People keep laughing, but while the comedic act is playing out, I am just mesmerized with the pure skill these two musicians showcase here. I dont think ppl in the audience understand how difficult this is.
It sounds like you just don’t play piano. This is well within your abilities to play. The real genius here is the physical comedy, which is exclusively showcased through piano playing.
@@Wistbacka Over a quarter of a century playing piano and your argument is… you think the regular philharmonic patrons don’t understand what it takes to play Hungarian Rhapsody?
What a difficult piece, and to do it as a duet the way that they did by reaching over, standing up, running around each other.... just shows the talent they both were. RIP Mr. Borge.
I don't think people truly understand just how INSANELY DIFFICULT this act is to pull off. Hungarian No.2 is already one of the most difficult pieces to play on piano, but add in another pianist and also the physical humor? My god the logistics are just mind blowing. Mr. Borge was an incredibly talented musician and funny to boot. And never dirty or offensive. Suggestive at times, but never in a way that was more than PG. The guy playing with him has some chops too. Great act.
I am so glad someone else remember's him still, I always wanted to meet him growing up but I am sad to find he had died before I was born. This man was a true legend and I hope he isn't forgotten.
As a kid I recall seeing my dad in fits of laughter watching this piece. He played piano and could appreciate both the difficulty of what they were actually doing and the comedy of it all.
WAIT 2:08 how did this guy even have the audacity to pull off the cleanest one handed octave glissando in the middle of all that? Can’t give Victor Borge enough props... we all miss him 😭
I know I miss him so much, I used to watch him over and over on vcr as a kid and wished I could have met him but I am sad to learn that he had died before I was born.
Unbeatable combination: classic music and comic genius. Victor Borge had it all and still keeps us laughing, years after his passing. What a wonderful man. Thanks for posting this gem!
LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!! Stellar musicianship, excellent comedy. But of course: it IS Victor Borge, after all.... Thanks for posting :-) I saw him live in concert a few times and this brings back excellent memories.
These two took the idea of “dueling pianos” and turned it on its head. Lord I miss Victor Borge. So much talent and yet he chose comedy when he could have put Liberace out of business.
Victor Borge never forgot that his audiences were composed equally of those who knew classical music well, and those who didn’t, so he trod a fine line between physical and musical gags.
oh my god these guys are above the pro level they are grandmasters at the piano. i play piano myself and even though it dosnt seem to hard when u watch a pro play piano is sooo hard to learn and theys guys have really mastered it
Th@'s some very skillful jocularity on the ol' joanna. Excellent!! Nice share Nom.....and by coincidence, the classic Morecambe & Wise episode with Andre Previn is being aired right now. "...playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order".
Hi all, I have some rare footage with Victor Borge - recorded in his native country Denmark. He partly speaks Danish, but I have applied English subtitles for those parts. This is the playlist (Enjoy!): th-cam.com/play/PLCby7t-aPVUksdwJPSy7ov7-tHibgxC4h.html
This is not easy to play. Insert two piano players of exceptional skill and play with various humour inserted and you have some Machiavellian performance on your hands. Appreciate the humour but also appreciate the mad skill these two performs.
This is amazing and laugh-out-loud hilarious! Just sorry I didn’t find it sooner. Thank you for posting. ps: Does anyone know who the other pianist is? I scrolled the comments, but didn’t see his name.
I've seen another one where Birge & his partner get even MORE twisted up playing around each other. Might've been the same guy but they were really fighting over space on the bench and the keys!
People keep laughing, but while the comedic act is playing out, I am just mesmerized with the pure skill these two musicians showcase here. I dont think ppl in the audience understand how difficult this is.
I respectfully disagree, this was a classical music crowd. They sure knew how awesome this was.

Mark If people are Borge fans they get it
"This piano has 3 pedals, who do they think I am?" lol

@unknowncoconutleaf grow up, seriously.
Victor Borge is one of the most talented musicians and comedians that ever lived.
Tim Farage He was even on an episode of "The Man From UNCLE" once. I forget which episode now.
As a kid I recall seeing my dad in fits of laughter watching this piece. He played piano and could appreciate both the difficulty of what they were actually doing and the comedy of it all.
This man wanted to do a comedian but his parents wanted him to be a pianist, so this is what he ended up being... XD
Lol
😆
A Comedianist? 😂
Doing a comedian and being a pianist is quite possible. Doing both at the same time requires some acrobatics though :P

God that was hysterical! Such genius and talent mixed with good humour!
To perform comedy to the extend Borge does with a piece this difficult and intricate is beyond genius, it's incomparable!
The fact that it was executed perfectly with no mistakes
