Even today people are allowed to see it happen on TV (i.e. Queen Elizabeth and then King Charles) but the public wasn't allowed to see it in person. I think it should always be allowed. But growing up, I thought it was a permanent place they did it. I would be down for them doing that.

Wow! How things have changed. When I was stationed in the area 50 years ago Georgetown was very different. All I remember is not wanting to be in the commercial district because it was full of Porn movie theaters, sex shops, and was considered the "Red Light District". Glad to see it appears to have improved over the years. You would have seen none of this stuff then.
