At the end of Supernova's duration, some of the effects (including hiding the Supernova Sun, showing Phoenix and casting the war stomp) are done according to a triggered timer, whereas the rest (like destroying the burn trigger and ending the sound) are done when the Supernova Sun dies. The Sun only dies when it runs out of HP or when its hardcoded Timed Life buff expires. But because the end of the game categorically pauses everything, it even pauses the Sun, and therefore pauses the duration of its Timed Life buff. So the Sun never dies (even though it gets hidden) and therefore the trigger for ending the burn never registers, and the burn continues indefinitely.
