    Just bought a '96 DX with only 68k on it for $450. One owner some rust to fix on the rear wheel wells and an e brake cable to replace. I think it was a good deal. Has AC and the interior looks brand new .

      +Daria Wells They are great cars, parts are cheap and everywhere. The newer the better though, they stopped making in 97 I think this body style started in 1995. Look for a 95 and up, they have 4 speed autos as opposed to the old 3 speed in the older tercels if you want an automatic.

    Oh my goodness, I loved seeing my car in such a beautiful condition. I have the same car, only mine is the two door version. She's so beat up. Bought at a garage sale for $50, though this car was given to me. With one of the old owners, I'm assuming a really bad wreck happened. The trunk is completely bashed in and doesn't latch (it's closed with zipties), the right taillight is held on by zipties too, and parts of the right rear cluster is busted open. At the time this car was given to me (August 2015), all she needed was a new timing belt and new front struts. Sept. rolled around and my check engine light came on. EGR valve. I got all of my belts replaced March this year, and had purchased my struts. Throughout this year, my alternator went out - replaced it. I had a misfire, cam sensor tested bad - replaced it - wasn't the issue. Got a code reader, cylinder 2 misfire. All of the spark plugs were arced up the sides. Replaced them. To this day, i still have a slight misfire, especially at an idle, so I'm assuming it has to do with the ignition coils and spark plug wires. I'm going to change those soon, along with spark plugs again. Sept this year, my car kept dying and I couldn't figure it out. My new alternator has a lifetime warranty, so I took it apart, and a certain piece in it that conducts electricity was disintegrated. Got it warrantied. Still kept dying. Got a code reader - nothing, multimeter - nothing. Found out it was the alternator belt when that bad boy snapped while I did have it driving. 😂 got that replaced real quick. I just got my struts replaced yesterday. They. Were. DESTROYED. so my new suspension is very nice. My EGR valve is still bad, but I'm not too terribly worried about it at this moment. My car has been through severe hell and back, but she still turns on everyday and gets me to point A and point b. I love my car so much, and I don't mind putting some money into her. I will drive it until it absolutely can't drive anymore!!

      if you want, seems you have gotten alot of use out of yours they are great cars, and the idle issue you are talking about is likely the coil packs on top of the motor, thats what mine was doing when I first got it.

    • @kelseycollier3104
      @kelseycollier3104 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @hanksgarage_
      @hanksgarage_  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea thats worth it for sure IMO, they are great cars glad you found one with such low miles, I think the timing belts are due every 60k, you may want to peel back the timing cover and see the condition of the belt, if there is any cracks in it or not.

    I have one question for the 95 tercel users could you take the key out of the ignition if the gear is in reverse mode in this model? I want to do stunt work, kidding just want to know . I mean just pressing the brake can let you take the key out or you have to put itin park first ?

      Yea its not too bad, real simple car. Has almost 118k miles on it now. It's probably one of the best beater cars ive owned. 39mpg last fill up, I also wired an after market tach in to it as well.

    How much u get it for?

  • @MN12BIRD
    @MN12BIRD 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow nice little car! Canadian winters and the salt they use around here kills the cars this old but that one looks great. Never seen a coil pack setup like that. 2 coil packs directly on 2 plugs and 2 wires running t the other 2 plugs. Well it's simple and it works! That's a JVC deck right? I seen those in Canadian Tire (big retail chain in Canada for tools, car parts, home items etc) and was actually really impressed with them for the price (I think they were $89 and $99 Canadian) I'm not used to seeing decks that cheap unless they're REALLY crappy no name brands and that JVC looks decent for $55!

    • @hanksgarage_
      @hanksgarage_  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks jake have not seen you around in quite a bit, its a dual may be a rebranded jvc would not surprise me, its been a decent deck so far. yea why is alot of stuff cheaper here in the states than in canada?

    • @MN12Guns
      @MN12Guns 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      hanksranger Oh it's a Dual okay we have those decks at Walmart here they start at $69.99 CDN so it's probably that one. I thought it looked similar to the JVC's I was looking at but I guess these days they all have the USB and 3.5mm inputs on the right side and a big volume knob on the left! I guess they just look similar I mean. Some stuff is a little cheaper there, but other things aren't. For example the PS4 will be $399 and the XBOX One will be $499 here when they come out Nov 15th, the exact same price they are in the USA and as far as I can remember most video games have been that way. But other things like TV's can often, or usually are a bit more here. Shipping? Import Tax? The fact you're just a much bigger market? Not sure, maybe all of the above? Food is usually a bit more here, guns are a lot more here! Example a standard Glock G17 gen 4 here starts at like $750! Ouch! I often wonder if handguns are so expensive here because hardly anyone other than LE and the odd shooter like me buys them. Very small group of people compared to the USA. I think the cheapest AR-15 I could find is about 1 grand and that's for a Norinco or maybe one of those S&W M&P 15 sports with no FA, dust cover etc. The kind of AR you can get for $600 costs me $1,000! But a more common hunting rifle isn't that much more. Standard Ruger 10/22s are $260 here . Then again we get lucky with some Chinese and Russian guns! I can get Norinco 1911's for like $300! I can get Russian SKS for $190-200, Russian SVT-40's for $300! My Russian TT-33 was only $189! So some guns are cheaper here. Mainly ones that aren't imported as much to the USA anymore. Cars are a fair bit more here. That's probably shipping and taxes but then again even cars that are made right here like a lot of Honda's and Toyotas sold in Canada are made here. Some GM's are made here. Ford used to make Crown Victorias here right near me actually. I don't know what Fords are made here now. They still have the big Windsor engine plant here that makes some of the V6 and V8 engines.

    • @hanksgarage_
      @hanksgarage_  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      MN12Guns Yea even here in Cali you can find decent ar's for around 600 (we have to have bullet buttons), they are basic ones though but not bad either way. The democrats in my state are constantly trying to ban everything under the sun as far as guns go here. In my area ammo is still fairly hard to come by has been that was since the sandy hook shooting. I used to go up and shoot maybe 2-3 times a month. now its been maybe 2 times since last december... couldnt hardly find anything for nearly 9 months after that shooting shotguns, rifles, handguns etc, .22, 9mm, and other pistol rounds are still very difficult to find locally kinda ridiculous that its been like that but none of us can do a damn thing about it.

    • @MN12BIRD
      @MN12BIRD 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      hanksranger Yeah lucky we never had an ammo crisis here. I wondered because that ammo is all made in the USA and I figured if our Canadian stores or suppliers that our stores deal with run out than it's going to get scarce and expensive. But it never did. I can still go buy bulk 22LR for the normal price. Our gun laws are funny too. We don't need bullet buttons, and they haven't gone after features like bayonet lugs, grenade launchers, adjustable stocks, pistol grips etc and we have no SBR laws so I can buy an SBR AR-15 and not pay a $200 tax stamp and have to wait a year for it! So in some ways it's not so bad here. But we have strict magazine limits. 5 round limits on semi-auto rifle magazines and 10 round limits on pistol magazines. Funny thing though people buy AR mags that are labeled as "pistol" mags (for an AR pistol) and they can use those 10 round mags in their AR-15 rifle so there's always a way around it. Our rimfires have no limits though I can have 25rd mags or 100rd drums in our 10/22 for example! There is also no magazine limit on bolt action or lever action rifles or pump action shotguns! So our limits really are only for handguns and center fire, semi-auto rifles. There's also 5 round .50 beowulf mags we can use and they will fit in an AR-15 and hold 15 rounds of 223/556 (meant to hold 5 rounds of .50 beowulf) but since the mag says it's a 5 round mag it's legal, we can buy those and put 15 rounds in them!!!! Once again another funny way around the law!
