the film he is still on an isolated farm. He’s just with someone who wants to be there too and to be with him.

I viewed both films, God's Own Country and Call Me By Your Name, and I believe GOC is a better film in terms of narrative, relatability, stark naturalness of the landscape, direction, and yes, even acting by the all the characters. It's disappointing that GOC has not received the same level of recognition as CMBYN has.
true shame. maybe because CMBYN had star power with american Armie hammer whos been in so many big films so that helped with marketing and what not. also maybe because GOC is very similar to Brokeback mountain? almost identical except happy ending? idc. loved them both but youre right, GOC is slightly superior and should have gotten more recognition. atleast its an instant classic

I have to agree with you. I enjoyed CMBYN, but the scene transitions were choppy and I’m not sure how it would have translated to me had I not first read the book. GOC blew me away, it was so realistic. Amazing acting.

He was phenomenal in this movie. he brought so much emotion into the character of johnny, almost every shot of him moved me to tears. He's really talented and I'm really excited to see what's next for him!

One of my favorite lgbt themed films.
The philosophy of God’s own country is real. Unfortunately, in life, partners often lose each other because they are afraid to fight for love after their mistakes. Usually the one who made a mistake decides to correct the mistake only after a few years, when the partner lives already in a new way and has obligations to other people. Johnny is impulsive but clever and decisive, so he takes a step towards George when it was not too late. This applies not only LGBT love, but also to traditional love.
He's charming.

I find the fact that he doesn’t think (or doesn’t seem to think) of himself as beautiful/good-looking very endearing. Personally, I think he’s cuter than Eddie Redmayne. I absolutely love the personality of both of these guys though!

This is one of the most beautiful queer movies out there. I'm so tired of gay films either ending in tragedy or ambiguity. God's Own Country evokes a gambit of simple. raw emotions, before reaching a very heartfelt and gratifying conclusion. Plus these guys share oodles of chemistry. Call Me By Your Name is beautifully shot but as far as an emotional pay off, it pales compared to God's Own Country.
