I rented an RC8 while in Austria recently. This KTM is unbelievable, I just love it. While I can look up cost and insurance details myself I'm not clear on the parts and service aspect. The factors I see affecting parts and service costs are, - Pretty rare Austrian bike : More expensive than a Japanese counterpart - Lack of electronics : Less expensive than a Japanese counterpart Overall should I expect the RC8R to be more or less expensive than a Japanese equivalent, or a BMW S1000RR say?
I'll buy this just for the AISI 41xx chromoly steel chassis. It's only worth having a high-end suspension and brake system if you have a flexless chassis that's not flexy like the alum twin spar types. That's where the "feel" part comes from, without having to pay the price of the 1199 panegale that doesn't have a chassis. Love the dual spark-plugs per cylinder too. Also, it's not exactly low tech, if it has engine mapping settings, just interference free. XD
Your 600 feels like a pit bike compared to the rc8, I rode my mates zx10r and I couldn't feel or hear it Until I hit 11,000 rpm, my rc8 kicks in from the get go And I can hear it even with ear plugs in. Lol
How is the durability on this one compared to gixxers and ninjas for example??? I was always kawa/suzuki switch... But now im seriously thinking to get this monster
beautiful perspective. having the engine mic'd would be icing. beastie boys never hurt. keep it com in
We're in Northern California....Bay Area. Glad you liked it.

The RC8 might be my favorite looking bike, but I'm not tired of the power I get from 600's yet ha

Marty
bullshit. my zx10r gets going long before 11000 rpm
Marty i hate to say it cuz I love the rc8 but a zx10r will murder it.
No doubt!
Where were you riding? Great video, by the way.

that bike is fucking gorgeous
Thats Tassahara back roads ?
Did you wear Textile or Leather Clothers?
How that tach in sunlight/night? Not a big fan of a digital tachometer
It took a bit to get used to; once I did, I loved it.
So is the bike really rough without electronics? Does it miss traction control or .. not?
No, it's not rough one bit; that said, you've got to know what you're doing to ride it fast.
Range varies, but you can count on 150. $16.5K.
the top speed of the bike?
"Hey Ladies!"
Some people just don't get it... And never will.
Ah well, fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.
Good lookin' bike.
เคิ้วววววววววว............งามหาย ป......... เต๊อะ i like you KTM
I'll work on that....I'm as low tech as it gets.
Cal Moro that is such a ballen response to some cakehole birches on the music. Too funny. RC8R is boss. ...
Darn autophill bunked up my comment. Fiddlesticks!
Mamaaa.a.a

Traction control is for lady's lol
Rc8 best bike of the century.
Video would have been much better if the annoying music out of the cell phone wasn't playing in the background.
