I was looking at the 7" and this unit yesterday and found this review (I had already been influenced by your 7" video). Now tomorrow I shall buy this one.
I have the 7 inch screen with 3 cameras left side, right side and rear ..The booster rearview wasnt an option a year ago when I bought mine , it occasional freezes as my 5th wheel is 40 ft but not very often. That is a very nice set up but for me I believe I may just upgrade my rear camera ..cheers Ray another informative video
Hey I put one of these dominator systems on my camper but I ran the cord to the transponder under the camper and hooked the transponder to the LP gas cover at the hitch and it works fine and that took up the extra cable that was there in the back I ran the wire down the ladder can hardly see it anyhow it works fine.
I bought the mc7108 with 3 camera's my question is what is the power supply on a cameras because I cannot find it on the camera specification sheet. Thanks
The cameras are generally rated for operation anywhere between 10-30V DC supplies. I think because they are often used on 24V applications like heavy equipment.
The key issue is can you read license plates at a reasonable distance. Can you zoom in and read these? Thanks. #139. Very impressive range. I would love your old camera. :)
No, I haven't really come across a dashcam or rearview cam that can reliably read a license plate unless the vehicle is really close, like within 100 feet or so. The main problem is they all have a fish eye lens to help get the wide-angle view but that makes the license plate tiny as there is no zoom to the tiny lens they use. So if you zoom in to the video footage unlike in the movies it quickly gets too pixelated to read. Some states and provinces are easier than others.
@@LoveYourRV what is the image format/quality for a picture taken with the dash cam? When you need a dash cam, it will be for a hit and run OR to prove fault. The wide angle works for fault, usually, but if someone hits you at night, knowing it was a red car won't help.

I cannot view the monitor of the 7108 with polarized sunglasses on. Can the image on the RD10 be seen with polarized sunglasses or do they dim the image like the 7108 monitor? Thanks in advance!
i am thinking about a back up camera i have a new to me 2016 32 ft 5th wheel and a 1996 crewcab long bed which is after hookup from back of trailer to dash is about 42 ft. can i use the haloview without wiring the range extender i dont want to do all the wiring through the trailer.
Every truck and trailer combo is a little different so hard to say for sure but I've had no problems with my rig not using a range extender and its 45 long total and 30 foot fiver. You can check out my other videos about Haloview here - www.loveyourrv.com/haloview-rd10-rear-view-mirror-rv-camera-system/ Links to posts and videos at the bottom of the blog post. Cheers, Ray
For 42 ft length, the range extender is essential to ensure a strong signal even on the free way. As told by Haloview, over 33ft away from camera to monitor the range extender is recommended.
How odd, I just found this email and its months later. Anyway its a 2014 ACE, and yes its has 3 cameras. Ended up updating rear cam (voyager) with a jensen 9000. We are good.
I have quite a few other videos on different Haloview camera systems I've tested. You can look at different mounting options there - www.loveyourrv.com/tag/Haloview/ This one may be of help www.loveyourrv.com/installing-a-haloview-wireless-rv-backup-camera-model-mc7108/ Cheers, Ray
Wanting info on best replacement cam which is a Voyager on a 2014 Thor ??? Rv came new with in dash that has +3 cams so what I look at in on radio screen. Radio quit, so put in jensen 9000 , but since then rear camera is hazy, do I want to go with a new camera, same set up. So looking for voyager brand. That'll plug right in, but which one ?
The Haloview website has a bunch of different cameras and mounts - www.haloview.com/?acc=413 But I'm not familiar with a Thor I assume that is some type of motor home and may have a propriety camera system, so may have to get the original or completely replace the camera and display.
There's been some interest on the Escapees HDT forum re your camera system so I directed them your way...hope that's OK. I'm interested as well, my rig OAL is 66' and am not looking fwd to fishing wiring from one end to the other.
Sure is, thanks for sharing. I've also used and reviewed several other of the Haloview cameras and displays - www.loveyourrv.com/tag/Haloview/ Cheers! Ray
Any plans for the old one? Any significant changes with the new one? I'd consider getting your original unit, I've lots of room on the dash and overhead area in the Volvo.
If you have the room get the 7" display, easier to see and can add extra cameras if you want. I tested and gave this one away last fall - www.loveyourrv.com/haloview-rd7-wireless-rear-view-camera-kit-extended-range/ I gave away my original 7" plus two cameras to a friend who had a truck camper and towed a large boat behind it. I will be having a big giveaway of my extra stuff at the end of August and give the 5" display away with a repeater and camera. Get so many review items these days, so I pack up the extra and give to my viewers. I'm going to keep the new mirror display to use myself. Works great for my Ram, as space up there is limited.
I think what I might do is get a fwd and rear looking dash camera with motion detector but I think they all have the G force indicator in case of a crash. The one looks fwd and records and the rear one would be facing rearward at the hitch when I'm hooking up. With the Volvo 730 not having a rear window, I'm lining up the sides of the truck with the sides of the trailer...fine if I'm lined up straight on but not as easy when hooking up on an angle.Your system would be for the rear of the trailer, the sides, mounted close to the front and the 4th mounted at the top of the cab looking rearward. for when driving the truck only.Currently I have a 3 panel monitor a little bigger than the rearview mirror you have on the dash and there are 2 cameras, one looking straight down at the ground so I can see the front of the truck to make sure I don't catch the front rt corner of the truck in tight spaces. And the second mounted on the same mirror looking rearward down the side of the truck covering my blind spot. Lots of times people park themselves alongside me for some reason.
No, I gave it away to a subscriber last year - www.loveyourrv.com/lyrv-hits-the-75000-youtube-subscriber-milestone-thank-you/ I've been using the RD7R system for the last while www.loveyourrv.com/installing-the-haloview-ultimate-rd7r-wireless-rv-4-camera-system/ They figured out a nice velcro strap mount for the rearview mirror. Works well for my Ram pickup mirror.
Maybe you are looking at the other models called Handy, MC10 or M10. If you scroll down the page further there is one called the RD10. That is the one that I reviewed in this video. The RD stands for Range Dominator which means it comes with the booster for longer RVs. I assume the other models will come back into stock with time. All the global shipping and supply channels are messed up these days.
Are you aware of a rear view mirror type camera system, 10-12" wide ish? Fwd looking dash cam/recorder and a couple of video input ports for my 2 cameras on the rt side mirrors. One looks down the side of the trailer rearward and the other at the ground by the front wheel so I don't hit anything. Current one needs replacing. Thanks
@@LoveYourRV How about separating the 2 systems? Rear view mirror and front view plus crash system and a different monitor for the 2 other cameras? Is there a monitor available for the 2 mirror cameras only...2 video inputs plus a screen that could be split?
@@LoveYourRV OK, looks like the rearview camera system is do-able. My interest is in finding a monitor my 2 existing cameras can be plugged into, or maybe have to get 2 new cameras which would mean rewiring the Volvo and that is a pain.
I was watching the rear cam recording and it seems jerky. Is it not smooth flowing video? Then the comment was it is not sharp image for the rear camera. None of that inspires confidence to use the dash cam as a rear view mirror all the time, only for backing up. Are there any dash cams now with wireless rear cams that have a smooth sharp image, and also excellent night time quality like the wired dash cams have on the rear that makes them good to use full timer as a rear view mirror?
Wireless motion video is always a compromise due to the bandwidth constraints and delay in the radio signal processing. Best quality is with a wired setup. But I use a wireless rear view on the back of my trailer all the time and its fine for me because all I really want to know is if there is a vehicle behind me or not. Also, when backing up its not too bad since the trailer is going so slow the signal delay is much reduced. Personally I prefer a dedicated dashcam and a dedicated rear view display over this product.
