My Saturn is my favorite blaster that I own. Reliability, comfort, and accuracy are the most important traits for me, and a traditional looking rival shotgun fills all those criteria perfectly.
I also own the Saturn its a fun blasten to use. i got mine on sale for alittle over $20
I personally don't really like mine, are you guys Saturn's unmodded? I hate the stock it's so flat and short

in my opinion the Hades is one of the best for it's value. also very competitive
not to mention it looks amazing. by far my favorite Rival blaster, in close second the Chronos and third the Pilot because of the sheer moding potential, and it's a very effective emergency backup if you shotgun load it.
i think the Perses is better.

I’m just starting to get back into nerf as an adult after being semi into it as a kid, and this channel has been my go to before purchasing a blaster. Not only that, it taught me that flywheel powered blasters can be just as fun as spring powered blasters.
I was a stickler for spring powered blasters for a long time because “that’s what I grew up with *old man sounds*” but now that I own a Hera my opinion has changed.
Flywheel really does seem like the master race.
literally only downside of flywheelers is that they take batteries and that they’re noisy
I accept and acknowledge that for battle effectiveness, flywheel is best, but I still prefer springers . I play very infrequently so when the time does come that I want to mess around with my nerf collection, it's nice to have a blaster that is always ready to function, no batteries required.
It's sad that the Nemesis isn't in the top picks anymore. I remember when it was Frank's favourite blaster. Nostalgia!
I know and am fully aware that the Takedown is not the most battle-effective blaster, but hey, it was on clearance sale for a really large discount and I wanted a Rival blaster to use. Did also add some speedloaders to make it slightly more battle effective (it also helps that the HvZ games in my area don't have as much emphasis on having the absolute best blasters).
Probably my favorite blaster in the line. At the end of the day, comfort and fun are what matter to me most in the hobby, and the Takedown nails both IMO.
The Takedown is a good introduction blaster, if you already have better blaster (like the the Artemis) there's no good reason to buy it but if it's the first rival blaster you have it is a fun one
I have a soft spot for it because it is also my first Nerf blaster

I absolutely love the consistent naming scheme for the Rival blasters - An M denotes flywheel-powered, the following numerals are for the release year (minus 2000), and the final number is for the provided round count (multiplied by 100). I can be like "oh wow the nemesis was released in 2017? That feels like it's so much less time than it actually was."

I definitely like the Perses as a primary, the Kronos as a sidearm, and the Fate as a single-shot plinker (priming the Apollo and the Knockout were hard on my wrist). I liked where they were going with the Finisher making it so kuch easier to reload over the Kronos (even with the third-party speedloaders), but the mag well being so far forward made it hard to holster and I guess they never felt the need to revisit it since the Kronos was still selling well.
I’m glad this was just recently posted up. Rival is an awesome line and we definitely need more of it from the “mothership” or from community designs.!

It would be cool to see the year these were released alongside the name of the blaster. I know it’s specific to updated videos but it’s cool to see how Nerf has progressed with a rough timeline. Thanks Frank!
The year is actually in the name of the blaster. The Nemesis, for example has "XVII" in the name. That is the Roman numeral for 17, indicating that the blaster was released in 2017.
Notice how he doesn’t have any unmodified Perses in the studio. Perses, a great blaster that only gets better.

I mainly buy 2nd hand elite-type blasters to play with my nephews, but I have been thinking of getting a couple of rival blasters. I don't 'battle' so it's great to see a list not just of top picks, but that pretty much all of them have something cool or fun about them. Got to say I like springers, and that Artemis looks very interesting...
Try going to your local thrift store, I've seen rival blasters for super cheap there.
My favorite rival blaster I own is my modded helios with a worker pump kit, it has plenty of power and has a great form factor, and it has saved my life at many HVZ games.
Hera is the best semi auto blaster in the rival series.
Rival is easily my favorite line...... and those 150 half length shots won't kill you😂. Just be safe about it and move quickly.
since the perses came out my loadout has remained the same. Prometheus primary, covered in dump pouches for reloading, sidearm is a Herrrra with a few extra mags, Perses is my corner clearing weapon and is also good for running around faster. I don't use springers because A)flywheel master race and B)stealth isn't important for a heavy gunner.
Two upsides of the Khaos (aside from the usually lower price point): near-instant reloads with multiple mags, and an always-consistent stream of shots. My Perses struggled to fire at even a slight angle due to the feeding mech, same for other hopper-fed blasters. The fire rate is slower, yes, but your shots always come out when you expect them to.

I actually bought 4 perses(es?) with the modded mag for family entertainment after watching your review a couple of years ago. I feel that those are all the Nerf foam flingers I would ever need. Of course, that sentiment didn't age well. I bought 4 Nerf Hyper Rush 40 for side arms after watching your review, but I don't think we have used them enough to justify the purchase. At the end of the day, if you can't shoot your target with 200+ rounds, the Rush isn't going to do much.
I also saw your review of the Out of Darts Proton Pack… I actually was going to get 8 of them and make 4 custom backpacks for dual-wielding with over 2000 rounds capacity, until my wife showed her discontent (I barely justified the 4 perses(es) and she already wasn't happy about the Rushes). If I actually did that, it would be any Nerfer's wet dream comes true.

sold my lipo modified perces to afford a vr headset, and even though i used to own a nemesis and kinda wanted the super capacity without a large 3d printed extension but the perces with nothing but a lipo wire hosed rounds out like a laser pointer

The Hades is probably my favorite one, especially because of how beefy (compared to most) it is
The rival ammo is the only nerf thing I'd be comfortable with calling "bullets" because they aren't darts, balls sounds improper, and rounds is what I'd call a shotgun shell with ammo inside of it
Rounds are a general term, not just shotguns

The Kronos is like the plain black t-shirt of Rival blasters. It's hard to go wrong with it
My Kronos doesn't fire fast enough to leave the barrel because of the little piece that is attached to the top of the inside. Pretty much the only way you can really go wrong is if it breaks

Not mentioned about the Artemis and Hades is that its really easy to top off the internal magazines while in-field.
So happy to see the Perseus hopper extension is on the list. In my opinion it is easily the best blaster and the most fun to use.

Don't forget the amazing mod support for the Kronos in particular! I seem to recall a video where you gave one a loading funnel, speedloaders, a magnetic holster, and a spring upgrade.
This reminded me that I still need to pick up a Saturn at some point, but man, I forgot how many blasters the series has. Given that they have the 'accu-strike' series, and Hyper was DOA, I hope they keep going with Rival - Even if it's just re-shells. It's the closest they'll probably ever get to a "pro" line, so they should keep it going.

The Sideswipe is so awful. It jams all the time and the priming handle manages to fall off regularly. We have about 8 of them and I regret it. Anyway, great content! Thank you for making this.

I'd doubt it, since Hyper rounds are much smaller and will probably jam the blaster all the time.

i went to a good will and bought a rival hades for 9$. i was like a toddler that was given free will to go anywhere in a candy store. it was my dream blaster to own when it first came out and i heard about it from you but could never get it
In your next Nerf competition, you should do the three Nerf gun editions again. It would be interesting to see ZombieStrike, Rival, Elite 2.0, Mega, and Doomlands in this kind of competition.
