I love that the kids'main goal is to represent the Philippines and become part of the National Team. Carlos Yulo, Hidilyn Diaz and the other Olympic athletes are inspiring these children to reach that dream 🇵🇭
As a Filipino Football Fan who is longing for exposure of Football here in the country. I am seeing at a bright future ahead to our grassroots. Carry our Flag to the International stages and show our countryman how beautiful this game is.
Instead of Taylor Swift's concert stadium the Philippine government should put up football stadiums introduce this sport to young kids, support and guide them and for sure we will have a lot of Nesta. It is time for football to be the number one sport in the Philippines. It is not very well known to Filipinos but we have Paulino Alcantara from Iloilo City, he played for FC Barcelona from 1912 to 1927 and in 399 games he made 395 goals he has won 5 Spanish Championships and 10 Catalan Championships.
Wow 15 years with FC Barcelona is incredible, much more to be selected to play with this team is a feat. My parents are from Iloilo and knowing that someone from my native province got the chance to play with this team makes me more proud. Yes, I think it’s about time the Philippine sport commission or who ever is in charge with Philippine sports should invest more on sports where we have the potential to win. Less investment on basketball I personally say, for the simple reason that we don’t have the height to compete with the other towering nationals. Soccer is one sport where you don’t have to be incredibly tall… also with gymnastics. I was so happy when the women’s team qualified in the 2023 World Cup, meaning to say we have a chance in this sport to excel. This boy has a good future in soccer. I hope people with good hearts are able to fund his training to keep his dreams going. The politicians should support young athletes and come up with a really good program if we want to compete with the rest of the world rather than pocketing the funds for their own personal use.😊

To Nesta, all the best and keep fire going. Hoping to see you soon on the national football team and even in one of the international footbal team.

nahhh, southeast asian like their asean neighbors suck at soccer,ph is not that different since we are moslty austronesian except for singapore which are mostly chinese
We have so many half european players. It's just that they don't get utilized properly. If we're a good team, big names like David Alaba would've played for the PH national team. If they started recruiting half pinoy players abroad, just like what our basketball team doing lately, then it would benefit a lot for this country. Philippines is currently the sleeping giant when it comes to SEA football.

My daughter played in that tournament with a different club😊 Yes, football is a rich man's sport, particularly in Manila. We are actually not from Manila. We had to sacrifice a lot when she decided that she wanted to be a football player. We had to move her to homeschool to cut cost and have enough resources to put her in the best training programs. So far she's been doing well, and improving. If i have to compare our yearly expenses for football, it's more than what you spend for tuition in a year in the most expensive University in the Philippines. I know it will be all worth it
Praying for the success of your child. Sana makalaro sya professionally kung ito nga ang kanyang pangarap. Mabuhay kayong parents sa pagsuporta sa pangarap ng inyong anak.
Hi. The son of my colleague was able to get a scholarship to play football in the high school dept of UST (univ of sto tomas). Try to search for football scholarships - some big schools may offer them. Best of luck to you & your family.
That's strange to hear, because in most other countries football is a poor or working man's sport. Many of the top players like Maradona, Di Maria, Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldo R9, Rooney, Sanchez, Robinho, Tevez, Ibrahimovic, Suarez, Riquelme, Rivaldo, etc all came from poor or working class backgrounds.
@@sebfox2194 yes, those players that you mentioned all came from humble backgrounds. The thing is, there is a football culture in their countries. There are many clubs in the countryside where a kid can learn & improve his football skills. In PH, the main sport played & watched is basketball, 2nd is volleyball. Basketball was introduced to PH by the Americans when PH was colonized by them. Almost every town has a basketball court. Football (soccer) fields are few & far between. If a kid wants to learn & train in football, the kid's parents has to enroll him in extra lessons (usually during weekends) and there's a cost. The kid featured in this docu, though relatively poor, was only able to be in the football academy because he's a scholar. Most of his companions are from rich or middle class families.

I would love to see another story on this kid, like a follow-up story. I believe this kid will make it to the pros. If not in the Philippines but in another country. Wishing him the best.
My American boss told me that Filipinos has more potential in boxing, baseball and Soccer (futbol) than in Basketball. Because our height is short, but we are fast in running.
We do pretty well in boxing (although amateur boxing is another thing and we have yet to still win Gold in the Olympics) but I do agree we need to diversify...we did have some football interest around early 2010's but petered a bit and I do wonder if we can still excel there (as other countries have bigger players that are also pretty fast now).
LOL! All Asians don't have potentials in football. The SEA Games champions don't win medals in the Asian Games. The Asian Games champions never win medals in FIFA WC. Asians are not for football.
I used to eat in their eatery. OMG the nostalgia. One of my favorite places in Area 2. The soccer field was under construction when I stayed at UP Diliman back in ~2016. I want to go back.
My son plays in the PFL, and played in the Thai League before for several years. There's no money in playing in the PFL. There's very little support for grassroots football and if you can't afford expensive academy training, very few opportunities for kids to play. Not enough pitches, not enough qualified coaches. The PFF really needs to concentrate resources into grassroots football.
His coaches/mentors, his parents, his peers, he's got everything and everyone supporting him. Even though I'm a basketball fan, I think our country will excel in football given that we have not been blessed with height vs western countries. Will be rooting for him in the future. The parents of Nesta are just so awe inspiring. He is a very good and an energetic happy boy. God bless him to be healthy , safe and protect him nit to be injured when he play🙏. The Coach is really nice and I like it he does scoldings. He is like a father figure to them. Thank you so much for sharing..
The problem with the Philippines is that our leaders didn’t have the foresight to provide infrastructure for sports development. When you live in Manila, you will have to travel far to get to a public park with green and open spaces. In the video, they had to play at the UP Sunken Garden, which not even a public park. Very much unlike other countries where a park is a just a few minutes walk away.
It only takes one born and raised Filipino footballer to actually get our younger generation and sponsorships to see that we have a better chance to making it to the world stage in this sport compared to basketball. For our kids to get better and become elite, they would need better trainers, facilities and most of all --- COMPETITION which unfortunately we do not have. One day, I hope, one day.
Welsh/Filipino from the UK here! You’re such an inspiration and I hope you achieve your dreams mate. Keep going and I reckon one day we’ll see you playing in either the English Premier League or La Liga!!
I never had any chance to play football but I hope that you achive all your dreams and also become modern Paulino Alcantara. Show to our fellow Filipinos what is the real culture of this game. Its not boring like what most of the American and filipinos perception. You have bright future. Praying for your sucess
Really amazed this boy. Hoping his dreams and goal do come true. I'm very very fan of football too. Last 2019 if I'm not mistaken I watched Brazil in national stadium in Singapore and really really enjoyed. Good luck Nesta
I'm almost 30 and never had this mindset. I'm glad there are still Filipino kids with this behavior. Happy to have heard his story early on, he'll go far.
Way To GO!!!!... I love the attitude of the little kid Nesta very persistent, determined and he KNOWS what he wants.. My goodness at a young age to have such outlook ... admirable... Bayern Munich be his team.. I'd be sooooooooo happy... To ELMER "Lacknet" BEDIA, sooo proud of you friendship...haha... To CNA Insider, you did a good job putting this documentary film together. Thank you so much for highlighting the talents we have in the Philippines, although soccer is still relatively not noticed. God bless you and THANK you again for sharing this for the world to see... :) :)
That is true, with the lack of facilities to practice the craft of football here in the Philippines. Sadly now it's really just for the rich. I love the passion of Nesta, I know someday he will make us proud of our national team.
My grandfather who became a uk citizen used to send us football shoes and soccerball for us grand children but we do not have facilities and friend who where interested in football. everyone back in 80's and 90's pinoy kid's where into basketball. i used to watch football on a very short segment in gilletes sports channel and thats it. now im at my 40's and still have regrets of learning it as i know football was a big thing except philippines. I wish pinoy kids should be more expose into football and other sports.
Correct, the govt doesn't support football/ soccer when it's a sport that Filipinos have the possibility to excel in. Even short people can play football in an international level, unlike basketball where you need tall people. In high school, I had a classmate who was originally from Manila. He was short but he was our batch's star player during competitions because he was very fast & agile. I hope that this kid Nesta, despite his size & financial situation, can achieve his dreams of being an international athlete.
I'm sure someday you'll reach your dreams there's nothing impossible when you work hardest to reach it time will come you'll be a podium receiving your gold medal in the Olympics or any international sports competition representing our country Philippines. For now, focus your studies and practice to hone your mental and physical skills. Kudos boy and see you soon in the international arena.
My kababayans are super talented has a good spirit in every sports they speak English very well, they are people who can really inspire others love them, love my country.
We are currently seeing the emergence of another potential Carlo Yulo. It brings back memories of Carlo's youth when he was also being interviewed, and now look at where he is. This young individual has a promising future. He possesses ambition, determination, and intelligence. I commend Nesta's parents for responsibly supporting his life aspirations. I sincerely hope and pray that our government, particularly the local government units, will also investment in sports infrastructure and parks where children can pursue their dreams.
I am proud to be a Filipino, may the goberment support all our young student to or player on what the sport they want, like Yulo no one think that he can get a two gold medal in his sport.
this guy will start the football team for the philipines and maybe put them in FIFA someday. I want to see Phillipine team in FIFA in the future someday
For him to fully utilize his potential, he needs to be in a football academy in Europe (Italy, Netherlands, France, Germany, England, Portugal, Belgium) or South America (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador). He needs to be playing with and against the cream of the crop.
Nice documentary. CNA should also show the basketball culture in the Philippines. Football is presented here because ASEAN, a major consumer of these shows, can relate more to a football journey than a basketball one. However, ASEAN basketball is the Philippines. CNA should present how the Philippines is world-class in basketball and what it takes for ASEAN to reach our level. For Nesta, I wish you the best on your sporting journey... Other parents would always say why prioritize sport? For me, as long as my kid has good grades, he can always dream big, go for the PBA if needed! Having a business and working at an office is always a second option. 😊
Actually Filipinos can excel in Football more than Basketball because you dont have to be very tall to play professional football but you need good footwork, stamina and agility. However, its really a sports where mostly middle class and upper class kids play because we dont have a lot of imprastructure for football in the Philippines.
This is what the Philippines needs support and backing from parents and organizations. With the gold medals that carlos yulo won, will inspire more parents to support their kids to becomes international athletes.
I agree with you. Football is popular in Iloilo province because the football pitches are open to the public. They are found in plazas. Good examples are La Paz (Iloilo City), Santa Barbara, and Barotac Nuevo. In some towns, they are found in public schools. One example is Guimbal. Here in my place, they are in private schools and colleges. So football ends up as a sport for the rich.
Is football really big in Ilo Ilo or Bacolod. I just want to have some hope there is a community of football culture in the country. I hope there culture is strong there that is can develop legit football talents.
@kitty_s23456 but the biggest football field found in visayas, in iloilo, cebu and negros, it's where football was born, and iloilo produced the best Filipino legend footballer , paulino Alcantara, he was born and raised in iloilo
football is so exciting when you played it and know the game, most people in philippines never experience it thats why its boring for them, but i asked cameroonian, mexican, and brazilian they said basketball is boring. should put football field in every schools, if not in metro, in all provinces. and i wish baseball field also.
The biggest difference between average kids who plays basketball in Philippines to kids who plays football in other countries, is Filipino kids cannot dream of becoming Lebron while kids in countries like Brazil can dream of becoming neymar, messi, or ronaldo. I hope Filipino sees football as a sport for everyone which doesn't require as much physical genetic gifts compared to other sports.
I luckily grew up near a football field where we also played baseball here in the Philippines. And growing up in the 90s, watching Brazil and R9, i fell in love with the game. We were lucky coz there would be players that was willing to coach us. Taught us everything, like skills, passing, about the rules etc. There was a huge wall and we would practice our shooting and shot power there. I still remember saving for my first spike shoes and shin guard. 😂 then we began entering competitions and we dominated schools in our district coz we are fortunate enough to have a field to practice on. 😅 our coach taught us one touch football, we were not that perfect but i remember our coach would take us to manila for friendly games with kids from big schools like ateneo etc. Not everyone in the team was permitted to come tho coz parents are strict. Anyway, i'm just glad that the love for futbol is still in some filipinos. I hope it gets big someday. Bigger than when the Azkals introduced the game to some new fans ❤
I'm Nesta's Team mate. And I see That he Enjoys playing football like it's no tomorrow. He's a funny guy too.

When you live in Manila, you will have to travel far to get to a public park with green and open spaces. In the video, they had to play at the UP Sunken Garden, which not even a public park. Very much unlike other countries where a park is a just a few minutes walk away.
It should be available to every kids in the Philippines
It only takes one born and raised Filipino footballer to actually get our younger generation and sponsorships to see that we have a better chance to making it to the world stage in this sport compared to basketball. For our kids to get better and become elite, they would need better trainers, facilities and most of all --- COMPETITION which unfortunately we do not have. One day, I hope, one day.
awesome people, awesome Family, Great kid. I hope to see you here in Australia. Good luck Nesta
Im really amazed how fluent these kids are with speaking English.
English is commonly used as a daily conversation or in school and it's our official language along with Filipino/Tagalog
The children can communicate well in English ❤
It’s the Philippines duuhhhh…
Welsh/Filipino from the UK here! You’re such an inspiration and I hope you achieve your dreams mate.
Keep going and I reckon one day we’ll see you playing in either the English Premier League or La Liga!!
We will be following and supporting you nesta! Mabuhay!
I will PRAY FOR YOU KID.
GOD KNOWS AND GOD CARES.
JUST WAIT YOUR TIME ----> IT WILL COME. CONTINUE THE HARD WORK.
They speak English very well..Pilipino are bliss people

Halatang uhaw na uhaw sa appreciation ng ibang lahi..🤮🤮.
Best of wishes young Warrior. Do your best make your country proud someday!
I'm almost 30 and never had this mindset. I'm glad there are still Filipino kids with this behavior. Happy to have heard his story early on, he'll go far.
i wish you do well Nesta. And when you become famous one day. I can tell my kids that i have seen you when you were this little.
I’m now a fan of this sport since I saw this boy Nesta has a lot of potential.Keep up the good work.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
For sure Nesta will become big and famous
Correct. We simply didn’t have the facilities.
First time seeing a filipino footballer. im proud 😊
Quite a heartwarming story. Kudos to the parents with their all-out support for their kid's dream. Sports breed discipline one needs for success.
The biggest sports in the world. Philippine government should have budget for this sport.
It's too hot here so I'm not sure if it's a good idea to spend more money in this kind of sport.
Kid you’ll make it … hold on to your dreams.
YES,EVEN NOW .I AM SO PROUD OF YOU KIDS FOR FUTURE OLYMPIC ATHLETES.MABUHAY🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Great story! Good luck Nesta
Proud of you boy , always follow your dreams
a lot of my teammates idolize him and he is rowdy at times but he is an amazing footballer😆
Hi Nesta from cebu! I trained with you before at CFC!
- Zach CFC U11 #6
I am proud to be a Filipino, may the goberment support all our young student to or player on what the sport they want, like Yulo no one think that he can get a two gold medal in his sport.
God bless you Nesta and family ❤
this guy will start the football team for the philipines and maybe put them in FIFA someday. I want to see Phillipine team in FIFA in the future someday
lets go nesta!!!
NESTA WILL BRING FOOTBALL BIG IN PH
We both like Neymar, Good luck kids.. I wish you all the luck, i wish you all can represent our country.
NOPE...CNA will not make an episode about good things for Philippines only for Singapore..checked all their episodes🤔🤦♂
@@lemmings3789yes dito sa asia at asean tayo lagi punching bag ng media pano gobyerno nila mga dectador monarchies at communist 😂
Salamat po Coach for sharing your Talents
Actually Filipinos can excel in Football more than Basketball because you dont have to be very tall to play professional football but you need good footwork, stamina and agility. However, its really a sports where mostly middle class and upper class kids play because we dont have a lot of imprastructure for football in the Philippines.
This is what the Philippines needs support and backing from parents and organizations. With the gold medals that carlos yulo won, will inspire more parents to support their kids to becomes international athletes.
any info how to donate for Nesta?
Lies again? Careers jobs to poor people
Challenge is access to open spaces as well. Policies for access are very restrictive- be it private area or public spaces.
Im lookng forwad for ths amaziing boy in his future go fighting nestea we make us proud😊
Go outside the capital city, football field strive in western Visayas region
His football academy is in Metro Manila and he's a scholar there. His dad's food business is also in Manila. It's not that easy to move.
It's not surprising for Brazilians, Cameroonians and Mexicans to find basketball as boring because they are not watchi g it literally
Football is what we should be doing as pinoys.
Good Luck Nesta and hopefully I can meet you as I play in the sunken garden
The biggest difference between average kids who plays basketball in Philippines to kids who plays football in other countries, is Filipino kids cannot dream of becoming Lebron while kids in countries like Brazil can dream of becoming neymar, messi, or ronaldo. I hope Filipino sees football as a sport for everyone which doesn't require as much physical genetic gifts compared to other sports.
I'll never forget your name Nesta. ❤❤❤
What a talented kid 👏 good job keep it up 👏👏👏 you will pray for you work hard at soon you will be one of the best football player
Hello La Masia academy, hope you could give this boy a scholarship ❤
very eloquent and smarty pants kids ❤
Politics in the country killing the grassroots! Thats why we cannot produced quality players that can compete internationally.
Lets go NESTA! :D
A lot more Filipinos are likely to go pro in futbol than basketball, they should promote that more.
If only football is famous and supported here in our country.
football is,fmaous,in the philippinez youre just not the the target audience😂
Named after Alessandro Nesta? Awesome kid
AC MILAN legend !
@@cheatsmygame legend! Nesta, Canavarro and Maldini. Italian wall
Named after the legendary defender of Italy, Alessandro Nesta? Nice.
