      My wedge game improved immediately after out two hour chat: all I think is “U shape” swing. Also will keep working on having lead wrist going into flexion as I start the downswing. #bebettergolf

    Super interview. Have watched him with a lot of different instructors. My hobby is more "figuring out" the game more than any real hope of becoming particularly skilled at it. Incremental improvement in play and in understanding what's going on in the "swings" is "good enough". Watching him go through the process with so many different instructors has been just wonderful. He asks a lot of the questions that I would've wanted to ask, and he's done it enough to know all the jargon. Glad to see that he "gets it" with all the contradictions going on. Fun stuff.
    But, by far the very best part of this show was his quote from Hogan. I'd never heard that before and it is *so* insightful! And, shows how little hope there actually is. 🙂 Still fun to try.

      @@ericzellershow Those good shots *do* feel mighty fine. But, I'm not holding my breath expecting to gain masterful control over the clubface. My "club data" launch monitor suggests that I can get my path down to a surprisingly narrow range, but the secrets to clubface angle control appear to be well kept. Unless huge frame rate/shutter speed combos for video become readily available, then I'm betting that I'll simply have to continue "enjoying the journey" and finding the occasional "hint".

    i met a fellow golfer and he said he thought everyone including the pros have about a 15 stroke window for their scores. like say my average score is about 85 so i tend to shoot 7.5 strokes either side of that. it sounds about right when i think about my past score i've posted and the slope. what do you think?

    I like BBG but it is the pure example of what’s wrong with the golfing instruction and YT golf. There are soo many instructors trying to make a name for themselves or fall in a this is a must for all golfers camp that it’s a sea of mess for the AVG player and overload of contradictions and Brenden has done an excellent job showcasing the various methods and bringing new information out there. Often we as golfers will be like squirrels and will hop around trying this and that and I can tell you it’s a road for destruction or lack of progress. IMO it’s better to just find a coach that doesn’t fit you for a certain type of camp but works around for what’s best for your build(so more bio mechanics) like a Mike Adam’s etc and it’s your job as a golfer to THEN absorb what’s best for you once you’ve dialed in with your coach.

    Biggest problem I've had with instructors is that they tell you to swing like Adam Scott or someone like that and keep banging on with the same drivel for every person. My body physically doesn't have the flexibility, shoulder extension etc to do that, never has and when I was younger I tried what they were saying and just ended up injuring myself. Every instructor should start by investigating what each individuals body can and can't do naturally and start building YOUR unique natural swing from that point.

    • @ericzellershow
      @ericzellershow  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100 percent correct. Very few can swing it like Joaquin Niemann. I also wouldn’t want to learn a swing that’s going to set me up to be injured.

    The seems to also be a lot of contradicting advice on the BBG channel, and the fact that his swing is not actually much better is illuminating. Switching between coaching and styles hasn’t really helped Brendan at all - if he actually wanted to be better he would stick with someone like Milo and not keep tinkering.

    Golf "instruction" is just a series of "fixes" for what you are doing "wrong". Not only band-aid solutions but fundamentally inefficient corrections to counter your current undesired effect. Using biomechanics and kinesiology, the body moves most efficiently in certain ways. Using this info to dictate how to hit a golf ball provides a template as well as a reference to allow for improved performance. I use it, as demonstrated by Graves Golf (Moe Norman single plane swing), and it works. It also saves wear and tear on the back and provides solid contact and straight ball flight.Having a "model" to refer to allows for instant modifications that ensure proper movement. It works.
