In order to escape, she sleeps. But in her dreams are reminders and clues of what happened. At the end, she finally has no choice but to leave her room. When she sees the horrific scene of her mother's body, she attempts to wake up. But this time, she cannot. She is in reality.

This doesn’t sound sad in the way you normally think of sadness. This feels like loss, emptiness, absence. Like the world has stopped moving. Like you’re sitting in the waiting room. Your mother died an hour ago. You can’t work up the will to do anything. You can’t go home, because your mother won’t be there. You can never go to a place we’re your mother is, because she is nowhere. That’s how this song makes me feel.
In truth, this is somewhat sadder than Yume Nikki. In Yume Nikki, we were able to escape the nightmare in our head at the cost of our life. In LCDDEM, we weren’t able to escape a cold reality despite our efforts and now we must live with it.
No, this is a far better outcome than Yume Nikki's, Chie is still alive and willingly accepts and moves on with what happened on that day. Matsudoki ended her life due to her worser escapism, she thought that she had no other choice but to jump, she was cornered more than Chie was, and that shows how much more devastating Yume Nikki is and how broken Matsudoki really was.
hmm my views on the ending are quite different than yours i believe that madotsuki was in a dream the entire game and was maybe suffering from a coma as you see the jellyfish angels at the bottom of the ending but i agree LCDDEMs ending was heartwrenching

i know a lot of people don’t care for these types of games, let alone understand why they carry emotional weight. but if you just take a step back and see it less as a game, and more as an expression of the creator’s experiences or brain, it can really hit you. spoiler for this game: the end sequence is so emotional for me. it’s not even about the blood, or Chie breaking down and staying alive (as opposed to many other games like this), but for me it’s about the way your effects circle around. there HAS to be significance to that. seeing them all appear as their real world counterparts, simple objects such as an eraser or colored pencils… it feels so important and personal to the creator, and like something I’ll never be able to truly fathom. was it the last thing she has from the person (people) she lost? do they signify some sort of spectrum of experiences with them? it’s just so sad, with this empty song that never seems to find a resolution.
i know we’ll never get closure on what happened with the creator of this, but i can’t help myself from thinking about it every now and then. i think this game is amazing and it’s really heartbreaking to see his final message about it before he left

The ending of LcddDem has to be the most gut-wrenching scene I've ever seen. It's so sad, shocking and overwhelming I couldn't say a word after watching it. It's like an emotional gravity pushing you hard.
This is the most realistic thing a kid would do. You see something so horrific that you just cant believe it's real, so you go to your room and act like nothing is wrong. Everything will be ok. Mom will be ok. She'll come to my room and let me know dinner is ready. You never leave your room. Your room is safe. But eventually you have to leave and when you do, you must face the reality that no nothing is ok. This is your life now. As cruel as it is.
SPOILERS of course. In my theory I think that dead corpse could be her mother that hid Chie in her room and block a large furniture so some crook or robber doesn't know Chie's room. And Chie can only just dream while all that is happening. Hardly doubt that Chie can somehow sleep kill her.

this track is very emotional to some points i can cry sometimes, i don't know how to explain it but lcddem is just a great fangame... i'm always sad to see it go and the creator himself
I can relate to Chie. When I was younger one night my mom was laying on the floor with every furniture covered in her blood. Fortunately my mom survived the ordeal.
the ending of lcddem made me cry a lot, more than any other ynfgs ive played, and i think thats because its such a real and raw event that can happen to anyone really. the denial especially-- going through such a harrowing loss that all you can do is hide away and pretend it didn't even happen. But the reality eventually sets in that a huge part of your life is gone: that nothing will ever really be the same. that's what this song embodies to me. That you can't hide from the grief forever. this game is really something special. and REALLY sad. lol.
