Love the no bullshit explanations you do about setups. Learning a lot from you. I usually need around 2/1.75 mm actions because I use heavy picks

Thanks Kev , for years I’ve wanted someone to actually explain this in the way you have. Thanks so much you have successfully ended my 10 year obsession of trying options that others advise when I just needed to understand the science of string height & action.. just need to cure my obsession of constantly tinkering with pickup height 😀

Hang in there Phil, I am planning a video on pickup height too! 🙂

@@DrKevGuitar ah excellent Kev I look forward to that .. I recently put a set of fender tex mex in one of my strats, I love the tone especially with the stagger & raised G pole pieces , but boy do they pull on the strings ! I have them pretty much flush with the pickguard , have lost a lot of the bass response but I find I like the overall tone.. You know when I set my pickups at what is considered ‘normal hight’ I love the way they drive the amp for high gain & soloing , but I’m never happy with how at this level they play clean or how they sound using pedals , so consequently I play less.. but pickups much further away from the strings I find myself playing for hours & enjoying the cleans & how they interact with pedals.. I guess the evidence for me here is the latter & how much more I enjoy playing with lower heights rather than going for the most power !!

I just discovered your channel, like... yesterday. I was looking up TC Electronics and saw your video, liked it and decided to keep watching more videos of yours. Ive been playing for quite some time, i just like watching videos about guitars. Now I've never really been too proficient with the tech aspect of guitars believe me hahaha. Anything more than changing my own guitar strings, I bring it to a tech. Anyways, your videos seem to have a lot of good, thorough and valuable insights. Keep em coming.

Hi Kev! I love this video too from your channel, please keep making these guitar tech videos. And my bonus thing on your channel is that you show this tech tips, things on your Music Man guitars. 🙏 Will you make a guitar pickup adjustment video for the humbuckers and for the single coil pickups, how you doing this setup on your Music Man's? And a video about explaining neck shims, is it useful or not? :)
