Nial - incredible. A sky like that almost has a spiritual feel. I think if I was seeing that in the natural world, I might weep. How genius to use the background color as the clouds. I love yellow toned clouds but can never get the effect I'm after.
Hi Nial, I have just come across your work........I can't stress enough how much you have made my heart sing. For a while now I have had a love of these colours and to see you make them come alive has given me such joy. Thank you so much for showing us your process.
Just found your channel and was drawn into the painting. That said let’s just take another moment to look at the painting to your right in the background. That sky in the painting is very much in the style of JMW Turner. Now I need to watch all your videos. Thanks.
Thanks Dawn. Hopefully this gives you a little more insight to the method of painting I use. Next steps will be filmed and uploaded as soon as possible. Nial
Hi Nial, this dramatic painting inspired me to try tonalism again - i had never tried a strong key colour as a background which i will certainly always do now, thank you, Norrie
Hello you just popped up on my feed. Thank you for posting. What a wonderful artist you are , I got quite emotional watching this wondrous sky emerge. You seem so relaxed while still intense and focused. Look forward to seeing more of your work, thanks again. All the best from Vancouver Island Canada.
Thanks Carolyn! So glad you enjoy the short clips. Do watch the short documentary ‘Journey of an Artist’ on my channel. I think you might enjoy it too. And warm greetings from a cold wet Spring in Norfolk, England! N
Thanks Kim and welcome. I’m going to be posting a lot more frequently from the New Year. I’ve had a lot of new subscribers recently. Can I ask, how did you find my video? Thanks. Nial
Looking fantastic so far. Love the warmth, with the lighter tones starting to shine through. Has that deep; rich saturation that Oil is known for. Curious to see where this goes. -Best of luck on your art and your channel, and much support from one artist to another. Liked and subbed.
@@NialAdams I will have to try and do something like this. I like how moody it is and I prefer colour to shape and form anyway. Possibly because I am unable to draw a straight line LOL.
Très belle toile, moi même je suis entrain de peindre 1 coucher de soleil, mai je n'arrive pas à faire les vagues, que me conseillez vous, quelle couleur faut t'il mettre, merci à vous 🎨🎨🎨🤔🤔🤔
I love your painting! There is so much depth and warmth in your pictures! I have one question: did you use liquin + linseed oil as the medium for this picture? Thanks so much!!
Not a silly question at all… it’s fully dry. Use a medium like Liquin and thin your paint down. Apply the ground and leave it to fully dry. I often prep several canvases at once.
Dang what a shame I kinda get to that stage, well sort of but would have loved to see what you do next to improve my feeble attempts of painting something similar.
It’s touching and very moving to witness such a birth… 💛
Great Video which I can watch again and again. My 2-year-old-son loves it too!

I’ve been searching for part 2 😮… I’ve just found out that you didn’t film it 😊
❤❤❤
Hi Nial. Loving this - did you ever record a Part 2?
Nope, would you believe that I finished the painting and forgot to film it. Now it’s sold!
It is awesome! Where is part two?

Quais as cores utilizadas por favor? Belíssima pintura 🎨 parabéns 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow, Excellent.Love from India
Thanks Annie! Love from England
I love your painting! There is so much depth and warmth in your pictures!
I have one question: did you use liquin + linseed oil as the medium for this picture? Thanks so much!!
Thanks and yes. I only begin adding oil in the later stages
Let's talk about that Turner-looking painting on your right. Did you do that as well?
Haha, yes and well spotted Jeff. That is actually a print of a larger original I painted a few years ago.
Yes that was the first thing which came to my mind… very Turner-esque & gosh!
thanks for sharing
What is on your cloth when you’re “releasing the light”?
Silly question maybe? Is the yellow ochre ground wet or dry when you started this video?
Not a silly question at all… it’s fully dry. Use a medium like Liquin and thin your paint down. Apply the ground and leave it to fully dry. I often prep several canvases at once.
@@NialAdams Thanks Nial. Meant to say that I love your work. Looking forward to catching up with all of your videos now.
Hi. What kind of color take the studio
Do you tint with oil or acrylic?
Only with Oil. I use a medium, plus refined linseed oil.
I can't quite hear the last paint mention on your pallet ? sorry
Nice, but where is Part 2 ?
Thanks Bill. Unfortunately I finished the piece without filming the next steps. As a working artist (not a TH-camr) I try my best! 😉
What happened to part 2 ?
Well sadly, I didn’t get around to filming the next pass and then the piece was sold.
Dang what a shame I kinda get to that stage, well sort of but would have loved to see what you do next to improve my feeble attempts of painting something similar.
