    Hi Hugh, Superb layout, spent many a youthful loco spotter hour on the steps at St Leonard's bridge watching and copping engines. A true epic task to create such a vast project as this, but you have captured the whole essence of the station and shed approaches. Your electronics are incredible and your professionalism to shunting signals is worthy of special mention. A great credit to your modelling efforts and skills. So enjoyed reliving my past, well done for giving us an update on what is a massive commitment and well worth labour of love. Incredible cheers, Dave

    Really like the weathering on the points and point motors, looks very realistic. All that wiring reminds just why I opted for a simple Highland station with passing loop and a few sidings!

    Hi Hugh - Always a delight to see you have a new video on here. As always it does not disappoint. Very interesting regarding the lights, not sure how I will do that on my layout yet but Dapol are bringing out a fantastic range in N Gauge. Loved the running session at the end, time just runs by watching that. Be very interesting how you are going to fill all the gaps in on your layout.
    Regards Chris

    • @perthsouth5576
      @perthsouth5576  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Chris. Good to hear from you. Yes the gaps are a problem. Because the track beds are all at different heights and gradients, I wanted to keep the top line of the backscene level but have ended up with these gaps. My plan is to have another smaller backscene in front with perhaps some buildings but mainly walls and trees etc. Not sure how it will work out. Will just have to try a few things and see what works. All the best. Hugh

    Hi Hugh, I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I’ve only just found your channel. What a terrific layout and some marvellous track work. I see we both use Digitrax and train controller, although I must confess I have some serious data flow issues with mine currently. Keep up the great work mate, regards, Charlie

      @perthsouth5576  ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks Charlie. Honoured to have you watching my videos! When I started planning the electronics and control of the layout, I watched all Dave Townend’s early McKinley Railway videos and decided to copy what he did! Our local club also uses Digitrax so that helped my DCC choice. Good luck with your goods yard. Fascinating to see your layout all come together. Hugh

    Thank you Hugh for the most welcome update. I must admit I do not enjoy signalling but to take it on in the epic proportions you have would terrify me. That said the perseverance you have shown on this area is amazing. Like you, summer has removed a lot of modelling time and I am now planning for a six month stint in the workshop working on my stock.
    The track work looks great, and ballast always causes stress and discussion. It took me over 20 years to find one in N gauge that satisfied my needs.
    Looking forward to the next episode.
    Warmest regards, Bob

    It's a fantastic room, setup and layout you've created there. I'm not much into steam myself but I can imagine the kaleidoscopic myriad of more modern era locos and rollingstock looking interesting and resplendent on and against your layout setting instead. Regards Julian

    I think your smoke staining on the road bridge is too regimental. They should very in depth of dirt depending on the use of the said route.
    But you have a fantastic representation of Perth south which any modeller would be proud of. Look forward to your future updates regards John

    • @perthsouth5576

      You are probably correct about the smoke John though it doesn’t look as strong in real life as it does on film. Thanks for your comments and glad you enjoyed it. Hugh

    This is the first time I've seen this layout and I'm kind of speechless. It's so large I'm struggling to work out what gauge it is, I thought 00 then thought no, it's the next one up? I'm back to railway modelling for the first time since I was a kid in the 70s and am just planning a tiny 00 gauge diorama of a loco shed, something slightly less ambitious than this layout. I can learn alot from watching experts like yourself, this looks pretty much scratch built? Is it a replica of parts of the Perth network? I'll need to watch some older vids to learn more.

    • @perthsouth5576
      @perthsouth5576  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thanks for watching and for your kind comments. The layout is OO gauge and it’s Peco track all proprietary rolling stock. It measures roughly 20’ x 11’. It is very much based on the south end of Perth station. The track layout south of the station is almost exactly like Perth but there are lots of things I have changed simply because the prototype takes up so much space or because I wanted to include a particular feature (like the goods yard). There is a lot about the background and planning of the layout in some of my older videos if you are interested. Many thanks. Hugh

      @@perthsouth5576 Thanks Hugh, I'll definitely be watching more to see how you this layout progresses. Paul
