This is exactly why I follow you. I've been waiting for this to finally go from a regular glossy screen protector to a matte one that doesn't offer so many compromises. Great stuff.
Did you make a mistake around 1:50 or am I just misunderstanding? It sounds like you’re saying the new one is better in this regard, but the overlay says the right side is better than the left (In the earlier part of the video you have the 2.1 on the left….so maybe at that point the iPad was just flipped)? Told you I was confused 😊
I zoomed in and it looks like it is flipped, in the keyboard case the top was on the left but going by the antenna lines it looks like the top is on the right at 1:50
Gd review fr, no Timewasting, no bias but personal and truthful opinion, straight to the point and easy to understand for anyone looking to buy paperlike Or any tec gadgets.
Could you please share your thoughts on the specific “rainbow dots” effect that happened with 1.0? At 1:50 I think you’re talking about it, but I’d love a specific answer because the rainbow effect was a dealbreaker for me. Thanks so much!
I just got the pencil grips from paperlike which is why Im even looking at the screen protector. The grip is so good even for it's pricepoint that I wonder what Aaron and Monty would think about it.
My greatest concern especially as an artist is the pen to paper feel. I draw best when the screen feels like it’s an actual piece of paper and you said the new version is way better in that sense than the old one. Yay!
I have been a paper like fanboy for years. Now I bought a new iPad and I wanted a quick protector, I ordered a MILS screen protector with paper like features. I will let you know if how it goes well. I also bought some cheap rubber cones for the pencil. They work great on plain glass, but I feel I need a “protector”.
I’m curious how this new one compares to the bellemond. I’m using a bellemond currently… and love it…. But I play a certain line three lettered online mobile game on my iPad and the move and shoot buttons have worn distinct patterns into the finish on my protector.
It still wears off the the apple pencil tip. My recommendation is to get used to writing on tempered glass, it took me a week maybe but now i feel it’s even smoother than analog note taking and i do like the experience.
Your pencil tip will wear down regardless of what you're doing, however, you're just suggesting to get the longest live per nib possible would be to forgo the PL protector. Depending on the level of force you're applying your nib will need to be replaced about 10% faster than if you don't use a PL Protector. Had iPad with PL(older version of the PL) protector for a year and the nib has not shown any significant wear and tear. The level of force you use directly reflects the sheer speed at which you must replace the nib. Your nib might last a little longer, but don't go and say it won't wear down by not using a PL protector. That doesn't make the nib wear down, using the nib wears it down. The friction of the paperlike protector just accelerates the wear and tear by a bit to a Fuck ton depending on the Hulk strength used when pressing down and using it.
I was just saying to myself “self why are there never any new videos for matte screen protectors.” Love my iPad for notes hate writing on it. May actually buy this.
Hey there, I’m watching this because I’m not to sure what screen protector to buy but I was wondering, does rhinoshield screen protector work with the Apple Pencil? I’m kinda in the middle of buying either that or paperlike but a little afraid to lose the screen quality as I’m not just taking notes on the iPad, would really appreciate a feedback! Keep up the good work! 💪
I hope you get something from them because when I was ordering on Paperlike online, I mentioned your TH-cam channel as the place where I heard about them. ❤
Insightful video as always. How about the Rhinoshield Impact Protection you recommended in an earlier video vs the Paperlike 2.1? Especially in terms of screen clarity. It would be interesting to have your thoughts on how those 2 compare please.
I would prefer the Paperlike. As I mentioned in the video, the Bellemond is really rough and my fingers get tired after using it for a long time BUT it needed the texture for Apple Pencil. The new Paperlike has a smooth finish for touch but used some sort of black magic for the friction between the protector and Apple Pencil.
@@matthiser26 tempered glass imo is better anyway. I also use one for my iPad. Not gonna lie took me some time to get used to but now it’s smooth and i love the experience
This Video nails it. Installed PL 2.1 yesterday and I am so happy. It feels like paper when writing with Apple Pencil. And so smooth when touching the screen with my fingers. And the colors still look amazing. iPad Pro,13 inch M4
Can you make a video on how to mount an iPad in a car? It’s a really specific issue, but all the van life and sales people would really appreciate it! There is so much confusion around this and very little trustworthy reviews
I found the screen was still too slippery with paper like and not paper like at all. I was so disappointed I took it off straight after applying as I couldn’t tell any difference. Sadly I feel this has way more marketing and a con. I suspect Paperlike pay TH-camr channels to give a positive reviews of their product sadly. I can’t recommend paper like at all.
I wouldn't. From my experience, the Apple Pencil lags a bit through the glass screen protectors. Adding a matte screen protector on top of that probably won't help.
Idk if it’s only me or … but I don’t feel like drawing/writing on paper more like on rubber 😂 ehhh there will never be 100% feel like pencil on paper xD
paperlike makes absolute trash and pays off influencers for marketing. bellemond makes a 50x better product for less money, and every actual artist that uses an ipad rocks bellemond for that reason. paperlike is a gimmick and a straight up bad product
The screen quality with the paper like is just so much better from what I’ve seen + the wear on the actual pen nib is apparently pretty low, I think the screen quality is equally as important as texture when it comes to these things so that’s probably why paperlike is so popular
1. He recommends both in other videos 2. He isn't getting paid from PaperLike 3. PaperLike isn't necessarily used by artists but more by students who take notes
@@Matheheftchen as a student who now uses belmonde. The first one I bought was paper like.. because it looked like it was for notes and stuff. Didn’t even realize there would be stuff made for artists. Now idc.. I use what is cheap and good enough.

Wow! This is the best Paperlike review. Aaron mercilessly criticized the earlier versions but now likes the new one. Good job Paperlike!
I remember that!

2.1 wins. I summed it up at the end of the video. The PL 2.1 would also have the worn patches over time.
@@MobileReviewsEh - thanks for the feedback. I’ll give the 2.1 a go the next time I change it out.

How hard do you press down? Because if this is their most durable version and you're leaving marks you might be pressing down too hard

Would it work to use paperlike on top of an existing glass screen protector?

It's worth it if you write on your iPad!
so should I buy the new paperlike or a bellemond? when I only care about writing like on paper?

Can you make a comparision to cheat paper like screen protector to those sold in aliexpress, thanks?
Do these types of screen protectors still wear down Apple Pencil nibs fast?
Can you speak to its finer print performance vs others vs no screen protector?

0:42 Okay seriously knife against glass? How can you be surprised?
Will it ruin the Apple Pencil tip though?
Yes that’s because of the friction of the surface. This is one of the main reasons i would still go with tempered glass
