I just finished both games via emulator. My only regret at this point was not playing them sooner, not helped by the fact I never owned a PS1 as a kid.

@@joethealternativegamer3935 Yup. I'd say they aged remarkably well for games of their time. I'd say about as good as Half-Life 1 and Opposing Force. The only thing that didn't age well was the graphics, but that's more than made up for by the detailed animations, sound design, and weapons looking accurate for the time.

I loved Underground but it's a very frustrating game to beat, sometimes performance can be quite chuggy. Frustrating isn't a bad thing, but with retrospect you can tell it's right at the limits of what the engine can handle. But it was breathtaking to play back in the day, and it's nice to see it appreciated and recognised as the awesome title it still is.

    Re-played both last summer (2022), i had a blast.
They will appear rough around the edges for todays standard, but if you are insightful enough to understand the context behind their development, they truly feel like masterpieces, atmosphere, gameplay and design alike. It was the beginning of a great franchise, that sadly ended up butchered.

Underground is still my favorite game in the franchise. It was actually the first I owned but I beat the first game during sleepovers with some of my cousins. I jumped straight from the SNES to the PS2 andthought about getting Frontline first but I have a soft spot for stories about rebellions and resistance movements so I decided toget Underground first.

I would love to see every Medal of Honor game remastered on the PS5 from the original to Airborne which was the last MOH game set in WWII back in 2007 after that they shifted the series to more modern warfare which sadly killed off the franchise in 2012 thus leaving Call of Duty and Battlefield the 2 FPS giants taking over from there today.

Grew up with this series. first one was Frontline. eventually played most of the games except for the mobile games, 2010, warfighter, and the VR game.
back in 2011, I got the 8 disc limited Soundtrack collection that included tracks from 1999 all the way to the 2010 game. loved the soundtrack by Michael Giacchino (incredibles, Up, Star trek 2009), Christopher lennertz, and Ramin Djawadi (game of thrones, pacific rim)

A excellent job putting this behind the scenes segment together Joe, well done & fascinating!
I own both of these games in my Playstation One library but my entry into this great franchise was "MOH Frontline" on the PS2. I own all the console ports for each generation & especially love the last two entries, "2010" & "MOH Warfighter", both receiving lackluster reviews because of politics from my perspective which tragically killed the series.

Thank you! Yea I still need to cover the modern reboot ones! I’ve only played the first one and I liked it! I do think they should have tackled something other than modern to not be compared to cod at the time

@Joe, The Alternative Gamer I agree as I do prefer the WW2 setting but "Warfighter" has some great production values & realistic combat encounters, well worth playing. I reviewed it, see it in my reviews & impressions playlist.

@@vinniecorleone62 So did the late TotalBiscuit on his channel WTF back in 2011 and criticized WF for the game's over-scripted dungeon's lair simple simon job that takes away the incentive to play the game yourself. After how they mocked the legend's passing I haven't played an EA since that time.

    • @vinniecorleone62

@marcus kahn Total Biscuit was often overtly critical of good games. Many reviewers looked for anything about the game to pick apart because the game was not politically correct for it's time.

A true relic of WW2 videogame fps history.Spielberg had managed to convince the founders of the Congressional Medal of Honors club to give their seal of approval for Destination Games to finish the game back in 1996. Why Allied Assault is not available on steam is mystifying to say the least cus it is on GOG.
