    For a farm or Ag bike I love the 2 stands. Nothing worse than a bike that falls over at every gate.

      Bobby here... and honestly I had no idea Chris was going to do that. But that's us, we just make things up. As our interaction is so awesome, we've decided that we will start doing live stream episodes and talk about various news in 4wd industry. Watch out for that. It will mostly be the two of us taking a piss at each other though.

    I converted my old pushbike into an E-bike using a kit. It has a 250kw wheel motor in the front wheel and pulls me along quite nicely. I like the idea of one of these but for me they sit in an odd space. 2kw of power should pull the bike along at a good clip you would think, yet they're not as fast as a small scooter would be. You need that speed to keep up with traffic if you plan to register it. Is there any way you can convert the way cooler black one to pass ADR and register it on the road?

    • @4WDriversGuide
      @4WDriversGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Gary. Unfortunately no. The Work Bike doesn't have any ADR compliance paperwork. As it is missing a speedo, mirrors and indicators, the bike would not make it past inspection. It would be a far cheaper solution to paint an Adventure Bike (the white one) black. 50km/hr is a little slow and it would have been nice if they had made them reach 60km/hr instead. We use ours mostly off-road and they are a perfect solution for our "last mile" needs. Because of this, the speed doesn't really have any impact.

    I really enjoyed the banter and it’s a lovely bike. I do have a question; If you take one to the shops or just out and about, how good is the security? I hear a lot of ebikes get stolen. Can these be locked somehow?

    • @4WDriversGuide
      @4WDriversGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi David. The key is a proximity key which disables the bike when you are not using it. There is also a key lock which will lock the handle bars/front wheel. The battery is also protected by a key lock to prevent someone walking off with your power source.

    I love the idea, and might actually buy one, but I would really like it if they could do about 75KPH. That would be enough to be highway useful-about 50MPH here. I wonder how much extra the freight would be to Alaska.

      Hi Keith. We agree. A faster bike would be great but we aren't going to hold our breath on that ; ). We are pretty sure that there is some dealers in the USA. We can only suggest getting in touch with UBCO and seeing what the costs would be.

    Awesome Video! Only 249 likes (right now) on TH-cam3 for this is Bull. We should give everyone who hasn't seen this the 'waving finger' (joke about the ending and Big Bang Theory). I own the black one - wish it was street legal though - will probably modify it to do so. I need turn signals and mirrors - maybe a speedometer too. This bike is a total Pony. It can get up and go - just wish it could go 10 - 20k faster.

      State and Territory Police forces here in Oz are cracking down on e-scooters and e-bikes as there has been an influx of imported models that don't comply with our current laws. Anything with a motor capacity greater than 250 watts and a speed greater than 25km/hr (or there abouts) is deemed not suitable for use on a footpath. These bikes have dual 1kw motors and a limited to 50km/hr. Fortunately, the Adventure Bike is road registrable and can be operated as a moped - driven on a standard driver's licence. The footpath mode is a great idea (I have mobility issues myself having had both ankles fused) however given that law makers around the world tend to work on the lowest common denominator, the minority of people who would abuse this feature would make the feature (in my opinion) unworkable.

      Was it the passively racist bit where he refers to the camera guy’s “Indian cheque book”?

    • @4WDriversGuide
      @4WDriversGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@spiceweasel945 sorry you thought I was being "passively racist" and that is the issue with making comments about an event where you only have part of the story. Prior to us rolling the camera, the "camera guy" had joked about he wouldn't buy one because his "Indian cheque book" wouldn't allow it. The banter from that conversation was still going on when we started filming. Also, the camera guy edits the video and has full control over what we put online. The other thing to consider is that it is not racist if there is no malice behind the comment and it is two friends having some fun together. Appreciate your feedback.

    • @spiceweasel945
      @spiceweasel945 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@4WDriversGuide I’m not suggesting you were being mean to the guy, or ‘oppressing’ him in any way. It was clearly banter, and everyone was having a good time. You cannot argue however that “it’s not racist if there’s no malice behind it”..a very slippery slope down there! I suppose it’s just worth reflecting that when we live in cultures built on colonialism and genocide and in a world of very unequal power relationships etc it’s a learning journey to appreciate the context we are in and that of others. Modelling certain behaviours - even in jest - is worthy of reflection that’s all.
      I can joke with my mates about their “black skin”, or cultural quirks.. but in a public arena on a public platform sometimes things can be misinterpreted and it can legitimise the (perhaps less well meaning) behaviour of others. I’m not criticising you, and I’m not accusing you of bad behaviour.. just pointing out something to reflect on.

    • @LensNation

      @@spiceweasel945 Heya Spice, Bobby here, the cameraman in question. And before you read this, please keep in mind that I am not using a sarcastic tone or trying to win the argument or catering to my ego in a comment flame war or anything of the sort :) I think you have made a very good point. I'm just putting my point of view here and hopefully make the world a slightly better place by having one genuine discussion.
      I do understand your sentiment but as you said, it was very evident that we were having spontaneous banter. If one is going to find racism in this kind of back and forth, then they are pretty much set in their mind to find racism in anything. From them, no public platform is safe. The comedy of Russel Peters would be most offensive. "Merger" and "Backyard Ashes" made by Mark Grentell would be prosecuted. Honestly, watch these movies if you haven't. By making jokes about ethnic stereotypes, these movies set the theme that Mateship is above racism.
      To take it further, in my opinion when you are mates and you truly understand and respect each other, real mateship begins with tearing down these boundaries. I think we all need to relax a little and not judge anyone that fast. The world will be a better place if we all gave each other a little benefit of the doubt. And trust me mate, I'm much more savage to Chris than Chris is to me... ha ha ha
      The honest truth is that Chris understands me, my culture, and my heritage more than anyone else. What's more, he respects it. I can tell you stories where he has taken pains to educate others about who I am. Na bro, this is us and we are very good mates and we will stay like this. I wouldn't change it for anything and won't put any filter on it for TH-cam, because then it won't be us. Hopefully, you will understand what I'm trying to say.
      Sorry about the long post, but it came straight from the heart. UBCO will be so proud.
