I like the song and think it's growing on me, but I was surprised to see JR heading back in a more straightforward hyperpop direction after their last two records, both of which I've been streaming almost nonstop lately. so I think I was just expecting this to be less electronic and more grungy/rocky. that being said, some of the grunginess is still there, especially with the vocal background screams that have atp become a JR staple. interested in seeing how the new project turns out
@@matthumphries I wouldn't even call this a "straightforward hyperpop" direction. this song is more rage/grunge/industrial. any of those three is a more fitting descriptor than hyperpop tbh. I would place this song in the same category as gold or trauma by 2hollis.
