    80 Series Land Cruisers suck. They break down all the time, they are ugly, and they are not capable off road. Plus, you can't get parts for them anymore, and did I mention that they suck? Don't buy one, don't look for them, just fuggetaboutit.

They have increased in value because the preppers love them for bug out vehicles as they can burn veg oil. Campers love them around here to camp for free on crown land that's hard to get to as well as sportsmen for fishing in the back country.

  • @smackhead
    @smackhead 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    In Australia every second person drives either one of these or a Nissan Patrol as a decent farm vehicle or overlander. It's almost the exact opposite of the US as here prices have been ridiculously expensive since day dot - ie they never depreciated much. The opposite are Jeeps... I hear TJ Wranglers going for crazy prices in the US even with the crappy 4 cyl (we only got the inline 6 here thank god) anyway it's easy enough to pick one up for about $6,000 US with 100,000 miles if you keep your eye out.
    So yeah - a lot is social media - but remember a lot of us have been around well before that (I'm in my 50's). I think it's word of mouth.. everyone here thinks jeeps are crap so no-one buys them resulting in lower prices even though they are quite capable. Just as in the US everyone thought 'omgz jeeeeeep' they never bothered to look at anything else resulting in lower prices for Landcruisers there.

      it built heavy like a tank heavier than any Jeep, Tahoe, even Suburban.

    What do you mean before it is too late? They are selling for $20k in California and you can't find a beat-up one for less than $8k. Just 4 years ago you could find beat-up LCs for $2500 all day and a nice one would sell for $10k. It is safe to say it is too late to buy them.

    I had a diesel not turbo africa spec 1992 , after a bad wiring burn that no one was prepared to try and fix (being rhd & non power steering made it a very limited run vehicle ) as all the wiring harnesses were different . So after 15 months of work , entire harness worked on , down to one connector box no one was prepared to touch or fix , I scrapped it as a non runner , it had over a million miles on it and was very much shot , after its previous owner had let an idiot maintain it who literally broke everything he touched , so the only thing that was still good was the engine . Be careful what you buy .
