I came across this video after not seeing it in years, as a lifelong Kiss fan damn this was probably the tightest heaviest Kiss lineup, my lord Vinnie could play. Nothing against the original lineup, Ace and Peter were great but it’s a shame that VV was so hard to do business with
I do not think VV would have adjusted to the 1990's well in KISS. Even Ace is still stuck in 1986 stylistically and that wasn't even his career heydays. Grunge really changed music in a way people don't truly get, it was a paradigm shift for sure. And ironically all those new bands grew up on the 1970s KISS and they became accepted again but not the 80's KISS. I remember being like 10 listening to Weezer and hearing them sing about Ace Frehley posters and not knowing who he was.
Yeah. Paul and Gene later would criticize Vinnie for his playing but from watching this concert I don't understand what the problem was. Sure he was more over the top than Ace but I feel his playing to their sound to the next level combines with Erics powerful drumming.

Also kind of cool that Ace was in the band, officially, just months before they removed the makeup and that he's the one who's in the musicvideo and also doing performances and interviews for creatures of the night.
