Sammy is the Coolest guy out there. Lucky enough to grow up as a kid takin to Daytona each year to watch legends like Dick Mann, Springsteen, Roger DeCoster and all the Best. Sammy is in that Class. Thanks Sammy.
@@alleyoop1234 My Dad rode a BSA 650 to work everyday. He had a garage full of Bikes. So did my Grand Pa. I'm now 59 so I was a lucky kid. Grew up in Va. but got taken to Bike week to watch the races from like 5-12 each year. Got to see them all. Kenny Roberts, Bob Hannah, Gene Romero, Dave Aldana my mom hated him because he hit on her😂😂😂. Grew up playing volleyball in the infield of Daytona toilets with a ball from the grocery store. My brother and I. If you knocked it in the toilet trough you scored. Pick the ball out the piss an keep playing. Bikers coming in out never messed with us. No Pedos in that bunch., laughing at us. Where were our parents, enjoying the 200. I got to see Dick man not only race the 200 but also Flat track. My Dad used to go to alot of Flat track races as well. Got to go to Springfield and Louisville that I remember. I grew up riding Yamaha 60 with Bobble Yarbourgh who was a legend at Flat Track racing but died in Highschool hit by a train with other kids skipping lunch like we all did back then. He would beat the adults as a kid. His dad used to hold the bike up for him at the start because he couldn't touch the ground on the big bikes. He would smoke the adults everytime. My Dad wouldn't let me race because he said I held it wide open. I went in to win 2 World Championships in BMX. I raced my first Flat track race at 57. I won. I've raced 4 races. I've got 3 wins and a second, out of 4 races as an old man racing these kids in my first 4 races ever on a motorcycle.
I'm telling ya , you're on to something really cool. Like a XR race season documentary. Explaining race strategy and performance issues good and bad in real time on track is genius ! Next level stuff!
It was only available to factory supported racers, not the general public. Everyone wants one for a streetbike, but having ridden one on the street, its a terrible street bike. Great on track, terrifying on the road.
I remember that race. I was sitting between turns 1 and 2. First time I was at a race in 42 years. I grew up in the pit. I started racing flat track at 8 years old. That was 1974. I’m 57 now and after going to that race I want to experience it again. I started on an 80. At 10 I went to a 125. I was in an expert 80 class when I went to the 125 at 12 I was on a 500. I wish I could find that 500 and ride it just a few more times before I’m too old. 🥴
The limit to the maximum amount of forward speed in "any racing competition",.. is always based on the "maximum amount of tire grip", to the racing surface/ compound , and then "the time" or "wear amount',... of the number of race in laps that the tire is in it's "maximum amount of peak performance" area of surface grip . I don't think that there is any more "Grip",.. that the current tire compounds can be altered to achieve any more speed out of what's currently available from any tire company's these days,..I think that we have reached a "technological peak",... at this time in today's in tire compound performance. So , even if the motors make more torque or top HP,..The tires themselves , that are currently being used, They Can't take that beating that can be dished out on them with today's motors.
Really good footage from the hot seat!
Seeing an XR winning races again-man, I get worked up.

Great to see you put Dick Mann up first, it was because of those racers for the reason I own a BSA to this day!!
Appreciate that!

Amazing video! I saw this race on the flat track site. Excellent footage from your GoPro! Wild!!!
The XR750 is not a short track bike, but I am VERY impressed to see you podium with that ole girl. Hope you win a Mile...especially Springfield!
So fun. I used to scramble back in the 70’s at our local “run what you brung” tracks in south Texas. Thanks for letting us ride along.
The only HARLEY that has a purpose... You ride it fantastic bro! EPIC Talent on display here...
Sprint cars, flat track and speedway bike are my favorite. Just so honest a form of racing.
Always a Honda guy back in the day (Honda vs Harley)
But not a better looking bike has ever been made.
That XR is one sexy beast! 🥰
Man I hope you do these videos every race , they are awesome!!
Better than AFT coverage!
@@alleyoop1234 Definitely! And...on a XR!!
Might just do that! Wasn't sure I'd get this one out since its a couple weeks old now, but the footage is too good not to share!

wish Harley would produce this bike again

@@dr.hugog.hackenbush9443I wish it was easier to get ahold of period cause it’s at the top of the list of race bikes I wish I could ride
Great Ride Sammy! I watched you win the 2014 Mega Mile video yesterday.
Hamburger Halbert with a big beef finish!! 👏🥩

That's exactly why Harley Davidson made XR750 ....for flat track racing in mind ! It has always been bike that sets the bar to high for others !
Great job on a Great Bike !
Still got it 💪
Keep Slammin’!
Always Sammy the slammer 🙌🏾💪🏽 Be sure to always share those videos with your special Slammy touch!!! ❤🏍️🏁
Sick!!
All the other competitors must HATE seeing a 50year old bike up front and pulling away!
Sucks to be them!!
It’s not the bike it’s the rider, put him on a triumph and he would win
An the factory supported teams with their new bikes 😜
Good riding man
Seems like your your pulling better out of the corners then others. Broader torque band?
Yep! Exactly. She’s a torque monster
I love those XR 750's
Great video!
Thanks, glad ya enjoyed it!
I consider this the greatest bike Harley ever made
Right! Agreed 👊

Nice insight 🤔
You had me going I thought I had mud on my eyeglasses lol😅
Mission accomplished then! ✅ 🏁
My favorite moments in all of racing 🏁

Harley hasn't made this bike since 1982, and it is still competitive.
for you can win some rounds! let's do it!
Ya buddy we’ll be ready for em at the next one! 🏁🏁🏁
Is Sammy Halbert the one that crashed really bad @ Charlotte a fews years back.
Yepppp 💥
Where is the TZ 750?
Yeah let’s bring it out for a spin next! 💨
I think you can win on the slippery tracks. The street motors can't turn and come off the corner like that thing.
I’m a big XR 750 fan!
Better ban that Harley😂😂😂
🙈
You can still by XR75O ....
55 year old air cooled, push rod, two valve, kickin butt on water cooled OHC 4 valve fuel injected bikes.
Still got it!
