In reference to our decision to spell the style as Whacking instead of Waacking: We will be sharing some information we've learned from our STEEZY Studio instructor and Whacking advisor Lorena Valenzuela @thelorenav, whose mentor is Viktor Manoel (One of the Original Punkers). First off, Whacking uses the word Whack because it's based on the old Batman comic book pop art texts, like "WHACK!" "BOOM!" "POW!". Anyways.... Around the 70's, a dancer named Tyrone Proctor moved from New York to participate in Soul Train (in California). There he met some of the Original Punkers and started learning from them. He later moved back to New York and started sharing this "west coast" style called "Waacking". Viktor didn't know why he started spelling it that way. Viktor thinks he just misspelled it because back in the day there was not a lot of documentation or written proof of what these guys were doing... so he just heard the word and thought it was spelled like that. The spread of misinformation came largely due to the fact that most of the Original Punkers died of AIDS in the 80's and 90's and Viktor retired from the dance industry because of the pain of losing all of his friends. However, Tyrone Proctor became very famous and was one of the few dancers from the early days of Whacking/Punking that was still teaching around the world. This means that much of the newer generations were taught by Tyrone. However... around 2009, Toni Basil brought Viktor back into the scene and valuable information about the style of Whacking and the Original Punkers started to spread. This resurfacing of this information created so much confusion around the world. At STEEZY, we are choosing to respect cultural roots and break the cycle of misinformation within dance by talking to the originals and their students. We hope this clears up our reasoning!
he started spelling it in a different way because of the negative connotation of the word "whacking" = to strike with force and also to avoid the sexual connotation from "to whack off"

Next time they do it, the krumpers are not going to teach beginner krump lol #revenge
i love the vibe in this! you go krumperssss! haha even when they messed up
I loved seeing the krumpers do the whacking!!! They did so good! I know they're going to somehow be inspired to integrate this into their dancing and vice versa.
dude I LOVE that you guys decided to put in the instructors reaction too!!! also I LOVE THE ENERGY AND THE HYPE IN THE PERFORMANCES!!!!!!! OMG
7:07 not even gonna cap, John did that shit lol
when professionals met another professional, damnnn🔥💯
I LOVE THESE SERIES SO MUUUUUCH!!!!!!!
Is this what solidarity looks like?
Krump and whacking as an extension of black, brown, asian, lgbt communities sharing culture and learning from one another. Putting on each other's dance shoes, in one choreo a whole new appreciation for the way another person expresses their experience through art.
I want other videos like this one. Its so interesting to see dancers going out of thir comfort zone and try new styles.
the aggressiveness of the krump with the fluidity of whacking.... noice
I really want to see between Whacking & Vogue dancer learn each of their style
The krumpers reaction to the girls krumpin was priceless 👍 The girls killed it!✅💯
Lily is such a force!
I absolutely love john's energy
I’ve tried both krumping and waacking and they are both hard no matter what. But I love both so much. When you first try both you’re gonna be in pain but FIGHT THROUGH IT❤️
I remember in my crew we selected all our krumpers together as a group to dance our waacking choreo. surprisingly they all killed it.
The dancer in the green pants is just amazing 👏
On fire!! I love the essence the energy!
Nah this series was soooo good wtf lol, the girls were amazing at Krump man, I wanted to see them enjoy it more !
Oh nooo but that krumper who just gave up because he couldn’t 😭
Does steezy have a video on tutting?
Besides on steezystudio.co😅
We have a tutting basics tutorial with Slim Boogie but otherwise no! This comment definitely has us thinking though 🤔
@@steezystudio - Yes, please make some tutting videos. I mainly do krump, but I'd like to add tutting to my arsenal.
@@steezystudio yeah, you guys should. It's such an important part of the animation and popping flow expression. Also, tips on not just memorizing rote tut patterns, but learning patterns in ways that allow you to freestyle it as well by. I think that just comes with time though.
