    You can't really assess the amount of drop by measuring stock springs to aftermarket by measuring the springs themselves because they have different spring rates. The stock springs will compress more under the static weight of the car

    • @CameronAlford
      @CameronAlford  2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Spring rate is something I’ve yet to learn in detail, this is definitely why it ended up lower than I thought! Thanks for the clarification

    Front strut removal isn't as hard as you guys made it. All that's needed is a bit of anti seize, a jack and a 2/3 lbs hammer. Hit the control arm. It does no real damage. Or if ur super picky hit a piece of wood instead. Some hits from the 3lb hammer gets it done pretty quick

    Question, if the new springs are stiffer than the stock ones. The ratio of how much height they loose from the weight of the car compressing them will be different. So a 1" difference on uncompressed springs, should be different with the weight of the car on them. No?

    The biggest difference between lift and no lift I think is just wear and tear on the body. Sure it can be done but if you have any limitation physically a lift is a whole different world!!! Coming from someone who can't easily get up and down I can't work on my own cars unless I have access to a lift.

    Measuring the existing strut/spring lengths wont work unless the compression rates of the old/new springs are the same, which they are not, I was hoping this would work, but turns out it doesnt

    @dbmscreen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi sir. Why the rear spring and shocks is separate?

  • @VoxVirtus86
    @VoxVirtus86 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't rotate my tires, because I prefer to replace my tires in pairs rather than an entire set. I get new tires on the rear, and the old rears move to the front. This way I only gotta buy 2 tires one a year or 18 months.

    • @K03sport
      @K03sport 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...but in the mean time you create two under performing tires and sacrifice performance/safwty/grip. Then the old tires are now at half their life and the performance isn't balanced F to R (again). You aren't saving money, just deferring the cost. If there is a problem on an axle, you won't know it until "18 months" when you go get two new tires....

    Could a small dab of the blue loctite be used to keep the locking ring from loosening, or is that a bad idea?

    • @aaronhall7740
      @aaronhall7740 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not if you want to adjust it later without having to heat the strut body to break the loctite.

    • @jameshaulenbeek5931
      @jameshaulenbeek5931 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aaronhall7740 I know loctite is a bad idea on them, I was asking more for others who might have the same question.
      That said, the blue loctite doesn't require heat to break, and a small dab of it actually works well in a lot of applications to keep things from shifting.
